Like most of the 1-2 star reviews here, the issue is the same. Good luck trying to get someone on the phone to understand that you have more than 1 tank in more that one location. I now just lay in wait for the scheduled yearly delivery for my propane stove and pounce on the driver and ask him to top off my generator tank while he is here. The local driver is great and alway very accommodation and happy to do it. When I signed on It was still Kingston Propane and I spoke directly with local folks. Had I known they were going to be bought out by AmeriGas I would have gone elsewhere for sure. Also I believe that there is supposed to be some sort of tank testing at 10 years, which my tank is now. Hmmmm, I haven't heard about anyone coming to assess the tank, I guess I need to get on the phone...wish me luck. read more

Nothing but excuses. I requested on the phone to fill 2 tanks on my property. One was 125 gallons and down to 20 pct and the other was a 50 gallon that was 80 full. They came while we were not home and filled only the small tank. Therefore my fireplace was not filled. I called and said there had been delivery mistake and the large tank was not filled. The person who was assisting me on the phone said that the order was for only one tank and asked if I wanted to schedule another delivery. I said yes and asked when. She said 7 to 10 days. I said that was unacceptable. She said it would be $300 for emergency fill. I said it wasn't my mistake, why do I have to pay. Well I ended the conversation with the delivery 7 to 10 days and said I would write a bad review. There you have it. Poor customer service. read more

Horrible customer service. I've been with them for many years and that is my fault. They refuse to give me a tank with a gauge. I have asked for automatic delivery and they refuse. When my tank runs out they charge $140 to do a leak check since it ran out. If you are not home at the time of the delivery and they can't do a leak check they turn off the propane. When you call you are calling the Phillipines! It takes days to get ahold of them. I need to save people this incredible ordeal. read more

STAY AWAY!!!!!!! Is there a way to give zero stars? I made a request for delivery on August 18. Said would be here between the 19th and 25th. Here we are the 29th and I am out. But since Kingston Propane was bought by AmeriGas (Ohio, bills Dallas TX) in February 2020, customer service for billing questions has been negligent, if not zero. Phones not answered. Kingston propane aka Amerigas is by far the worst delivery services I have ever experienced. Each time we order propane they tell us they will send a text to let us know when they will be coming so we can put the dogs inside. Since they've NEVER once done this, I fenced the dogs into my side yard and away from the tank ahead of time. So the propane truck pulls up to the opposite side of the house as the tank and the driver, who never gets out of the truck and proceeds to eat a sandwich, then sends me a text that he was unable to deliver propane because of the dogs. I run out to the truck as he's pulling away and tell him he's on the wrong side of the house, the dogs are fenced in, and that he never sent a text. I ask him to back up and go to the correct area where the tank is located. He rolls up the window and drives away!!! Are you F*%#ing Kidding Me?!?! read more

Had to give a single star because Yelp won't let me give a lower rating. Been a spring/summer of frustration with Kingston Propane. It all started when I contacted them in the Spring to get Propane tanks to heat my pool. The sales rep said installation would be free. When they came to set it up I was told I would be charged and had to threaten to have them take the tanks back since the sales rep said it would be free. In August I received a bill for a tank rental fee. Was never mentioned by the rep and when I called Kingston Propane, I was told that if I had another delivery, it would take me over the minimum and the fee would be waived. So I ordered a delivery, paid for it and called to get the fee waived only to be told that they don't waive the rental fee. If you are up for ongoing frustration and being lied to, then Kingston Propane is the company for you. Otherwise, stay away from them. read more

Absolutely the worst business I have dealt with in my 20 years of home ownership. Slow, if any, response to refill requests and then act like they are doing you a favor when they finally show up. Non-existent "customer service." Got so fed up, we dropped them for our big pool tank but, unfortunately, are stuck with them on our stove tank. Just got a notice that our annual tank rental of $88 was 30 days overdue so they charged a $36 late fee!!!!!! The absolute WORST company ever. I paid for a delivery up front on Friday. I was told that i needed to stay home all day today Saturday, which I did and still no show. Had been with Kingston since 2006 for our whole house generator and other appliances but they let us run out of propane (we are a will call customer) with a nor'easter on the way. They said we would get propane well before the storm but did not. We ended up having to stay in a motel in Mansfield MA for two nights. When we finally switched companies it took 7 calls and over three months to have them pick up their old tank and received a bill for almost $400 for restocking, propane recovery (which they resell), service fee, etc. It's not easy to change companies but so worthwhile. We went with company in Plymouth that starts with the letters Ch. They are over $1.50 less for propane are spot on when they make a promise. I suspect the 5 star reviews on this site and others are mostly not real. Do not do business with this company, you will be sorry. read more

