We removed our earlier reviews in hopes that we could get Robert Bacon from Kitchenworx to do what he agreed to do. That has not happened and the project should have been completed by mid-September today is Jan 26, 2017. Despite repeated promises by Mr. Bacon of completion and that he will complete the job at no charge (sent to us in writing on 11/26/2016) We are happy to share our documentation from contracts to emails if requested. The bottom line is this company and its principal Robert Bacon, cannot be trusted to do the work in a professional workmanlike manner. I am surprised that Reagan gave them a 2 * Everything that is stated in these scenarios as described in these reviews happened to us too and more! He was unorganized, did not project manage in any way shape or form our remodel. He did not respond to emails when he said he was going to, was and is argumentative and is never wrong. It is always the customer's fault. He did actual damage to the property that he has not repaired. His workers did not do the bathroom as designed, which has now cost us over $10K to repair. We have a contract for the work, we have paid him. He violated Colorado Law by not pulling a permit. Something I did now to get this project completed but was to be done by his company per our contract. Reagan S is also correct in that he puts vagaries in the contract in estimate form. E.g. replace the microwave is $149 ( the original one was in the same place ) and he wants to now charge $500 to connect it to the vent ( that is already there) through the new cabinet - this was in the original design of the Kitchen and has not changed. Again - AWFUL, AWFUL AWFUL - We have filed, per our agreement, an arbitration suit against this company. Damages in this arbitration and out of pocket costs now total over $65K this on a contract that was to cost us no more than $25K of which $20K has been spent. They have caused us loss of rents, a ton of time away from my job, and overall damage to the property like joists needing repair is unbelievable. Avoid Robert Bacon and Kitchenworx at all costs! The Kitchenworx team is fantastic. They are flexible and worked with MY schedule to install and finish my new kitchen. If "problems" came up, they would work with me to find an immediate solution. The friendliness of the staff and workers is unmatched. After they were done, they did a final inspection and actually suggested some crew come back and touch up (caulking and finishing) some spots that were not up to their standard. We contracted with Kitchenworx to begin our kitchen remodel in March of this year (2016). I need to get a warning out to other consumers in Colorado to avoid using this company. I don't believe they are bad people but I can tell you after having a kitchen completely demolished and remodeled with them, I am compelled to inform others about how painful and unprofessional the experience was. Curiously, their website shows their name as Kitchenworx and here they have it listed as Kitchen Worx. In a nutshell, Robert (owner) does a great job selling how great Kitchenworx is when he makes the first site visit and estimate. He's very pleasant, seems knowledgeable and makes many promises about how well things will go. Once we signed a contract with them, things started going south. First of all, for the original demo, he did not show up and had not properly communicated the original plan to his subcontractor. This led to us being charged for additional demo that was not in the original quote. Kitchenworx bills themselves as a general contractor, which is partly true. They do very little of the work themselves and subcontract with a company called Bernal's. The subs were nice enough people but their work was substandard. Some examples: They were to install a new window on an exterior wall, which they did. They literally, cut a hole in the wall and we're going to install the window in that hole. They didn't build a header, King stud or properly prepare the opening for the window. I called and left voice mail for Robert and explained that the window opening had not been properly built. The next morning, my wife had received an email from him at 3:00AM saying he was quitting the job, effective immediately because we were unhappy with everything. We tried very hard to find another contractor at that point, but we couldn't find one that could fit us in for 6 weeks. It was still cold out at the time and we had no ceiling or insulation in our kitchen so we were kind of stuck. Robert subsequently apologized for his email and agreed that the window was done improperly. He then promised that if we continued with Kitchenworx, he would make sure everything else went smoothly and he would inspect everything personally. He came one time after that and we never saw him again. We ended up having to be very diligent in inspecting all the work to the best of our ability. We did catch that the subcontractor installed the vented range hood but didn't connect it to the vent. In fact, they didn't even bother to cut a hole in the new ceiling for the pipe - they simply just installed the fixture. Ultimately, the job was mostly completed but a final inspection was never done and we're left with wavy, out of square walls (our backsplash installer had to completely refinish the wall to make it square enough for the tile), trim that doesn't properly match. For what we paid, we deserved a professional, above board kitchen remodel that should have been done in 4-6 weeks as promised. Instead we overpaid for an extremely stressful and unpleasant experience that took over 3 months. Fellow consumer, please just do your homework and read the reviews you can find. Would not recommend this company. I initially posted my review on this company shortly after we parted ways with them, back in mid to late August 2016. My review caught the owner's eye, and I since received several emails asking me to take my 1 star review down. I ignored these requests he repeatedly made. But he then emailed my husband instead, with series of strongly worded emails, threatening with a lawsuit, mentioning his corporate lawyers involvement, etc. After several of these emails with threats of lawsuit and other jargon we did not understand, we sought legal representation. We were intimidated by all the words he used, and in a hurry hired the first lawyer who picked up his phone, and who was available on the decided court date (day before Christmas!). Mr Bacon filed a lawsuit, demanding full amount of his un-performed work to be payed to him. Court sided with us, ruling that Mr Bacon was not owed anything, and he was payed in full for the work his company did actually perform. However, this ordeal cost us thousands of dollars, not to mention the time spent away from work($$$)! In court, Mr Bacon brought along his sister/secretary, no corporate lawyers. He made some serious allegations...he printed an excerpt of another Yelp review and, knowing very well whom it belonged to, accused me of writing it! Conveniently, he neglected to include the part where he commented on the mentioned review, acknowledging the work and that it indeed belonged to another Yelper. Additionally he made untruthful accusations regarding my Yelp account, and further just slandered my partner and myself in the courthouse. Involvement with KitchenWorkx (Kitchenworks?) caused a great deal of distress to us. To a point where leaving my personal experience with this company makes me feel uncomfortable, and fearful. It is the first time in over 200 reviews that I dealt with such tempered business owner. But I felt strongly that nobody else should go through what they put me through! ---- original review ---- This company was referred to us by kitchen planner from IKEA. Upon meeting with Mr Bacon, we got our questions answered and felt comfortable proceeding with his company. We never checked their existing reviews (in mid to late August of 2016, when we parted ways, several other 1-star reviews were posted, but some have since been taken down). They promised a great deal but on day one of demolition, the contractor we hired, who assured us he would be onsite to instruct subcontractors, introduce us and to supervise work(Robert Bacon) failed to show up altogether. The workers were onsite, lingering, awaiting his instructions. Worse, his sister/office assistant did not seem to know when or if he would arrive to coordinate his workers who have been waiting on site all the while. It all seemed poorly communicated between them and to their workers and clients(us). Several days went on with such frustration, miss communication, not knowing when or who will show up at my door. For a moment we were under the impression this is a scam and they'll run with our deposit. I voiced my concerns to them over the phone, Sherri assured me it is just miscommunication between them and reminded me of their "less than 1% unsatisfied clientele" stats. So much stress in just a week of working with this company! Mr Bacon promised to arrive but then failed to do so, we would get an email saying he had to leave town. He said the materials will be delivered on a Friday, they were not. Demolition remains were supposed to be hauled away on Thursday, but they were here until the following week. They charged for two haul-away trailers already, yet we were left with the construction debris indefinitely! This whole experience was disappointing. read more

