The coffee, I got a shaken espresso and asked for a splash of cream. Must have been half, half and half. So milky I didn't really taste the espresso in it. I also got a turkey sandwich. That was pretty good. The bread was a slightly higher quality than I would have guessed. It was good. I would order that again. Their sign on the drive-thru window says they are short on pennies and are rounding to the nearest five cents, but if you pay with a credit card, they still charge you the higher rounded amount. I've brought it to their attention and they look at me like a deer in headlights. So basically the prices on their sign where you order aren't what you're getting charged. Wow! I was at a chain coffee shop when I spotted this cafe accross the street and decided to walked my way over instead. It was a great decision! I asked for something strong but sweet and was served their version of an iced Red Eye (coffee with esspresso). It was amazing. It woke me right up but was still sweet enough that it didn't make me feel overwhelmed by the caffeine. The desserts looked amazing and they had a soft serve machine with a toppings bar!!!! He sets the price, and as soon as we are about to pay the cashier states that he needs to increase the price to reflect the price of the cup my water will be in. Kinley's is a solid place to study or hang out. I would come here often to study long hours. There are many outlets around and tables that are good for individuals and/ or groups. The benches can be slightly uncomfortable however. There is also outdoor seating. WiFi comes on the receipt after the purchase of an item and hours go pretty late for El Paso standards. They have various teas, coffees, and foods. They also have a frozen yogurt machine there if that's your thing. I would often get a pastry or cake from the window because they always look good. Overall, very solid place to get work done. Food options are solid even if you are not studying and just want to hang out. I don't live in El Paso anymore, but I did when Kinley's first opened - I literally remember when they opened. They've now been around a while - they are obviously doing something right. Part of it, no doubt - is it's good to be a larger coffee shop with great proximity to a university campus. It's safe to say I've been to Kinley's intermittently throughout their entire existence - most recently the week of June 3, 2022. What I found was...well, borderline disappointing. The reader must know I come at this review with a new appreciation for coffee which developed over the last, say, ten years. I'd MUCH rather go into a locally owned coffee shop than a big chain machine slinging burned coffee from a burner (come on, you know the one - there's a location right across the street). My wife and I have also become amateur coffee connoisseurs; we grind our own beans for pour-overs and have ordered coffee from a great variety of roasters from across the country. So, yeah - we're snobs - no doubt. When I ordered, I asked the barista about the coffee, but he didn't know and had to ask. Turns out, the beans are neither supplied nor roasted, locally. Additionally, I did not see, and do not see from old photos - options for pour-overs (which changed my appreciation for the taste-extracting process of brewing). Coffee shops shouldn't just "sling coffee", they should know and invest in their education about beans, roasting, and options for brewing. Hope they grow in this regard. Also, disappointed there were very little menu options. All available during my visit was a small display case of pastries. But, I see in old photos they used to have a larger breakfast and lunch menu (perhaps COVID related cutbacks). I hope they can get back to where they were when those menus were on the boards. In the end, I'm sorry to say I feel Kinley's lost a step, but I'm hopeful for a comeback. Next time I'm in El Paso, I'll check. read more

Delicious spot for coffee in El Paso! We recently came here for the first time and were not disappointed. I ordered a mocha frappuccino, and it was so so good. The taste reminded me of a mixture of vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, and coffee. My boyfriend ordered a hot mocha latte, and he really enjoyed it as well. The drinks here are also very reasonably priced for the size! We each got a large and felt like it was a better deal than you get at a lot of other coffee shops. Solid coffee shop with excellent coffee but terrible parking. This is one of my first stops to a coffee shop in the El Paso area and it was a great choice. I ordered the HoneyBee flavor latté and was blown away at the flavor. Sweet but not overbearing. Tasted of honey but also with a nice hint of espresso. Biggest issue is the parking. There are about 12 parking spaces total which makes it very much a "first come, first serve" type of place. The interior is also made in a way that makes it focus on hunkering down to study or do work so you have to be lucky to get parking. This deters me sometimes from going, especially with a Starbucks literally right across the street. I will probably come here a lot. Def go if you need to get work done. read more