DONT DO IT!! DONT DO IT!!! DONT DO IT!!! I would like to rate this company 0 ZERO stars. I switched after their marketing man Paul made promises and pitched an incredible deal. I signed a contract for a set price for 24 months, and was told that I would be able to make monthly payments all year long so when the winter came I would have a credit. Well don't fall for this bait and switch tactic it is not true, what they don't tell you is that they are going to run your credit and deny you. Then you are told that you have 30 days to pay, then when you need a tank fill they tell you you must pay in advance.... WTF! Why? I actually left a company that I had to have my balance paid off before a delivery was made and the price was outrageous. I decided to go with this horrible company to try to keep my business local and they were so pleasant until I became a customer. Now they don't give a s$)t So let me get into the Customer service reps... No matter who you speak with they are rude, unpleasant, unprofessional, uneducated, uninformed, untrained, and just don't care about you at all. When you ask to speak to a boss/supervisor they say they will take a message and have them call you back...(please don't hold your breath the call IS NOT COMING). . I have spoken to Paul, Cindy, Keri, Carrie Ann and they never have the same information. It always is different each time you call and there is no continuity with reporting amongst any of them. I am a first time homeowner/first time propane user. Unaware of how this all works, I did not contact them immediately upon buying my house, while I worked on renovations. The propane is solely for a stove, which was disconnected shortly after the sale, and a gas fireplace (it was Spring/Summer) With no contact whatsoever, approximately 4 months after purchase, they came while a friend and a contractor were working in the house, disconnected my *full* tank without a word to either of them, and took it. When I called to resolve what was apparently a misunderstanding, they were immediately rude, dismissive, and insisted that I was stupid and out of luck, despite my attempts to keep it pleasant. They refused to offer any solutions or answers when I repeatedly asked why their service man could not have knocked on the door, why there had been no contact with me from their end, or how to resolve this issue. They claimed the tank was nearly empty, despite their last visit here being a pre-sale check to ensure it was full, because I had to pay for all fuels to be topped up as standard house buying procedure, and that they were going to send the money for the fuel left over, minus a steep fee, to the previous owner, despite my telling them that I had proof that I paid for that fuel. They had absolutely no contact with me once I purchased the property. They claimed they had been by in March to turn off the gas - not true - that was their pre-sale level check/top off prior to the sale. I closed on the house at the very end of March, and the propane was still on at that time, and worked again a couple of months later when the plumber checked the gas fireplace. The only gas used that entire time was for a couple of pots of tea before the stove broke. The ladies answering the phones were incredibly nasty from the moment they realized I was calling with an issue. Attempts to speak with a manager led to nowhere. Promises to have him call were empty. I have not heard from them since, and they were painfully clear that they had no intention of working on a beneficial resolution. All they wanted to speak with me about was starting a new account with no compensation for the full tank they had taken. Spare yourself the hassle. read more

Got a 'Buy 1 Get 1 FREE' card in the mail (for every gallon on your first bill). Called them. Signing up with them is more difficult than opening a bank account, but that's besides the point. They said they'd have to email me a form to fill out & return. I asked when I'd get the email - they said immediately. 3 hours later, still no email. Called back & spelled out my email address again in case the first rep got it wrong. Told it would be sent immediately. 2 days later, still no email (checked junk mail obviously). I've read some bad reviews about rudeness etc, but if they can't even be bothered to sign you up, what chance do you have of actually getting some propane? read more

