Nom. Nom. Nom. Is sushi with extremely soft, fresh, and full of flavors. Service staff, but very attentive and our waitress refilled our sencha tea several times without having to ask.
Stopped in for the lunch special. The entrance is on the other side of the parking lot, look for the big sign. As you enter, the interior is clean, new, and cozy. You get to pass the sushi counter on your way to your table. There's also an outside patio though I didn't get to see it. Lunch special with 2 or 3 rolls also comes with a small salad and miso soup. A good and filling meal deal. Tried the spicy salmon, tuna avocado, and eel avocado. Tuna was a very flavorful cut. Spicy salmon and eel avocado were good as well, very straightforward. The side salad and miso soup starter are always welcome and were nice on a colder day. Also tried sea bream (madai) sashimi and they were beautifully cut pieces with fresh flavor. Beautiful interior. Cozy? Spacious? Some of both. Fancy glossy menu and lunch specials, beer selection and full bar, service is friendly, parking is kinda a nightmare. I parked up on 13th above Vine. The parking lot is $25 flat rate. Whew. Food seems like they care. Check it out. Update: omg the mackerel sushi I had was OUTSTANDING. Texture, flavor, nice presentation. Best I've had in months. Pic unrelated, I couldn't wait to eat it.

The drinks were also fairly priced at 11/cocktail and 6/beer. Salmon Platter: (4/5), don't know if this was an off day but the salmon was just okay, nothing crazy Miso soup: (3/5), wasn't the best Spicy tuna: (5/5) I loved these the most, would definitely come back for this roll Shrimp tempura: (5/5) The rolls were huge and i like how they had two pieces of shrimp in each roll. Overall this place was good and i'd come back, but the salmon was a little iffy and comparable to grocery store salmon rolls. Maybe it was just an off day so i'd give it another try.

There was only one other person here, and I generally don't like to patronize where the kitchen is slow, but the food was prepared on an excellent way. The music played was super cool. I ordered the submarine spider roll (beautiful and delicious) as an app. Entree: beef and broccoli bento box with shrimp shumai and broccoli. I know not my best order. But the food was fresh and delicious. I wish the beef was a little more lean, but I'm picky, the sauce was light and yummy. Excellent choice for my meal. The service was also excellent. Thank you.
If you're staying anywhere near the convention center (we were at Hampton Inn), this is really nearby. No wait on a Sunday night even with minimal staff. Great service and even better food! Seriously, as other reviewers have said, the quality and taste are way better than I'd expect at this very affordable price point. The menu is really big with plenty of options for everyone. They also have a really extensive cocktail menu that I'd like to come back and explore. But even the house sake (I tried the cold) was really amazing and refreshing! We tried the Black Pearl and White Lady Rolls (great pairing btw) along with some Yellowtail sushi. Not only were the rolls delicious and petfectly balanced with fresh tasting sushi, but the presentation was beautiful (see photos). The atmosphere was very modern with really interesting decoration and great upbeat music. The music was noticeable but not too loud. Overall, the entire experience was exceptional, even by a West Coast standards (we're from Southern California where excellent sushi restaurants were easy to find.

We ordered two apps and two specialty rolls and couldn't finish. No way their prices justify the quality .. and the quantity of their food. Their service is very attentive as well. Not a big place but they have multiple servers.
Sushi is so fresh and favorable! Quick service too. Having a parking lot next door is also really convenient. Definitely would recommend!

This was the 2nd visit to Kirin House on our trip to Philly. Do yourself a favor and go here. The food and cocktails were soooo good. Server checked on us just enough not to be pushy. Charming interior, hoping they can continue to grow and finish the upstairs (server talked to us about it). The burnt pear old fashioned and Lychee martini were very well balanced. The dressing on the house salad was perfect, had crunchy salmon bites, sushi pizza and Atlantic City roll which were all very good!

Kirin House's sushi offerings were okay. I ordered the Pacific Ocean Roll and my sister had the AK-47 -- LOL at the name. The Pacific Ocean Roll included spicy tuna, avocados, and cucumbers. Very basic. I normally like simple rolls, but this roll lacked flavor. I don't think I'd get it again. The AK-47 had shrimp tempura, avocados, spicy tuna and jalapeños. This roll was tasty! The jalapeños added a nice bite and the crunch from the shrimp tempura balanced the soft spicy tuna texture. I would get this if I ever visited Kirin House again. We also tried the sashimi and the seafood miso soup. The sashimi (chef's choice) came with salmon, bluefin tuna and white tuna. Standard. Lastly, the seafood miso soup was mediocre. The broth was filled with shrimp, kani, and fish. The smell of the fish was a bit overwhelming, but the soup wasn't bad. All-in-all, Kirin House will serve its purpose if you're simply looking for a quick sushi bite. No frills, nothing fancy, just sushi... try for yourself. Cheers! read more
Came here for a late night dinner after a long trip to a conference nearby. Tried the crunchy salmon bite which I thought was really creative and a nice balance of texture and taste. I do think it would be nice to have a kick from some ginger or wasabi maybe but a little soy sauce complemented it nicely! Definitely would recommend for someone trying this place out! The tonkotsu ramen was very filling and the chashu was nicely charred. Toppings were great also and broth wasn't too salty but still had a good amount of flavor. Service was quick overall and they were great at refilling my water. Ambiance was nice overall! Entrance was a little hard to find at first but the decor inside was nice. There were a few rice bits on my seat but other than that things were pretty clean. read more

Excellent restaurant. I went here for restaurant week and it didn't disappoint. The location is very cute, and I can imagine the upstairs being very nice in good weather. Service was very good and prompt. The sushi was overall excellent, the fish fresh and buttery. A good experience, and I will be back! read more
Lover's boat is such an amazing deal! Had a great dinner here with my friend tonight. The boat itself is also really cute and a great touch. The nigiri and rolls were incredibly fresh and tasty. The vibes of the restaurant were pretty great (it was raining today so there were less patrons than normal) and the service is good (water filled when needed). It was slightly confusing when I got there with GPS (just how it showed on maps) but it was otherwise easy to find. I went with a friend and I was pleasantly surprised. Everything we got was delicious, the service was fantastic and the environment was comfortable. I brought home leftovers and my fiancé usually doesn't like sushi but he enjoyed theirs. I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen, this was very pleasant because I am used to the broth being heavy and rich (which I like) but this place takes a lighter approach and it works, I highly recommend it if you are looking for a lighter style ramen. The toppings were amazing and the pork was cooked perfectly. The sushi was also great - good quality and no fishy taste - you can tell that they use good ingredients. Starting off, the interior is wonderful and it feels really cozy. It looks like a nice tavern you would imagine when reading books and/or watching TV. You also don't have to worry about being cold because their heater is turned on really high. Staff is very nice and the music choices are amazing so you can enjoy your food to the max. The lighting is just right(not too bright and not too dim) so no need to worry about straining your eye. Their food is definitely a must try! It's so unique you really can't find another place like this in Philly. Their sushi is truly on another level and everything looks soooo delicious! Don't even get me started on the sashimi because I truly have no words to express how lovely they taste. The quality of their food is quite literally on par with omakases with how fresh and appetizing they are. Even their ginger tastes delicious. They also make sure to make your food look appealing first before serving it to you. The pricing is actually really decent and reasonable for what you are getting(good service, good food, good plating, good music, etc.). Trust me when I say you're going to clear every plate in less than a minute because that's exactly what happened with me and my family. read more

This was a wonderful experience! My drinks were delicious and the sushi was unbelievable! The service was excellent everyone was very polite and drinks and food came out so quickly.