Update: 11/26/2016 I have been offered $1000 to remove this review. 11/1/2016The owner of this company contacted me by private message offering to pay me $250 to remove the following review. Buyer Beware! This Robert guy comes to your house to do a bid for your project. This is what to expect: the worst case of little man syndrome I have ever seen. He pulls up in some fancy tricked out truck, tells you how great he is, proceeds to tell you how he doesn't do any work himself, then he will send you a bid for $5000 to demo your current kitchen. WHAT?! He also tells you you need to coordinate the electrician and plumber yourself. His bid doesn't include any materials for repairs. You will pay him $5k for him to "manage" your project, although you will be managing it yourself because you still need to find electrical, plumbing, granite, etc. Oh, and he doesn't build or install your cabinets either. That's a different company too. Also, forget about getting ahold of this guy. After initial consult, you can only communicate with his secretary. So, unless you feel like over paying by 10x what it should cost to demo a kitchen, I would steer clear. read more

Would not recommend. My initial impressions were great, but those feelings quickly faded. Rob, the owner, came out to look at the site and give an estimate. It's clear that he knows his stuff and could be a good contractor, but he doesn't stay involved during the project. We ran into a few issues and instead of Rob being proactive and coming onsite to offer suggestions and solve the problem, I had to request his presence and give him my ideas to fix the situation. 99% of my interaction during the project was with Sherry, the office manager. While I think she truly tries to stay on top of things, there were so many miscommunications. I never knew when people were going to show up at my house, and there were a few instances when they let themselves in without knocking first (once early in the morning while I was still sleeping). And then half the time when we did have a scheduled start time, they would show up late or not at all. If you do go into business with them, read the contract and work estimate very carefully! The estimate seems very fair and reasonable; however, it doesn't include a lot of the necessary work and your final invoice will astound you. For example, they'll demo your entire kitchen and pull off the baseboards in the process, but if you want the baseboards put back in, it's an additional fee at the end. Also, make sure to look at the invoices they give you for their materials while on the job. It seemed like they tried to slip in a few things hoping I wouldn't notice (power tool extension cord, excessive quantities of items, etc.). This was the first major project I've done at my house, so it was definitely a learning experience for me. Hopefully this helps you avoid some of the pain that I went through. read more

Would not recommend! They remodeled my kitchen and living room and did a terrible job. They subcontract out all of the work to highly unskilled workers. The laminate flooring they installed has gaps everywhere and is just shoddy work. They put a hole in my wall and slapped some plaster up and left it. The price of the project continued to grow throughout the project. At one point they stopped coming out for 3 days until we called them. Their counter top installers did a terrible job, one edge was left unpolished, crooked and did not fit and their solution was to use calling for a 1 inch gap. Everything about this company and the work they did was terrible. The entire project was a headache, Robert came to visit a handful of times only after lots of complaining. I would have much rather paid more elsewhere. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this business, like others have said! read more

