I invested in my first KitchenAid about 15 years ago and LOVED it!! After five years of using it several times a week it started to shimmy and shake across my counter top. It was next to impossible to find a convenient service option so I purchased a new one. The second mixer was not the same quality as my first but I thought that it was still superior to other makes/models. It lasted for almost three years before it decided to start at medium speed instead of slow. The mixer needed a maintenance check, overhaul or refresh ...but having it serviced is still a HUGE hassle. KitchenAids are supposed to last for 10 to 15 years. I believe that the motor will last that long or longer...it's the little things that become annoying and makes you want to reach for the old hand mixer. read more

Too bad that zero stars is not an option. In 2021 we spent over $9,000 on updating our range, refrigerator, and microwave vent hood with KitchenAid higher end (more expensive) matching appliances. Within 3 years, every single one of them failed. First, the very expensive induction range died - needed two control boards replaced at a cost of over $1,000 within months of the warranty expiring - no assistance offered (could not speak with anyone authorized to to provide any assistance, just low level "customer support" run-around). Next, the compressor on the refrigerator went out. Fortunately (?), it was a known issue and they replaced it without charge. Next, the lights in the refrigerator failed. Finally, the turntable in the microwave started making a horrible grinding noise and will not work. Have had to move our $100 Panasonic countertop microwave up from the basement - it actually works much better than $1500 KitchenAid microwave anyway. We had purchased the KitchenAid suite of appliances in anticipation of a kitchen re-model (had to move on the appliances, since our 20 year old Kenmore Elite range had finally bit the dust), but now that we are getting to the remodel, we are just replacing all the KitchenAid crap. It used to be that Whirlpool built quality appliances - the 20 year-old Kenmore Elite refrigerator (built by Whirlpool) that the KitchenAid refrigerator replaced is still running away happily in our garage. In my opinion, do not buy KitchenAid major appliances (admittedly, I like my stand mixer). read more

Customer service request was submitted to resolve issue. The request form stated response from Kitchenaid would be received within 3 days. Placed an order on 12/8, with an estimated shipping date of 12/13. On 12/9 I get my order confirmation with an estimated delivery of 12/13. Nothing until 12/19 when I see a partial charge for my order on my card. Their order status changes to Shipped with an estimated delivery of 12/23. On 12/20 I get an email saying it shipped. Tracking says otherwise. Label created and nothing else. On 12/21 the estimated delivery changed from 12/23 to 12/20, despite it not having even shipped and impossible to deliver to the past. 13 days and 2 unanswered emails later... nothing...except a near $500 charge on my card. This company is a joke with 0 respect for its customers. Save yourself time and frustration and either get your KA from a store or even better buy a different brand. read more

I ordered a stand mixer for a Christmas present and it got lost in their warehouse. original delivery date December 20. I called on December 23 regarding to shipping information and had purchased another one from a retailer (Walmart) and just wanted to cancel. They confirmed the order was cancelled. However, KitchenAid decided to ship it on December 24. I immediately shipped it back without disrupting the packaging. i have called multiple times and they confirm it has been received in their warehouse but not processed as of January 28. They confirmed receipt in warehouse on 1/2. Honestly what is the problem? no other retailer holds up returns like this. Do not purchase directly from Kitchen aid, they have great products that can be purchased elsewhere without this kind of hassle. I have purchased small appliances, oven mitts, kitchen towels, and small kitchen "chachkas" and they are all quality, and to be honest for that quality the prices are not bad at all. And of course there's the infamous Kitchen Aid blender.....I love all the colors that this product comes in! Had to get red to match the red, black, and white Mickey theme of the kitchen. Yes, this can be pricey, but it's top notch when it comes to how well it's made and how easy it is to clean! read more

About 7 years ago I bought a high-end downdraft Kitchen Aid range/oven, it worked beautifully until it didn't. The customer support is what I am complaining about, which I found to be filled with people who know very little about technical support for KitchenAid products and could offer no real customer support. First, they told me that there were no certified KitchenAid repairman in my city of 80,000. So I got a local repairman who came out twice changing out the circuit boards but that did not fix it. He said he could probably fix the oven if he had a wiring schematic diagram. So when calling customer support again, they said they never heard of a wiring schematic diagram. So now I am left with an expensive KitchenAid oven that no longer works with no one who can repair it because of lack of detailed technical specs needed by a repairman. Thanks KitchenAid. read more