I would highly recommend Kingston propane-to any and all potential clients that want to be treated by a company, as if you the customer,and your business relationship really matters to them,as a local business and that they will service your account when you NEED them... (8 degrees and a senior citizen at home when your tank is on empty) the customer service was extremely prompt,professional and above and beyond what my prior service co. had ever provided in 15 years! ( they were Too busy all about the money they can squeeze out of you.) This is one of the worst companies I have dealt with since living in the North East. They constantly miss delivery dates, due not update equipment when they say they will (going on 6 years now that our tanks need to be replaced), give you a hard time when your tank runs out for not alerting them (which is tough to do when your tank is old an needs a gauge that you've been promised) and then they ding you for running out of gas. As others have said, don't do it! I purchased a home with an existing tank from Kingston Propane. I switched the contract to my name in December 2017, expecting a delivery shortly thereafter. No delivery ever came, so I followed up a few times with no reply. Eventually I stopped trying and figured I'd deal with it when it ran out. Today, I saw their truck pulling out of my driveway with the propane tank -- no call, no knock. When I called to alert them and get it sorted, the woman who answered was incredibly rude and uninterested in my business. I was told they couldn't come back for several weeks, despite having made the mistake of taking away the tank of a contracted customer. Poorly organized, no customer service - awful! read more

Do yourself a favor and do not give this company any of your time or business. Customer Service - there is no customer service at this company. They have some rude, uninformed, uneducated, ill-mannered women that answer the phone that seem to hate their jobs. When you call they struggle to pul;l up your account even if you have the account number ready. They struggle getting you an appointment. On Monday I called and I was told 3-5 days. On friday I called and the women said Saturday (5th day). I waited all day and no gas delivery. Today I called, Monday and Cindy gave me attitude and said it could be up to 15 days. Then she informed me that when they say, the ticket is open and you are scheduled for delivery on Sat it doesn't actually mean Saturday. Oh, it gets even better...I then ask Cindy when I can expect to get gas, she said tomorrow - Tuesday (day 8). I said is that a date I can actually rely on? She said she would leave a note. Can I count on that Cindy? "Like I said, I will leave a note." Oh, thanks for the attitude, how professional. Then I asked Cindy for her manager's name, with hesitation she gives it to me. Then I asked for a phone number, she doesn;t have one. Then I asked for an e-mail. Cindy said she doesn't know it. WOW!! Did this just happen? Reliability - Zero. Beside this particular incident. I had another in which I signed up for automatic deleviery 2 times. I requested the application. They mailed it to me. I completed the form and mailed it back. I confirmed they received it and then I ran out of gas. I called and we did the process all over again. I ran out of gas again and called. I spioke to a woman and she told me, that my tank wasn't big enough for automatic delivery. Oh, well thank you. I wish someone could have told me that sooner or denied me sooner. Do not waste your time. There are many other companies to choose from. You are better off trying your luck with another company rather than spend the time needed to deal with these unprofessional people and the inconveniences they create. read more

They randomly started charging me a rental fee and when I questioned it they had no explanation. I asked them to please come and take the tank as they were also charging me $36 every month late fees. They are the worst. I call to have the tank filled and despite being told multiple times in the past that it takes 3-5 days, they suddenly move the goal post and say it's 5-7. Fine. But another nor'easter is coming so I call back on day 4 and ask where we were on their schedule. They say "Well, it's really just been 3 days since you called (it wasn't) and we don't really guarantee anything less than 10 days". WTH?! Since when?! They have me over a barrel as no other propane will come because it's their tank. I wait and wait. I call on day 10 and they say I'm on the schedule for that day. Great. I wait. Nothing. I call back the next day and they say our delivery wasn't "guaranteed". They're coming back to the area "tomorrow". Meanwhile, yet another nor'easter is coming and my tank is on fumes. No heat in the house if power goes out (again). Their customer service is a complete joke. I will be looking at replacing them ASAP. terrible company they've been delivering to our home since May 2018 and all of the sudden tell us they cant deliver anymore unless they move our tank further away from our AC unit due to safety issues. not sure why all of the sudden safety become a priority but it wasnt for the first 6 deliveries apparently. lady told me they only care about the distance if its during summer months when they think you are using your AC. tried to bill me $130 to move the tank. i told her if they didnt move it at no cost we'd find a new company and she said "ok" read more

One of the worst fuel business in the area. Nothing seems computerized with them. I've had to always leave a message. No one ever answers the phone. I completed an application for a fuel account, after I discovered my landlord required it. I started off with an emergency delivery to my cottage and was billed for 2 tanks, as opposed to one. The credit was supposed to be placed in my newly-established account. The company then stopped working on the Cape and transferred my account to Amerigas. Amerigas has no record of my "account" and only has the name of the last tenant. The credit in my account went to my landlord because Amerigas has no record of me. Kingston Propane, gotta hand it to you... now I see why we are so dependent on other countries for services. You are obviously an American Failure. read more