Kitchenworx was one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. Their kitchen designer (Kendra) placed my microwave so high, I needed a stepstool to see in and I'm 5' 6". Initially, they balked and would not remedy the problem, said I needed to pay 250- to come out and absorb the cost of an unused( but now with holes for the electrical wire and outlet box) wrong sized cabinet. There are more details, but I'll spare you. After being lied to (by Sherry and Robert) and raked over the coals at the cost of my losing my temper and inner peace they FINALLY agreed to remedy the job(never taking ownership for their error) and did reimburse me for the cabinet and not charge the 250- additional charge. I expect payment next week...we'll see what happens. I got payment for the cabinet, but was not refunded the tax. I've changed my rating to 3 stars because all the work performed by the installers (Bill and Rob) was exceptional. Still no refund for tax. read more

BE forewarned. DO NOT use this contractor. Gave me an estimate on a kitchen remodel, including a wall tear down. In 1 day, his crew gutted the kitchen down to the stubs. 3 weeks later, no one came back. Contacted Rob, the owner, repeatedly, he said he'd come by, a no show every time. Then said he could not do several things that were in the bid, even though his"Structural engineer, I'm sure just a made up title, said that it could be done. Then he sends out a elctrical guy who gave me a bid mote than 4X what Rob said the electrical bid should be. When I finally got furious on the phone with Rob and his no show, and incorrect ideas, he yells at me for being unreasonable, we're now talking over 4 weeks with a gutted kitchen. I finally had to hire an attorney and Rob would still not return my 50% deposit, minus the demo done, until a lawsuit was filed to get my money. Even the attorney said that Rob was calling him all sorts of names.This guy is lazy, unethical and could care less about you as a customer. he appears to also have an huge ego that stops at nothing. Major kitchen remodel started in August, finished 1st week in December. Very poor communication with KitchenWorx. We bought cabinets, microwave, counter top through IKEA, which are satisfactory products. Had an IKEA designer work with our ideas which included lighting, opened partition, island, and DIY finish panels. KitchenWorx contracts through IKEA and with Traemand installers. Their lead GC guy followed up with assurances of the remodel plans being fairly generic and concerns with air duct return and under cabinet vent not being a problem. We saw him only once after the intitial visit to address our concerns about the venting which was becoming an issue with the installers, and that the installers accidentally gouged and scraped the existing wood floor during demo. During installation of range-hood, installer cracked ceiling drywall while in the attic, did not acknowledge responsibilty, and neither did the GC. I was acting as GC some of the time and had to show what was needed to be done for the vents for the installer, and even had to extend the vent elbow myself in order to connect to the vent cover. A couple of the cabinets and drawers where not squared and we had to insist on proper adjustments. Minor items like ceiling marks at the hood and eletrician's ceiling light patches had to be pointed out and repaired. We still have pencil marks and the crack repairs which are still not finished. During sink installation, installer left a rag in the drain which we later discovered when we were able to use the kitchen, more than 90 days without, had to call a plumber. Last day of installation, fridge did not fit (was left for us to slide it in) had to beg installer to return and modify the space to allow for the fridge (not measured space properly). The final invoice reflected a $100 credit for the floor damage, (we were promisted $250), a $360 charge for the 2 vents which included a trip to Home Depot, and no credit for us having to pay a plumber to unclog the sink (we were shown the rag bits). We tried to be pleasant but firm with KitchenWorx all during the many calls we made, such as waiting for installers to show up when they were scheduled and not being notified that they were not coming, etc. Once they ran the final credit card charge through, it was bye bye, take the money and run. Don't believe 1/2 of what you hear from these people, don't expect customer response, be prepared to deal with over worked and under manned installers. We have a great kitchen but we ended paying way more than were led to believe, and KitchenWorx/Traemand are dismal. I would not do another IKEA kitchen if you paid me. read more

My kitchen and home were just remodeled by Kitchenworx. Overall, I was pleased with the job and the quality of their work was very high. Most of my contact was with Sherry over the phone and she was very helpful and responsive to my concerns. Robert, the owner and GC, was present on the demo day and checked in on the project several times to check off on the progress. Our job grew from our original bid, including drywalling ceilings, framing and drywalling a wall so we can mount a wall tv, patching hardwood floors that were exposed from removed cabinets, and building a custom 1/2 wall with a handrail. Carlito, the carpenter, was very skilled and handled a lot of the remodel. Jay, was very professional and respectful and did a good job with plumbing and hanging the ceiling-mount oven exhaust. Ramon was a great drywaller, too. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the two guys who constructed the 1/2wall/handrail, but they did a great job as well. In my experience, their workers are very responsible, trustworthy, and respectful. There were a few issues with cracks in drywall and issues with the floor refinishing but the guys came back to repair things quickly. I would recommend Kitchenworx to others because their prices were reasonable and the quality of their work was high, and, as with any remodel, the home owner must be persistent and involved to achieve the desired outcome. read more
