3.5 rounded up to 4 stars for our first dinner in Stockholm! Didn't realize this was a Marcus Samuelsson restaurant when we walked in as we were attracted the menu and the ambience, which felt like it could be a trendy restaurant in LA with its open kitchen concept, great music (like 99% of restaurants in Sweden) and young people!
My friend had the $25 burger (K&T Kimchi Burger - Prime rib burger, cheddar cheese, bacon, kimchi, sesame, Togarashi fries). It was a tasty, juicy burger but $25 because Swedish pricing is insane.
I made myself a little 4-course meal:
*Scallop Crudo: the menu stated "scallop prepared sashimi-style" - tangy. light. tasted fresh. no complaints!
*Gratinerat Ostron (Oysters, Dashi Butter): Can't say that oysters and dashi are a good fit. It just makes it extra fishy. I did end up dipping my perch in the dashi butter and it worked perfectly.
*Perch from Kalix - This was actually a protein side from the urban garden section. I just decided to get it on its own for 115SEK. The only other time I've had perch was in Ohio & it was deep-fried, flaky and stuffed in a taco with a lot of sauce. So, I felt like the perch here was prepared with a little bit too much oil and cooked a smidge too long. That's why I dipped it in the dashi butter & it was perfect.
*More Bang For Your Buck (Seabuckhorn, yogurt mousse, rice paper, matcha green tea meringue) - This presentation on this was lovely and the overall temperatures and textures were fantastic. There were definitely vietnamese shrimp chips in there which added a bit of salt, which was nice. I didn't eat any of the seabuck horn which looked like purple sprouts because it was a little odd but the pop of purple made it very visually appealing. There was no matcha in sight but I had an orange sorbet basically. Still tasty!
