This review is for neighbor island news coverage on Jan 2, 2024 at Hilo airport. Heard thru the coconut wireless that one of the TSA lines was shut down so it was recommended to get to the airport early. Arrived early and was standing in line which went all the way to Southwest Airlines counter area , with nothing to do I observed a KITV vehicle driving by. A few minutes later reporter Jeremy Lee is taking video of the long line and asking people if they wanted to be interviewed. I believe KITV was the first station doing the story and highlighting the problems with the broken TSA equipment at Hilo airport. Hopefully the news coverage will put pressure on TSA and airport personnel to resolve this issue. read more

KITV 4 - Television Stations Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

I love watching Island news with Carly Yoshida! Carly is my favorite weather all around meteorologist weather broadcaster. I love her gentle spirit as she broadcast the news the news and that's why I like watching KITV 4. Hoping she becomes one of the major broadcasters for your station! read more

Cynthia Yip is hard to look at, and hard to listen to. She struggles to pronounce Hawaiian words, and fumbles quite often. Unlike Mika Miyashima, Rick Quan or Lei U'i Kaholokula who can read the teleprompter flawlessly. I cannot watch the weekend news now when Cynthia is on. Sorry, not sorry. read more

KITV 4 - Cynthia Yip - Television Stations Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

Called the news station and asked to speak to Danielle Tucker about the closure on the Pali Hwy and a awesome young man Isiah answered and informed me that she was not in the news room but will check with her and get to me. Well he called me back right away to let me know what the Pali closure entails! isiah went out of his way to help me with my evening commute, I haven't had anyone recently help me with this kind of caring and kindness Aloha and much Mahalos to you, Isiah!!! read more

Pete Is THE worst weather forecaster i have ever seen. Even Drew Davis the newbie on Channel is better by faaaar better. Pete doesn't show the big picture of high pressure systems. Just worthless PAST weather ( opposite of forecast) island by island. How stupid is that ? read more

Turned on the TV and was on KITV...saw these big bare shoulder and arms on a female reporting...I couldn't believe it. Where has the standards, profesionalism, good tast and respect for this profession go? I thought she was wearing a strapless dress, and noted that her hair covered part of the straps. KITV should have standards, dress codes...they are representing your company and have respect reporting the news and not be so laxed. And next to her was Paul Drewes, nice in his suit, she didn't look good next to him. read more

I am truly torn as I write this review. KITV 4; now known as Island News is my station to watch in the morning and evening. The GOOD, The BAD and THE UnNews!.... 1) Good newscasters but limited on what news they cover. Their morning news makes up 2 early hours from 5 am to 7 am. Sadly, after the first 40 minutes, the news repeats itself. 2) They feature YELP on Tuesdays and Sundays; giving our CM a chance to feature places and people popular with reviews and visits. 3) Weather and traffic reports become repetitious after the first hour; and sometimes (maybe many times) the cameras are on the blink. 4) My favorite is the sports because their sports reporter Brandi Higa is the greatest. She reports with passion and desire; making me (a non sports person) enjoy sports! So go figure The upshot is they try hard and their newscasters are pleasant and informative. The downside is they, as I mentioned in #'s 1 and 3 do exude a lackluster presentation. I do watch them as a matter of habit and I hope one day, their producers will take a better look at their news reporting. I'm cheering and rooting for you Island News 4! Let's step it up a couple notches! 108/100 Yelp Review Challenge Los Angeles read more

HOnestly, I dont watch tv much but Jason Lee is kinda irritating. His speech and motions are too exaggerated and big for this local tv station. He obviously is not familiar with the local culture nor the language. Hes a fish out of water. The only thing going for him is he looks kinda asian/mixed - which a lot of people in Hawaii look like, but hes to weird to watch - like hes been told to look a live or show expression. Dont think hell last very long in this town. Whenever he comes on, Im like, change the channel. read more

They use a lot of yesterday's news. Instead of shooting new coverage. They ask Tasha if O'ahu and Kauai will be directly impacted and the first thing she says is the little islands up north may be impacted. Who cares about that!! Then they asked Hilo girl, since we are not having the shelters on the big island, are they going to send them to Oahu? That's a ridiculous question. How are they going to get here? All the flights are canceled! read more

