The store itself is a delight with fun plants including Hoyas (my fave). they also have great gift items including a nice collection of Studio Ghibli items as well as lovely plantable cards and other plant related gifts. The salesperson when we visited yesterday was super friendly and informative. The store is always warm and inviting. Prices seem on point with other similar stores in Oakland. I like that they have cats roaming around the garden and the doves they have in the back. They even have places you can sit and take in the peaceful space of the gardens. The value is well worth the price and the lady who runs the place has great knowledge about her plants and is always giving us good advice on how to care for them.

I wasn't sure I really wanted or cared for a bouquet. I'm not a flower person, but everyone said to get them. I quickly went online for some inspiration and found a few designs/color schemes that I liked. I showed the pictures to Kat, and I am just awed at how absolutely gorgeous my bouquet turned out for the wedding. She went to the flower shop for the freshest and most beautiful flowers at dusk, and THEY WERE ALL SO BEAUTIFUL! Did I need the bouquet? No, but the bouquet elevated the look I had for that day. I could not imagine my special day without them. I'm so glad and grateful for Kat's creativity and blowing my expectations out of the water completely! If you are looking for anything for your wedding, plants, a moss wall, a bouquet, center pieces, KAT'S GOT YOU COVERED! She will not disappoint. I promise you that.

Having recently opened at the beginning of April, it seems that not many people are aware of its location in southwest location. But it certainly is a hidden gem that is worth a visit or three! I popped into the store with my girlfriend (who'd been itching to visit it for some time now), and we were pleased to see a large array of plants neatly organized all along the walls of the store (including carnivorous plants!). Complementing the plants were plant-related apparel, artwork, and jewelry. Some body-care products (soap bars, lip balm, lotions and scrubs) and candles rounded out the selection. Overall, it's a really hip and trendy store with a good amount of things to check out! I also had the pleasure of speaking with Kat and Joe, who I believe are the storeowners. They're extremely welcoming and friendly, and we chatted for a bit on their store-opening (apparently, the store before them was a car-wash operation!). Kat let me know that there's an ongoing 25% sale on most of the plants in the shop till the end of April, so definitely come visit the store if you're interested in buying. I bought the following items: 1. Maranta Red - 6" ($18, discounted from $36 due to broken pot) 2. Pilea Moon Valley - 2" ($9.60, discounted from $12) 3. Fragranced Soap "Jade" by Ananda Body Care ($11). The plants in the store all look like they're in terrific condition so I definitely think that I'm getting great value here. NATIVE HERE NURSERY is part of a larger organization, California Native Plant Society. The Nursery…read moreis located at a well-known intersection in Tilden Park in the Berkeley Hills. NATIVE HERE NURSERY is a few paces away from a large roadsign that points out the locations of the golf course (to east), Little Train (to south), and Lake Anza (to north). Upon visiting the Nursery, one becomes aware of hundreds and hundreds of potted plants, each plant situated inside a chickenwire cage, for protection from birds, animals, and curious fingers. Most of the plants are for sale. All of the plants tend to have a humble appearance. In other words, if you are interested in a splashy heliconia, or a peperomia having a wild design like a painting by Ed Paschke, then you need to go to a different type of nursery. During my visit, I had little chats with five of the nursery workers, two young ladies, and three older folks. The workers are friendly and, although occupied and busy with their plants, are willing to engage in a little chit-chat. To a young woman, I mentioned that the only native plants that I knew about were Fuller's teasel and fiddle dock. The worker's eyes lit up, and she knew these plants. (I was not really seeking any information, except for confirmation that I'd somehow got the names right.) I had a longer conversation with two of the older workers, and to her I mentioned the hardiness of the desert holly and of the creosote in Death Valley, and of the juniper trees in Joshua Tree Nat'l. Park. To this, the woman added that when she was in Arizona, she became familiar with tamarisk living in the deserts. I replied, "Well, I know about tamarack, and so I guess that I can also remember tamarisk." Then I asked her how juniper trees could thrive so well in Joshua Tree National Park, despite weeks and weeks of temperatures of about 115 degrees. The woman replied, "Because Joshua Tree is in the high desert, where one finds more moisture than in Death Valley, and where the nights are cooler." "Thank you!" I replied, "so that explains it!" Please see my attached photos of juniper trees in Joshua Tree National Park and of desert holly in Death Valley. It is because of my visits (and devotion) to southern California deserts, that I was able to have a few minutes of quality time with the Native Here Nursery employee. On my way out, I visited the modest gift shop at Native Here Nursery, and bought a cloth patch and a sticker. These are circular, and they read, "California Native Plant Society" with an image of a yellow flower in the center.

I emailed and asked if they have the California Honeysuckle in stock which they did then they say we cant give it to you because it could spread a disease to oak trees (I dont have any oaks nearby just hungry caterpillars) also they do not ship. I live in California, the California honeysuckle is native to California, the butterflies that live in California lay their eggs on the plant but we cant give it to you. They must really hate money or something I dont know whats going on but I guess this is what you call a business. I later found out you can get the plant on Etsy for half the price they are charging here and they will ship it to you within 3 days! so happy caterpillar cultivating!

He's a very sweet Vietnamese guy. Speaks some English but if you know Vietnamese that helps. Everything looked super healthy and well taken care of. When I was there I saw: - Red and green varieties of Thai basil - Lots of chili plants - Succulents - Cacti I ended up buying a healthy Thai basil bush for $15. He charged me $15 but I'm sure you could haggle in a place like this. Come and support this immigrant business. CASH ONLY.