Do NOT purchase any KitchenAide appliances. They are HORRIBLE. My stove that cost close to $3000.00 and not quite 6 years old had the heating element blow and blew out a hole in the bottom of my stove. To be specific it is model #KSDB900ES3-1 which is a duel fuel range. just awful. Kitchen Aid did allow a serviceman (without charge) to review cost of repair. The cost repair would have been over $1000.00 and KitchenAide would only allow 40% off of a full price KitchenAide only Range. I purchased a bowl lift mixer from KitchenAid online, but didn't realize how big & heavy it was. Spoke to customer service, very nice, explained return, and I purchased a different stand mixer from the same lady over the phone. Refund for the returned item, was supposed to have been within 10-14 days. I returned it on January 7, 2025, it got to the warehouse on January 10, 2025. Today is February 11, 2025, and although they can see that the item arrived on January 10th, the warehouse has to "check it in," before the refund can be processed. It'll be 10-14 days from THAT time. IT'S STILL NOT CHECKED IN! Customer service can only send emails to the warehouse, they don't have a phone number to contact them; I don't believe that! Every time I call, they're "putting [me] on top of the list," but "this time for real." They have practically stolen my money now. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM KITCHENAID! I purchased everything you need for a kitchen. The ONLY appliance that was worth the money was the double oven otherwise it would have been 1 star. From day 1, I had trouble with the refrigerator. LED lights went out and couldn't return it. ZERO help from the company. I called an appliance repair company only to find out the part/parts to fix this issue were no longer available (the service call was $150). The dishwasher was OK. Microwave is way overpriced in comparison to others on the market. I am fanatical about all of my appliances being the same brand/series so, I stuck with KitchenAid. BIG mistake. Ordered a high end range and panel ready dishwasher - delivery on 7/24/24. Opted for haul away and installation. Range arrived intact, dishwasher with dented door. Installation of range by JB Hunt logistics was slow and incomplete. I had to level the unit and arrange gas line to put it in place. JBH removed old appliances so no dishwasher. Next scheduled delivery of dishwasher was 8/12/24, unit had bashed in door, bent right side support. Received third dishwasher delivery 8/30/24, door bashed in. Bent metal skin back, had JBH complete installation. Installer put an additional hole through cabinet for drain line which stretched it so connection at disposal was pinched shut. Sawdust from hole saw left in cabinet. Hardwood floor has small gouge. Kickplate not installed. Dishwasher not level. Tried to contact Kitchenaid customer care 800-422-1230 to find office closed at 6:00 PM - can't call back until Monday. Note: compared to our 2003 unit, the new KDTF924PPA unit is very flimsy at nearly twice the price. read more

Proceed with caution. I purchased a KitchenAid 30 in. Single Electric Wall Oven Self-Cleaning with Convection in Stainless Steel, which is quite expensive, on September 2, 2023 and was delivered September 8, 2023 and installed on September 11, 2023. We finally attempt to use the stove that would not go past preheat. We contacted Home Depot who has a policy that you cannot return an item after 48 hours, mind you the wall oven was delivered on a Friday and Home Depot does not offer installation. We contact Kitchen Aid who sends a technician out on September 27, 2023, only to learn that the wall oven is defective and needs a control panel, control board, and a thermostat. Sounds like a used, now refurbished wall oven to me, yet I get no discount and it cannot be returned. This is not a brand new wall oven. Now we are stuck with this defective wall oven and have no clue when it will be repaired as all the items are not in stock. Totally disappointed!!! :-( read more

Terrible products and customer service. We bought a new KitchenAid refrigerator in early 2018, by the end of 2018 the rubber gaskets on both doors were completely falling apart. The store that we purchased the refrigerator from replaced them for us. 1 year later the same thing happened again, and then again in March 2020, and then again in December of 2020. Wouldn't you think that there is something going on here with the exact same part failing 4 times in less than 2 years? KitchenAid does not. They say that they use only top quality parts, and since I did not purchase an extended warranty it is up to me to replace these gaskets going forward. Trust me and please DO NOT waste your money on this dishwasher or any other KitchenAid product for that matter! I have owned this dishwasher for just under a year. I purchased it because it had the features I wanted, a high rating and reviews seemed to reflect satisfied customers. I should have dug a little deeper... The "stainless steel" door is not really stainless steel and it has a clear plastic coating on it that is peeling off. Why is it peeling off? Because exterior door is severely RUSTING all along the bottom. The "stainless" interior is also rusting in multiple spots on the inner door, ALL the drawer glides, the walls, the top and the bottom. I followed all the care and cleaning instructions that came with the dishwasher. I contacted KitchenAid within the one year warranty and after waiting for 30 minutes I explained the issue to customer service. They said they had to send a repair service to my home to see the problem. The polite gentleman from the repair service came to my home, looked at the all the rust and peeling and told me it was NOT under warranty as it was cosmetic! I emailed KitchenAid that this was unacceptable and I would like someone to contact me ASAP to explain to me why they are not standing behind an obviously defective product, it has been over a week and I have still not received a response! After searching online and reading multiple reviews at other sites, I see that KitchenAid is well aware about this rusting and peeling issue with their "stainless" dishwashers and continues to sell them! I have yet to see a review that says KitchenAid did the right thing and refunded or replaced the dishwasher. I have searched their website. I'm looking for the model number / part for a replacement bowl. Mine got lost in moving.