I ordered a hot lavender latte, it was very smoothe and the coffee tasted rich the lavender wasn't too over powering you would get the perfect amount each sip. the blueberry muffin was good i would recommend it warm rather than cold. I wanted a crepe for breakfast today and a coffee. So we decided to find a local place, I'm glad we did. It's kittie corner to a Starbucks. Line was long there. It wasn't here. That has nothing to do with the atmosphere or quality of their products. Now I've never had a Frappe before. But on their menu is an Oreo Cookie version. I didn't realize that a Frappe ends up being very much like a Shake, but with a coffee kicker. I gotta say, it was amazing! I got my crepe too. Build your own. I've frequented Kinley's a couple of times for study purposes and it has never failed me before. Location - The coffeehouse and tea house are right next to each other as well as to UTEP which makes it convenient for students to come and study. The parking lot is a bit small and narrow though, so try to come at a time whenit won't be too crowded. Just a heads up, the tea house is also located inside a GECU which is a bit odd, but it works! I was definitely very confused the first time I tried finding the tea house. Ambiance - The coffeehouse has plenty of tables; however, only the ones next to the wall have outlets. Beware though that it is darkly lit. The tea house however is well lit with lots of natural sunlight coming in and is a bit quieter due to it being inside a GECU. There are high tables there right next to the windows and makes for a great studying place as you're not too distracted by other things going on around you. Service - The service was great at both locations and they are always happy to help when you're feeling indecisive and overwhelmed by the options. Food - The food at the coffee house is decent, although the coffee is subpar. My favorite though is the blueberry tea at the tea house - not too sweet and just the right amount of caffeine to get me through studying. Pricing - Pretty reasonable considering its right next to a college campus. Overall, it was a good experience for the price and I would recommend coming to Kinley's if you're looking for something hot or just a place to study. P.S. They do serve a build-your-own ramen at the tea house which I have yet to try, but it has smelled amazingly good everything I've walked in. Is definitely on the to try place! read more

I've been here twice now and might return for the food. The food is great! I had the Soyrizo bagel, which has soy based ground sausage looking thing, with egg and cheese. It's a bit spicy but it is delicious. My wife had the Avocado BLT which is actually made with spicy guac and not just sliced avocado. So that too had a kick. I probably wouldn't like that one, but the wife was happy with it. Now, the coffee! In my humble opinion it sucks. I've had plain black, which was a step up from dirt; soy latte, which was meh; and the wife had a cappuccino which does not impress. I tasted it, and dirty sock water probably tasted better. Considering that it's a tea and coffee house I was disappointed in the coffee. I'm by no means a coffee snob so take the coffee review with a grain of salt. (I enjoy Taco Bell coffee, Starbucks, and even McDonalds, but not Donkin Donuts). The atmosphere is great, the parking sucked but they do have parking, there's free WiFi with the password on your receipt, and the service staff was friendly and helpful. So come here for the food! Kinley's just does customer service right and for that alone, three stars. The other two stars are obviously because the drinks and delightful pastries are seriously on point. I usually meet up with friends here for a latte and some crepes. But there are really so many food options here...fro-yo, pastries of every persuasion, and ramen. Everything is so good and will seriously have you hooked. It's hard to determine which Kinley's gets more packed because both places are a huge hit with the community, but I usually pick KHCT when I want a more low key ambiance. In the past couple of weeks I've been to KHCT a few times, but when I went yesterday the doors were locked. WHAT?!? I continued to check all of the doors and didn't realize until I was walking away that there was a rather large sign saying they'd be closed til Saturday for their 10 year anniversary. Doh! I walked over to KHCT's sister business, Kinley's Tea House and picked up a Jasmine Milk Tea. After a few minutes I realized the weather was perfect to be outside so I marched back to KHCT and plopped down at a table on the patio. The owner actually came over and instead of asking me to leave, he thanked me for sticking around. His sincere gratitude really put a smile on my face and reminded me why I continue to go to Kinley's because beyond having great eats and drinks, Kinley's staff and owner are personable, courteous, friendly, and bubbly. read more

I never would have considered El Paso to be a coffee shop place. That image is generally associated with Seattle but El Paso is really impressing me. I had initially been checking out the various Starbucks locations but I quickly realized that I should be supporting local businesses and getting a feel for the different types of coffees available to us in town. Kinley's was right on our way back from Tabla back to our hotel. It was the mid day slump for us so we wanted to get some caffeine to jazz us up. Yelp helped us out and showed us all the great coffee drinks we could order and the wonderful foods. Unfortunately we had just ate so we were coming primarily for the beverages. I got myself a cold brew iced coffee which was wonderful. I take it black minimizing the amount of calories and maximizing the amount of coffee I can drink in a day. Service was quick, friendly and efficient. They also have breakfast all day, crepes, soft serve and lots of baked goods. People come here to study, work or for a meeting. Excellent little coffee house. I'm very happy I found this place only a mile from my hotel. I had their Bacon Egg and Cheddar on a plain bagel and it was excellent. All of the ingredients were fresh and cooked to perfection. The service was fast and friendly. The ambiance was warm and inviting and the atmosphere was quiet. Finally, the coffee was hot and fresh. Thank you for giving the Worst stomachache and Kidney pain and headache this morning 1/20/23. I ordered a Hot Chi Tea. After ordering, I forgot to mention that I am lactose intolerant, I ask what other milk substitutes they carried, they said Almond milk and Soy, which I am highly allergic to as well. I ask for my money back before they even made the Tea. The young server ask her Manager and they said they carried Oat milk, I am not crazy about the product, but I guessed they didn't want hassle with a refund and I didn't want to turn into a big deal. I know Oat milk has distinct flavor, it's a little fibrous, but as continued to drink it was too creamy. SURE ENOUGH I was having all the symptoms of LACTOSE INTOLERANCE PAIN. WELL THAT'S THE LAST TIME I will go to Kinley's I should just listen to my INTUITION and gotten my money back and have deal Food Toxicity. Or just told them keep the Money....
