However, in my last visit,…read morethey asked if it was okay if they applied fluoride on my teeth WITHOUT disclosing that it would be an extra charge. It took 5 seconds for them to brush on. And when I went to checkout, they told me the fluoride application would be $45 since it wasn't covered by insurance. Additionally the fluoride was very grainy and sticky, and had an awful taste. They also ended up brushing some of it on my mouth/lips and it felt like a mess and very sloppy. Very disappointed at the "hidden costs" since it felt like a sneaky way for them to earn extra money. They provide you "additional services" which I didn't really need since my teeth have had no issues in years, and then you're forced to pay. I will not be trusting them for any future dental care. If they're the type of clinic that tries to find sneaky ways to earn extra money, who knows what future "concerns" or "problems" they'll find with your teeth that you may not really need. I also emailed them about my discomfort in having to pay for services that I didn't need and that they were not upfront with about the additional cost, but they didn't bother to reply.

I highly recommend Dr Chau…read more I chose Dr. Chau on a recommendation of a friend. I switched from/stopped going to a previous dentist because it was too far away and used up too much of a day just for a routine appointment. Over the past year, I've had three major dental incidents, resolved amazingly effectively by Dr. Chau. The first two incidents involved lots of pain. In both cases, Dr Chau made time to see me quickly. Also in both cases, she resolved the problem quickly, permanently and relatively painlessly. The third incident mercifully did not involve pain. It involved restoring one of my front teeth -- it now looks better than new. Dr. Chau is a magician. She has invested significantly in technology for the benefit of patients. For instance, cleaning involves an ultrasound system that is more effective and more pleasant than the old scritch, scritch, scritch method. She also uses digital x-rays that expose the patient to much less radiation and produce images immediately, saving the patient time waiting in the chair while film is developed. The tooth restoration involved curing the bonding material with ultraviolet light. Near the ceiling, Dr. Chau has installed flat-screen monitors that she sometimes uses to show images to discuss issues and treatment options with patients. I've found that being involved in this process in this way has built my trust and confidence in Dr. Chau. When the monitors are not showing x-rays of teeth, etc., they display gently cycling images of orchids to create a calm and relaxing mood. Dr. Chau also employs some low tech, yet thoughtful, measures, such as large dark glasses so you don't end up staring into bright lights. Dr. Chau's staff is invariably friendly and very professional. They often go beyond their normal duties. For instance, at the last cleaning, the hygienist discussed my brushing technique, and suggested a brushing technique that would be more effective. I look forward to being Dr. Chau's patient for years to come. If you are looking for a dentist, please check her out.

Personally would try and find another option for dental care if possible. The front desk staff are…read morenice and the hygienists know what they're doing. However, I would be careful about getting seen by certain dentists at the practice. I historically have taken very good care of my teeth. Only had 1 small cavity in my life up until coming here, and my past dentists have always remarked at how well I keep my dental health in order. However, every time I have come here and seen Dr. Thomas, he has claimed to be finding cavities. The first time he told me I had a cavity, I let him fill it because I have always believed in trusting dental professionals and figured he probably saw something that I didn't. The filling experience was fine, he did a good job. I was more angry at myself for not taking better care of my teeth. I went back to see Dr. Thomas for my normal 6 month follow-up cleaning. Made sure to really brush and floss well in the 6 months between seeing him to ensure there was no cavity this time. Got seen by the hygienist who told me my teeth looked great and it would just be an easy cleaning job. When she finished, Dr. Thomas came in to look at my teeth and boom, all of a sudden I had a cavity. Immediately I became suspicious. He offered to fill it that day, but I told him not to bother and I was getting a second opinion. Went to see someone else and told them about my alleged cavity, and after looking at my teeth they just laughed and said they had no idea what he was seeing. My teeth were perfectly fine, as I suspected. I did go back to Sudbury Dental Excellence after a year, but requested to see a different dentist in the practice. I was curious if for the 3rd time in a row they would find a "cavity". Saw a hygienist and then a female dentist this time (can't remember her name unfortunately), and she didn't find anything out of order, even in the spot where Dr. Thomas had "found" something a year prior. Bottom line, people there are friendly, office is clean and inviting. Dental expertise seems a tad lacking.

After he retired a few years back Dr. Reina Garcia took over. Typically I would shy away from a new dentist due to poor previous experiences as a kid, but I am glad I decided to give Dr. Garcia a chance. She is just as friendly, gentle and approachable. Best of all the staff (Anne, Tracie & Evelyn) never changed and are still very friendly and receptive to questions. As of this review I have been coming here for the past 6 years for my bi-annual cleanings and check- ups. During this time, I have moved further and further away but still come back here every six months because I feel comfortable which is very important to me.