Been ruminating about whether to leave this review but finally decided to--especially since Cynthia Yip's delivery of the news is so BAD! Her delivery is not even mediocre--subpar at best. We can barely understand what she's saying. Why isn't she able to read the teleprompter flawlessly without mumbling and stumbling over her words! UGH! Easy fix though..all we have to do is change the channel! read more

Two KITV productions recently promoted the euthanization of feral cats. (Read Murder.) The reporter blames feral cats for the death of a monk seal, and a threat to the nene population. Both of these articles were biased, not well researched, and misrepresented the threat of the spread of toxoplasmosis gondii by feral cats. There can be problems with toxoplasmosis, but it can be spread in a number of ways, not just by cats. Many animals are already infected, including most mammals, 30-50% of all humans and pigs, dogs, rodents and birds. In most cases T.G. produces no symptoms, but in immune compromised individuals it can be fatal. Most humans who are exposed develop immunity to T.G. Feral cats are problematic in Hawai`i, yet no one is offering sane solutions except the Lanai Cat Shelter and the scores of volunteers who, paying out of our own pockets, are Trapping, Neutering, Rehoming and Maintaining feral cats in colonies (TNRM). Cats can spread toxoplasmosis only for a short time in kitten hood, shortly after infection caused by eating an infected bird or rodent. Some doctors expose their pre-pubescent female children to infected kittens to develop immunity so they don't pass on the infection during pregnancy. Uninfected people can become infected by eating raw meat, handling cat feces, being licked by an infected dog, butchering a wild pig, or any fluid transmission with an actively infected mammal or bird. Why can't KITV just tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth? This is simply yellow journalism. read more

I get a generic feeling when watching this news channel. The overall look of the set and reporters are lax compared to KHON and HNN. I did give them a chance when they started the 1 hour 10pm newscast but I didn't care for it as they repeat stories to fill up the time. On the positive side, their neighbor island news coverage and camera footage are better than other stations. read more

10 minutes of coverage of the Olympics men's marathon????? You got to be kidding !!!! This is always one of the most watched by many. What a let down !!! It was scheduled at 3pm and never showed until 5 pm in a short summary. Who is in charge of this scheduling ??? Hope channel 4 never gets to show any future sports !!! Someone should be fired !!! read more

What goes better with a cup of joe? Kitv4 of course!! I mainly watch every early morning to see what kind of horrible traffic I'm going to expect. Hahahaha I also get my dose of current events. I always see a promotion and or contest they have and ALWAYS press my luck!! Guess what everyone????!!! It actually paid off!!! I won!! I won tickets to see the long island medium Teresa Caputo!! I've seen her show before and even though I don't have anyone that I have "unfinished business" with I thought this would be an awesome show to see!! I spoke with one of the promotions director at KITV and she was very sweet she gave me directions to the studio and also told me about a little turn around where I could park. The new studio is located right in the same area as the old TGIF restaurant. The only parking available is street parking because I only went there to pick up these winning tickets it was an in and out process. Thanks again kitv4! read more

The new KITV is terrible. The newscasters can't pronounce local names, and places. The newscasters are obvious liberals when they make facial expressions and slip in their opinions when reporting about conservatives. They replay old news over and over. I miss the old crew Moanikeala, Paula Akana, Robert Kekaula. They would not butcher the Hawaiian language. Bye, bye KITV. read more

Horrible coverage of the marathon. Just watching 4 newscasters talking. Why didn't they invest in a motorcycle with camera to follow runners. Instead of watching runners cross at finish line. Get real coverage in the future read more

Kitv just cuts off your program and puts on some bullshit election update, how rude!! Nobody cares! As long as there is a good movie, I won't help to give you guys ratings. read more

5 stars for Yasmin, Amber Lynn and Mahealani!!! Love the morning news. Dan's leaving to be the producer.

