I usually place my order as a pickup through Uber Eats, which is super convenient. This time, I went in with a Taylor ham, egg, and cheese, plus a chicken salad bagel with scallion cream cheese on a plain bagel--and it honestly made me happy. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and really well put together. I know its weird lol but cream cheese is my jam. Sometimes I'll even add a hash brown inside a bagel, and I love that you can fully customize your order to match exactly what you're craving. Waited 45 minutes for 2 bagels while people came in after us got their food and left. When I asked where my order was they we rude and said they were short staffed. As if that's my fault. We just moved from the city and have been on a hunt to replace all our usual spots (bagels, coffee, sushi, pizza, etc etc). Was hesitant to try this place because of the mediocre reviews; I'm not sure why this place has an avg 3 stars but they have the best bagels we've had in Kinnelon so far! Was THRILLED to see they serve jalapeño cream cheese here (my fave) and they also have jalapeño bagels too! Will def try those on another visit. I got an everything bagel toasted (I know, sue me, I like a little extra warmth and crunch) with jalapeño cream cheese and it definitely hit the spot on this chilly, snowy weekend. My husband had a sesame bagel with plain cream cheese and he agreed that it was really good and also better than another local spot we tried a couple days ago. Coffee was decent too! Place was busy on sunday morning but it looks like you can order ahead to pick up. The staff were super nice and were working their butts off to get through the morning rush. The menu pricing is somewhat misleading! It lists bagel - $1.00 and underneath, cream cheese - $2.50. I assumed it meant a bagel with cream cheese would be $2.50, which is pretty reasonable, but imagine my surprise when my single bagel with cream cheese comes out to $3.99? I'm from LA and I didn't expect to see LA pricing like this in what I thought would be a homey east coast bagel place. At least clarify on the menu that it's JUST a shmear of cream cheese that your $2.50 is going towards. Because seriously no one would buy just a dollop of cream cheese on its own for $2.50, right? Also this one is my own fault for ordering a green bagel, but the jalapeño bagel has just barely a hint of what appears to be flakes of dried jalapeño, but otherwise is simply a very bready and burnt bagel disguised to be jalapeño flavored. Maybe they're hoping if the bagel is bright green you can really imagine the jalapeño flavor. There's plenty of bagel places around here you're probably better off going to. This place was so rude that I felt the need to download this app and write a review, I went in and asked for a bagel with Taylor ham egg and cheese and the eggs over well, When I noticed the cook break up the eggs I said excuse me but that's not over well, The cook said no problem I'll make you to new eggs I said thank you. Then the girl behind the counter said next time you come we only make eggs one way, we are a bagel shop, so dont come in expecting special ways of cooking this is not a diner. Today, We ordered 2 bagels with lox spread at $4.00 per bagel. When we got home we found that The amount of spread barely covers the bagel. I called to complain and asked for a store credit. This place is outstanding! We usually order the Sopranos which are excellent, but when I called it in they mistakenly heard chicken Cubano sandwiches instead of Soprano sandwiches. What a "delicious" mistake! Marta made these Cubano sandwiches which were LOADED with chicken and other yummy ingredients. I've given this place quite a few chances because the first time I went, I really enjoyed it. However, the second time, they called my name and placed a bag down. Keep in mind that I'm a NYer as I write this. This is one of the best bagel places I frequent and yes they are based in NJ. You can get your usual bagels and some that can only be found in the best bagel places including the French Toast Bagel. The place is always busy and slammed on the weekends, but it's always worth the wait. I flew in one time from King Kai's Planet for a quick bite to eat. Everyone looked at me funny when they see the spikey haired guy in an orange gi with a beautiful woman walk in. Little did they know that it was me, and not Mr. Satan, who saved the Earth, more times than I can literally count! I'm giving Kinnelon Bagels 1 star for a very specific reason: they use a fake butter / oil butter blend product but they call it butter. And I specifically asked if they use "real, regular butter not a butter spread product" and the person helping me said yes, it's real butter. What I got on my bagel was a tasteless oily spread that was nothing close to butter. The worse part is that I have a sensitivity to some oils like canola oil, etc. and although it's not a serious allergy it meant that my throat was itchy for a few hours after trying the bagel. My advice? Use whatever cheap butter substitute you want, but just be honest about it. THAT's the issue. Also, anyone who cares about food uses real butter! read more
