The owner was there as I was shopping, so I got to chat with her while I shopped. She is a one-woman operation! She makes all of the things in her shop, except for a few items, like pottery and knitted wear, which are made by locals. I bought the Pearl Body Glow, Exfoliating Facial Wash, and a body wash with glittery stuff in it. I loved all of them, but I especially love the Pearl Body Glow. It's a hand cream that makes your skin literally glow! It's kind of amazing, and it also smells wonderful. I like to use it in the evening, as a nice way to treat myself. Lumi has all kinds of face and body products, as well as candles, clothing, sage sticks and lots of other items to cleanse all of the things. This is not a woo-woo place, but they do have sage sticks, in case you need to purify a room of something. All of the products at Lumi are made by hand by one person, with thought and care behind them. I love using products on my body that have been lovingly and intentionally made. You can really tell the difference.

Gather's a locally focused, curated gift shop filled with homemade things from all kinds of incredibly talented (mostly, if not entirely) Midwestern artists. If you're looking for a gift for an IU grad, a Bloomington friend or family member, or any person anywhere that appreciates art and beautiful things, shop here. They're located on the Square, perfectly situated for walk-in browsing, window shopping, and inevitably, unexpected (or expected) splurging. Items range from jewelry (earrings, necklaces, broches, buttons aren't really jewelry but there are buttons, and so on) to art prints, planters, handmade bibs and toys for kids and babies, to chocolates, bath things, colognes, candles, and more. I can't remember everything because there's just so much. They've adjusted beautifully to the era of coronavirus by shifting things online (not an easy task), pushing for ppl to continue to support artists as they can. Not only that, but they stand for worthy causes. Just this week, they closed early NOT because they were worried about the safety of their staff during the Black Lives Matter protest, but because they wanted their employees to be able to join in! They've also donated to the cause. If I remember correctly (pretty sure I do), they've also supported women's and refugee rights in the recent past, among many other beautiful, worthy causes.
