Town & Country had the lowest current price by quite a bit! In addition, the man who answered the phone was very friendly and knowledgeable. He knew immediately pricing, appointment times, delivery policy etc. I found this to not be true of some other companies. For example, upon calling some of the others the person answering the telephone did not have current prices or know their companies policy on minimum delivery amount etc. They had to have someone call me back. Weird and very annoying. Who has time for that. So I appreciated Town & Country's quick and friendly response. I just received my delivery yesterday. The delivery person was quick and left my bill and a small gift of a nice mug and magnet and company info at the door. Very nice touch! Will use this company again in the future I am sure.

I later learned that AmeriGas had acquired Keen only after I began receiving bills from AmeriGas. I never signed a contract with AmeriGas or spoke with anyone there about transferring my account. When I had a generator installed and wanted to upgrade to a 500-gallon tank, I called AmeriGas several times but was repeatedly placed on long holds and could not get help. One time waiting over 2 hours and exactly at 5:00 the phone went dead. After months of trying, I finally reached out to another firm to install the 500 gallon tank and continued to call Amerigas to remove the small tank. I finally talked to representative, who said customer service had been outsourced overseas and acknowledged that customers were having difficulty reaching the company. I explained my situation and disappointment and asked AmeriGas to pick up its tank, which had recently been filled. I was told I would receive credit for the remaining fuel, and the representative acknowledged that their outsourced customer service was receiving similar complaints from other customers. Instead, AmeriGas promptly removed the small tank and charged me more than $400, applying the fuel credit to that bill without informing me in advance that there would be a pickup fee. When I called to dispute the charge and explain what I had been told, the representative was rude and unhelpful. I paid a portion of the bill because it was all I could afford, but I was still assessed a late fee. I would caution on using this company. There are many other companies to use in the area. If I could give them a -1 star - I would.

The Dixieland estimate was by far the best and $2500.00 lower than the highest. I have been a practicing home inspector for 30+ years and have seen maybe a thousand hot water systems through the years. My background helped me compare apples to apples. Estimates can vary widely due to just what is being installed and replaced and its hard to judge different proposals with different criteria. I tried to make each estimate be roughly about the same job scope. Dixieland won hands down. The estimator was very knowledgeable and professional. The techs were courteous and very willing to field my many questions. As an inspector, I know these systems pretty well but the techs, especially Ethan, still added quite a bit to my knowledge. Nolt's specializes in propane tanks, fills, and supplies. They do so much volume, it keeps their prices low. One thing, if you have a 100 lb tank, they are sticklers for transportation laws. You must transport a 100 lb tank upright, outside the vehicle either in a pickup truck bed, trailer, or one of those small carrier things that hang off a trailer hitch. Smaller propane bottles can be in the car.