Pamela Young and Gary Sprinkle are the best news anchors in the history of Hawaiian Television. SO much chemistry and professionalism. I heard they write all their own stories, not just read them from the teleprompter. I will never watch another set of news anchors besides them. read more

If it weren't for Yunji, I'd never watch kitv! And she isn't trying hard to speak good English, helloooo, she lived in the mainland, man! She's the only reason kitv is still in competition with the other stations. Great strategic move in bringing her home! Kudos!!! read more

Can't watch KITV anymore. There's something wrong with their feed and the background sound is about five times louder than what people are saying! It's been going on for about four weeks and I'm really tired of it. I talked to Oceanic Cable and they said it is ABC not them. I've been watching Good Morning America and lots of shows on ABC but I guess it's so long, see you later! I suppose if enough people stop watching ABC they might get the message that there is something terribly wrong with their feed to their cable stations. read more

Don't really know what to say except I was an avid viewer of the KITV morning news shows all week long until newscasters started leaving the news crew replaced by new, unknowns mixed in with not so interesting newscaster anchors now. All I'm saying is the morning news show playing field is much more flat and I'll be channel surfing more often now. I do like the evening news though ! So I balanced the rating to a 3 star. read more

I watch everyday at 6 and tend to enjoy the news! But I think you guys need to get it together at the station. Everyday your broadcast is messed up, everyday! I would hope you all are embarrassed because I 'am by just watching... Apparently not, because it still happens everyday! Not once can I recall watching the news and something going wrong. Blank screen,no sound, and "technical issues". Take some pride in your work and get it together! read more

I have watched all three of the morning news shows, this one is superior by far, all four women are my favorites, Yasmin Dar and Moani Nabarro may not be anchors, they do such a fantastic job, you could not tell. thanks for your on location reports Moani. and the cream of the crop is Mahealani and Jill K., I'm surprised you two haven't been scooped up by mainland Television stations, I only turn my channel during commericals, and I don't usually leave reviews Well done ladies! You need to change your programming again. Stop pidgin news and pidgin sports. Just report the news and stop tweaking it.

I was at an entrepreneur fair, talking to a person manning a booth. Then Lara Yamada abruptly interrupted me and spoke that person about doing a news interview without apologizing or even acknowledging me. RUDE. read more

Maybe instead of calling themselves island news they should be "fill in the name" has the night off.

More Local Stories! More Local News! Thank goodness for Google Maps instead of actual camera footage, Lead stories like water main breaks, bathroom dedications in Hawaii-Kai, and the fantastic Eclipse of the moon -oooh, and all those YouTube videos and Mainland news footages that out numbers Hawaii stories- oh and don't forget the accurate weather reports, Hawaiian moon phases, and the Blitz!- Local Football - where we show more DJ and techno music shots than the "One" highlight play from each of all of the games around the state, in one nite - especially that season changing match up - from the cellar dwellers of the OIA and ILH. And let's not leave out if a public figure gets in trouble - let's plaster their picture all over TV and run the story over and over and over - for days! Even before a determination is made on whether they are guilty or not. Yep - escape from the Boys home - Lead Story! And complain on top of it that the media should be told so the public can be informed !!! But - did those guyz ever get captured?? I think the public should be told too! I still see guyz that look like escapees - they're everywhere! But the real escapees -have been caught already - but no story. If there was one - did they broadcast it once? -twice? - oh yeah - someone ran over a fire hydrant - that's more I mportant! Or maybe there is Vog blowing up from the Big Island!! Oh My!! It could be the end of the world - wait it will be mostly sunny - except for that rain storm in Nuuanu on my way to work!! read more

Unbalanced journalism!!!! They don't tell the whole story, just what they feel will make news, because of this, they will be responsible for many feline lives. I am disgusted by their one-sided stories. read more

shame on them. they were very biased towards president elect Trump. they had 4 guest on and 2 were for Trump and 2 were against him. they played out the opinion of the 2 who were against him and cut off the other 2. and laughed about it. where's the journalism in that??!?... they make it obvious to the viewers who they support with there opinion with lack of facts or truth. read more
