(This is long, but it matters, & I hope i can save others, from experiencing, the same grief I…read moredid/am.)
I took my beloved 19.5 year old cat, Smudge of Fudge, to Good Neighbors vet, Novenber of 2023. (Yes, that was long ago, but this incident, was so painful, i have been unable to write this review, till now)
When i came in, with my baby, limp in my arms, i had to explain over and over that I wanted to check for a blockage, they were not abiding, till I finally said, in desperation "i will pay you, whatever you want, i just need someone to palpate his abdomen to see if there is a blockage!"
They took him in, & checked.
Then, in front of the many costumers(not even taken to the side.), in a VERY cold, matter of fact tone of voice, said flatly, "he's got a day or 2 at (most)". I broke out in sobs holding my dying 19 1/2 yr old fur baby in my arms. (He was in hospice care, but the impression i was given by the hospice nurse, was we had weeks, not a day or two) The vet, who showed absolutely NO compassion, then told me (again, flatly)he was "very dehydrated"(even though I was giving him fluids) and that he had nothing in his stomach. A very accusatory tone like as if I was purposely starving my fur baby. (I was feeding him pumpkin puree, which is full of nutrients & would bypass any blockage[hopefully, if there was one]) This woman had NO empathy, no privacy when delivering such heart wrenching news. I didn't notice her name, at the time, but she was VERY cold, authoritarian in manner, appearing to be, the head person , in charge)
I left sobbing, as other customers who had watched this cruel display, attempted to soothe me, with comforting words.
I don't know if this heartless Vet/manager is still working at G.N.Vet. but if she is, I hope she's learned how to be kind, in such situations.
I had been to G.N.vet previously, & it had gone well, but I have not returned, nor recommended, since this incident.
The callousness, of the woman & the delivering of such heartbreaking news, in front of a full line of waiting strangers, was
unnecessary & cruel.
Im hoping;
* I can find a bit of healing in writing this review(finally).
*Help this company, be more compassionate in the future, (& have a space of privacy, when delivering, such devastating news).
*Only hire employees, with understanding, not just of the medical, but the emotional,
Of both the pet AND their owner.
*and finally, im writing, in hopes no one else goes through the grief, I went through.