The customer service is horrible here. I had multiple phone calls with multiple people to get my propane tanks, that were empty, filled. I was told three to five days before they could get out. I asked if there was any way to make it sooner and I got a very rude response. I finally went with another supplier that came out the same day. When I called Kingston to cancel my order and told them why, the response was the other supplier just wanted my business that's why they came out so fast. They never deliver when they say they are going to. Even when you're on an automatic list to fill. Unfortunately it's a monopoly because you have to pay to have them remove their tanks (if you can get them to come at all) in order to hire another company. Rude woman who answers the phone. Ruined my weekend pool party as there was no propane even though I called 2 weeks prior. Was told 3 - 5 business days. On the 5th business day I had to call again and was told I was on the next day's delivery truck. I had to work the next 2 days. Doesn't matter if your elderly, have newborns, are on your death bed you will pay their exorbanant prices and then wait and wait and wait until they deliver. The girls in the office at rude, have no idea what customer service is. My parents had Kingston propane and when they passed I Inherited the house in 2112. Everything was fine until last week. The driver came to the house and my friend went out front to see him. He told my friend he couldn't access the tank because there were tree branches in the way. Funny, but nothing was any different then the other 50 times before.. The driver left and I was furious. I called their office. The woman called the driver and the driver said stuff need to be cleared out of the way. I told her the driver was lying there is nothing in the way for him to get to the tank at the back of my house, lesseee..put the hose on the four foot stone wall, walk around, go up three steps drag to back.voila'! She said he would (or someone) would try again in two weeks. I told her nothing is going to change in 2 weeks and I'm now seriously considering dropping you. Her response was "ok, you can do that if you want ." Now I was really PO'ed. then I got dead air!. So I rang up Osterman Propane that day and switched..This week I got a delivery from Kingston 2 days before Osterman changed the tank..gee.. how were they able to get through the jungle? Got a bill yesterday from Kingston for $4.85 a gallon..Ostermann was 3.99...Just got off the phone now cancelling with Kingston..let us all hope that they can find their way through the vast swath of air to my side yard with driveway access to there tank.. read more

Had them service our home for over 5 years as a residential customer at the fireplace rate. When their pricing became excessive we cancelled as they would not budge on changing our rate class. We discontinued our service and got charged just under $100 for tank usage, and when we ran it empty we were charged $140 to have the come pick up the tank. Lesson learned. read more

If I could give this company -10 stars I would!! Stay as far away from them as you can. Luckily, I get my propane from a different company in Massachusetts and have had no problems like the ones you will get if you use Kingston propane. I'm writing this review on behalf of a family member who uses them and having seen them in action and dealt with them first hand on my families behalf, I feel the need to warn the public. Worst customer service you could ever imagine... When you try to call.. Don't expect a friendly voice or even any guidance. Prepared to be nickel and dimed from these people. There have been so many incidences where this company has shown they are beyond scummy. Most recent incident was a call to have the propane tanks refilled. Paying the 175 dollar emergency payment and specifically asking for them to call when they were planning on coming so that someone could be there. Kingston propane took the emergency payment yet locked the tank because no one was home and they did not call as promised. We all know people get busy and there is always the chance that you are not paying 100% attention to your propane level. As I said, I'm speaking on behalf of family that both work full time and have 2 babies under the age of 3. I have experience with my own propane company that will come and fill my tank regardless if I am home or not. Now imagine having a company that has full access to the tanks and payment and knows you have little babies and puts a lock on your tanks because your not there to answer the door because you are working and didn't receive a call as promised. That's what you will get from Kingston propane!! It's unfortunate that when they moved into the house the propane tanks from Kingston were already there so they stayed with that company thinking it would be the best option. This also happened in the dead of winter when the temp was below 20 and they were supposed to do a delivery and did not arrive as promised and locked the tanks when they came at a completely different time. Again, this is happening when they are aware there are little babies in the house. It's not that they are not receiving payment for their service because they are... They are just a lazy company that wants to take as much money as they can from you even if that means leaving a family with kids with no heat in the dead of winter. Trust me people, there are much better companies out there... Even if you have to have your tanks removed and new ones put in by a different company, it is worth it in the end! read more
