OK, forget all the previous reviews for this place. They are null and void. It has just re-opened again under new management.
They're open Wednesday through Sunday from 12 noon to 9pm, with the evening restaurant open from 5pm. They do a Thursday lunch deal from 12-4pm where you can get 2 courses for £5.95; there's also a Sunday roast special at £6.50.
On a Friday evening, we found it rather quiet with only one other table being occupied. Still, this did mean that the service was very efficient and it came with a bit of friendly banter too.
The menu selection is a bit limited - it's basically pub food but prepared very well. We opted for the fish and chips (it was that or the scampi as neither of us eat meat). It arrived with a side of some baby carrots and peas, and the fish was in a gluten-free batter and with home-made tartare sauce. Certainly very tasty and it did the job as far as feeding us went.
If the menu had been a bit more extensive and adventurous, I'd give this place more stars. I certainly have no complaints about the standard of the food and I hope they do well in future, but I think they'll need to stretch themselves a little if they want to develop a regular clientèle. read more
