I fell into a tourist trap. This cafe was a small venue for a hotel buffet. Especially when you…read morecompare it to the likes of the Langham Hotel in Melbourne, where you get top quality for your money. Sure you will get unlimited champagne and on the surface the menu sounds amazing. However, after dining in better restaurants you soon realise the seafood is not the freshest. Raw oysters didn't sit on ice, mussels were dry, and sushi was just average. Salmon was good, as were the salads and other sides but who wants to fill up on that? They actually had a bao with no filling or sauce. Other dishes were a mishmash of cuisine. Did I have more than one plate? Of course! I tried a lot. Was it good enough to recommend or come back for an $80 lunch? I don't think so.

Cafe Opera offer a vast buffet breakfast. There is a selection of hot breakfast foods such as eggs,…read morebacon, hash browns, Chinese dumplings, congee, char siu bao, waffles, plus much much more. Also cereals, fruits, yoghurt, juices, cold meats and cheeses, and a fantastic selection of breads and pastries. One of the best hotel buffet breakfasts I have had. The coffee is so-so and definitely don't order soy milk. In this instance I would opt for an espresso or a pot of tea. The Lunch and Dinner buffet is similarly spectacular. Again, a vast selection of food including hot foods - meats (roast, ribs, fish), roast/cooked vegetables, soup, pasta, rice, and cold foods - oysters, mussels, prawns, crab, salads, cold meats, sushi rolls, too much to name. And then there's the desserts - macaroons, various bite sized sweeties, slices, mousse, etc. So good and yet so bad (for the waistline)!! They offer Pre Theatre Dining (5:30-7:00pm) as well as regular lunch and dinner. The service is great and staff are very polite. I would definitely recommend particularly if you are staying at the Intercontinental Hotel.

Food came out really quick. Huge selection of dim sum and Chinese/HK cuisine like fried rice,…read morenoodles, BBQ pork, fried wan tons, dumplings. They have some cocktails, plenty of beer, wine and hard liquor to choose from and of course HK style drinks!!! HK milk tea, coffee milk tea , coke/ribena with lemon etc. The food came out hot and tasted great! What we ordered: - Hong Kong style salty fish and chicken fried rice - Old town pan-fried chicken and vegetable dumplings - BBQ 2 choice combo (roasted pork and char-grilled pork sausage) with steamed rice with chicken flavor - braised eggplant with pork mince (delish!!!) - duck tongue - HK coffee milk tea I found their online menu here (they don't seem to have a website): https://quandoo-assets-partner.s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/partner/uploads/de32132f-d416-46f7-af73-72c85b958ec2/MD-document-dd37a228-999a-4f7a-85fb-f2ea5fa53e6a.pdf

#79 for 2021 My…read morecousin wanted to bring me to Barangaroo. She told me to meet her downstairs in the building she works and the restaurant was just outside in the same building. How convenient. She was working a half day to spend the rest with us. It was 2pm and I was starving. She was smart in choosing this time because we noticed it was very busy during the lunch rush. It still was when we got there but a table came up quickly for 3. The restaurant is pretty stylish and modern. The open air seating is very inviting in the middle of the Financial Disctrict. Even with the slight chill air it was nice to be under the sun. Service is not that great here but I could see they were trying. Our server was pleasant making conversation with us. When she found out we were visiting it seemed like she tried to make the whole experience a little better for us by being more attentive. I did peruse the 50 page menu to see what all they had. I wanted it all. The food smelled great. The menu was so intoxicating I told my cousin to order for us. I trusted her decisions. Helps that we like the same kinds of food. 3 dishes would be enough food but my cousin ordered 5 dishes. That's a lot of food. Crispy Pork and Roast Duck combo, Fried Rice, Fried Tofu, squid and Chinese Broccoli Being a Cantonese restaurant my cousin remembered that I would order Chinese Broccoli often here in California. She decided to do the same. Nicely cooked still retaining its' color with a semi natural sweet taste and a little snap. The fried rice is fried rice. Nothing to brag about but good. The tofu was deep fried with a spicy salt. Add nori to it I don't think was necessary but it was good combination. Just didn't like adding more salt to it. The squid too was deep fried with spicy salt. Delicious. Now the pièce de résistance was definitely the pork and duck combo. We're talking lechon quality pork. Very surprising to find that here in a Chinese restaurant because that's a Filipino dish. Combine that with roast duck that was cooked well. This is not the time to talk about how unhealthy this is. Let's just enjoy it for what it is. Two good meats basking in the afternoon glistening proudly and dripping juices of sweetness. Good food with good people. Besides, I was on vacation. Another good eats in Darling Harbour. I'm beginning to think I need to move here.

The Star casino has been reviewed plenty of times and the poker room is just another part of that,…read morebut as most poker players know, the poker room is completely separate from the main gaming floor! The Star Poker Room (aka Big Game Poker) was opened in late 2009 which finally moved the few poker tables out of the hubbub of main room and up into its own large room. You'll know when you're getting nearer as the noise of vocal (read: annoying) players blends with clinking of chips to form a poker orchestra. Tables are opened (generally) depending on the demand for a particular game - $80-200 NLH ($2/$1 blinds) and $200-500 NHL (unsure of blinds - never had that much money on me!) are the most popular, and you may have to wait a while to get a seat at the $80-200 game, but they have plenty of space so if they have enough dealers, they'll try and start more games. Obviously, your playing against other players, so the casino isn't taking all your money, but to make sure that it makes a bit of cash off you, they charge $5 at the top of each hour (and if you start some point during it, they'll charge you accordingly) and they take a 10% from each hand, up to a maximum of $8 (that's the $80-200 game, not sure about others). The games themselves...all my experiences have come at the smaller $80-200 game and it can be a wildly varying experience! If you're into playing a sensible, well-thought out game of poker, then this probably isn't for you - too many players who play the smaller games, just throw many at it and don't really pay much attention to anything else, which can be a little annoying, but have a couple of drinks and get in their mindset and you should be fine! They also hold weekly tournaments as well as some bigger, international competitions, so keep an eye out on the website for those!
