Kinzi has gyros and shawarma. The gyros are average, not great but not terrible. The shawarma was disappointing in my opinion. Not really authentic, okay in flavor and cut really thick. The hummus and pita was very good. The owner was very nice and attentive and the atmosphere was calm and very pleasant. If you're looking for something authentic, this is probably not your place, but still a decent place to stop in for lunch. read more

Totally stumbled across this place, hungry for lunch on a Sunday. My wife had the fattoush salad, and I had the lamb gyro. Wife raved about her salad, and my gyro was terrific! I'm not a cucumber fan, so asked for the tzatziki sauce on the side. Did not miss the sauce at all! The grilled lamb was flavorful and tender, the tomato, onion, and lettuce fresh. All in a soft, delicious pita. The rice was really good, too. The gentleman I assume is the owner is warm and friendly. We enjoyed very much. I do want to mention that I have been to some Mediterranean restaurants that serve a wide variety of food from the region. This is a basic Greek menu. Nothing wrong with that at all...just don't expect to have other regional dishes like Italian, etc. read more

I really like the flavor of the food here. When I eat here I usually get it to go which is a gyro plate with basmatti rice, lamb, grilled veggies (green peppers, squash and onion) along with pita bread and hummus. I also order the bakleva. This food taste really authentic! My mother always made basmatti rice growing up and it tasted like hers. I will say the first time I was almost turned off from going back, the man at the cashier was shouting at one of the cooks in the back in a very degrating way and it made me think if that is the way they treat there employees I dont think I ever want to go back but I said I would try one more time and ive been back 3 times and never saw the man who was being disrespectful to the staff again, so hopefully he doesnt work there anymore. I'd recommend calling on the earlier side, lately they've gotten overwhelmed with orders and haven't been able to answer the phone or even do a walk-in takeout order. I love this place. I go here often for lunch. I like to order from the appetizer menu. It's large enough for a meal and then some. Tabbouleh from here is my favourite. Always super fresh and so flavourful. They have a lot of take-away orders so people come and go a lot while you eat though the restaurant is never full during lunch when I'm here. I am hoping I ordered wrong. I had the curry and it was absolutely flavorless. Now, I kinda NEEEEDED this to work out for me, as I am often in the area and like a good spicy cuisine- but the food comes to you LOOKING amazing, but after that first bite I'd realized I was on the hook, as I didn't want to offend them on their seemingly new venture- but I didn't want to stay either. The food is delicious, Mediterranean is absolutely my favorite kind of cuisine. However, it's difficult to order with Kinzi over the phone. They don't always answer, and sometimes when they do, they tell you to "hold," though they don't have a phone system with a hold line, and leave the phone sitting intermittently on their counter. Going in a usually pretty simple though. I tend to order the chicken shawarma plate with garlic sauce. I prefer a whole piece of pita, so I can make a sandwich out of everything, but Kinzi cute then into triangles, harder to get all the goodness on one bite that way. Another decent Mediterranean place in the area! I think we have now tried most of the Mediterranean places in KC suburbs, this one is another decent, clean and standard Mediterranean food. We had the lentil soup, beef shawarma plate, chicken shawarma plate, chicken biryani and the Burma pistachio in the end. Plates were a good mix w/ rice/ meat/grilled veggies/tzatziki sauce, hummus and pita on the side. Everything was good! I have a couple of things I would like to add; not to criticize at all but a point for improvement: - we went on a Sunday afternoon after checking it would be open. We get there, according to the sign on the door, time was ok too- but the door was locked and open sign unlit. We almost left, then occurred to me to call. And good thing I did, they picked up and said they had forgotten to turn the sign on and unlock the door! - the lady who was serving said they had some appliance malfunction in the back and they were running a little behind; that was nice she told us that, and also nice of them to get us zaatar pie and tea for free, while we waited for our food - my son had asked to substitute the hummus on his plate to baba ghanoush, which they had said they could, but forgot to actually do it. So taking a point away for professionalism, otherwise great place I think! read more

