He was prompt, the crew put it up very quickly (impressed the neighbors, Juan said the more challenging the situation the more fun it is, sort of like Tetris). Price was much more reasonable than I thought it would be. Most importantly, it feels totally safe and solid. Would recommend without reservations, turned something I was anxious about into a great adventure.

My wife and I first worked with Kevin when he was recommended by the Pella window folks in Berkley. We were installing oversize 10' sliding doors in the back of our home. The only access to the back of the house was through the house. One contractor proposed craning them over the top of the house (read EXPENSIVE), Kevin looked at the job, and was confident he and his crew could get them in w/o craning - which they did. We have since confidently relied on Ashbury construction for many many home improvement jobs - large and small over the last 10 years. Three things stand out every time we work with Kevin. His quote is golden, they are always on time, they clean up the work space at the end of each day, and the skill level of every member of Kevin's team reflects the old world expertise of workers trained by the guilds; be they carpenters, plumber's, or any other home improvement expertise you can think of. The biggest plus to me though is I have complete peace of mind when Kevin's team is on the job. That I must say is priceless.

It's a massive and messy job, and I was still living on one bedroom while they did it. Communication with Christian was excellent. He made sure to set expectations up front (especially with me living there) and to regularly check in with updates. If there were any changes to the timeline, Christian was quick to let me know. Having worked with many sub-contractors, close communication is key to success in any project. The results speak for themselves. Marcos crushed it. The walls look beautiful. We've had other sub-contractors out for more work, and they each have complemented the walls. And it makes the entire place look cleaner and more modern. Additionally I added on some work while the team was here. Christian was accommodating and provided very fair pricing for the additional work. And even touched up some of the areas another contractor had roughed up. I greatly appreciate the flexibility and help. Like I said when I started, I highly recommend A1.

This involved tearing down stucco on two floors, replacing the damaged wood, installing new windows, adding insulation, and generally rebuilding the front side of my home to code. Jose was helpful every step of the way. The estimate was fair and the project did not stray from the original estimate. They passed every inspection without any issues and were clearly familiar with the permitting process in SF. They proactively identified issues with my new roof installation and replacement windows. Addressing these issues delayed the project, but ensured that the work they were doing wouldn't be compromised. There was also an area of damage that was not identifiable until the walls were torn down. Luckily, Jose had warned me ahead of time that this was possible, and the change order was reasonable. All the workers were respectful when entering my home and knowledgable in their craft. I asked many questions along the way and they took the time to help address any concerns I had. Thank you to Johnny and Zen who handled the carpentry work and Mariano and Benjamin who handled the painting!