I had a horrible experience with this restaurant. We ordered takeout last Sunday and everything was fine and tasty until I bit down on a small pebble in some hummus. About 2mm wide, it was just big enough to crack one of my teeth. I called the restaurant only to get an "I'm so sorry, how about a discount coupon?" response. I know from experience that sometimes small rocks end up in dry beans, but the onus is on the restaurant to catch this and remove them before they get on the customer's plate. I really enjoyed the food and the service! I would recommend getting the gyro platter and an order of falafel. My only note is I wish there was a little more meat on the gyro platter, other than that it was very good. I also ordered the Greek platter which was great as it gave you a little bit of everything. We used it as an appetizer platter. I also got the chicken byrani, what was very flavorful and had a nice spice to it. I really wanted to like this place because I've seen how amazing the reviews are, but my meal just did not hit the mark for me unfortunately. I ordered online for pick up, my food was ready when I got there and the lady at the front counter seemed very pleasant. Upon first glance everything looked amazing, the presentation of the food even in to-go containers looked delicious. I started with the tabbouleh because having a friend from Lebanon, I was really excited to try this from here because it sounded authentic based off their description on the menu. The flavor itself is great, very seasoned and lemony, but most tabbouleh I've had usually has more veggies beyond just the parsley so that bummed me out a little, but the flavor was still fantastic! Next I tried the Hummus, because the presentation was done nicely even for to-go ordering. The flavor on the other hand, was lacking something for me. All I could taste was the tahini. The pita bread was very good and soft in texture, but I do wish I was given more than three quarters of a pita bread for the amount of Hummus provided. Last the gyro - I order a chicken gyro with no tomatoes. At first glance this looked perfect, but once I removed the foil I realized that majority of my pita was just lettuce, and there were maybe about 4 strips of chicken gyro meat in my pita. For the $11.99 charged on the website, I could have ordered from several other places and gotten more meat for less money even. The meat itself was good, just wish I would have been given more of it for the cost (ordered through grubhub for pickup). This is a true mom and pop shop in the Johnson drive shopping district. The husband of the shop seems to take care of the front of the house and the wife is in the kitchen cooking delicious meals. The atmosphere can get a little awkward because the restaurant can get really quiet sometimes and if you're dining in, all you hear is the clinging of plates. This could be a good thing because people are focusing on eating! Anyway, the gyro plates and lamb plates are delicious and the Meat is not dry at all. The flavor was on point! I love this place and cannot believe we had a bad experience. We ordered a meal to be delivered a few hours later. However, I received a confirmation that it was being delivered ASAP. I called the restaurant to adjust the time, which they kindly agreed to do. 45 minutes before delivery I called to confirm the order and delivery, which the restaurant confirmed. the delivery time came and went. After 30 minutes past time I called the restaurant, and was told that the delivery driver never appeared. So I called the delivery service (Doordash) and was told that the driver did indeed show up on time but was told there was no order to pick up. they recommended I call the restaurant. I did, but - my call was not accepted. Our order plus tip and delivery was over $80. we are retired on a budget so tonight was going to be a treat, since we picked up our own carryout in the past. I am incredibly disappointed by this bad experience. I love this place and their food is great. But what happened today is a deal-breaker. read more

The lamb meat is so tender and flavorful. The gyro is loaded with lettuce, tomato, onion, tzatziki sauce, and feta cheese. It is huge and incredibly tasty! I will order this again and again! I got the hummus as a starter and that comes in a huge container and lots of pita bread to go with it. We got the greek salad, spanakopita, and falafel to start and they were all pretty good. I don't usually have high expectations with the greek salads when trying new mediterranean places but theirs was amazing. They were not shy with the portion and the dressing on it was different from any other place i've tried. I would go back just for that. The falafel here was pretty standard but the spanakopita was definitely the star of the starters. The outside was crispy and light and the inside had spinach and feta cheese I believe. The best spanakopita i've tried so far. For the mains we got the gyro sandwich meal with hummus and the greek sampler. Its becoming harder to find places that serve just lamb because it can be expensive but this place offers a lamb only option. They also didn't up charge for the lamb which was a pleasant surprise. Matter of fact, all of their prices were cheap considering how much food you get. The lamb was really good on both dishes. For drinks we got the Turkish coffee and with a tiny bit of sweetener it was really rich and tasty. It was the perfect drink to pair with our meal. We will definitely be coming back! read more

Eating here twice. Food is good service not so much. The tea is super weak. And when they refill my glass, no ice was added so I was just drinking warm weak tea. The first time was during lunch on a Thursday. The young man who is the waiter was fantastic and very attentive. We got our food relatively quickly. The second time I ate was on a Saturday afternoon at 2. That same young man was not there; the owner was our waiter. My gyro took a minimum 25 minutes. I had to ask a few times if they forgot about me. I was just about to leave when they finally brought me my food. No apologies for the wait he did not bring me my check, I had to go to the register and wait for them. The upside is the food is good except for the tea, and you can always get a seat without having to wait. The downside is the service from the owner. And it would be nice if they could give you more ice with your refill. read more
