We passed along an antique dining room set we were using to a family member. I had an old walnut dining set I picked up at a flea market over 30 yrs ago. It has been in the basement with things piled on it for the past 20 years. The chairs needed to be reglued and one needed to be fixed as it had a metal brace on one leg. The table had pieces missing from the veneer and also had other scratches/blemishes to the finish. The talented artisans at King's Mill did the most beautiful job restoring the set to better than original condition. The finish is absolutely beautiful. It is a joy to look at. We are extremely pleased with our decision to refinish rather than buy a new set. We mostly did it because it was so much more expensive to buy a new set. But seeing the result told us going to King's Mill was the right decision. We would gladly take other pieces to them knowing they would be beautifully completed. read more

King's Mill is the best place to find high quality oriental rugs in the Fox River Valley. We have been buying from Hayden for almost 20 years and have never been treated so well. Hayden has always allowed us to take take the rugs home, so that we could see how they looked in the room they were going into. The inventory of rugs is amazing. Our most recent purchase is an Afghan runner for our back hall way. I was at King's Mill to get one of our dining room chairs repaired. When I walked upstairs the runner was right next to the stairway. I fell in love with it at once. I took a picture of it to show to Sharon, my wife. she loved it also. He walked me through the entire process, from selecting the right kind of fabric for my project, introducing me to the craftsman working on my project, delivery options...everything. King's Mill is a real family operated business, with talented old-world craftsmen. It is in a charming historic building that is easy to find. I had a large contemporary sectional sofa recovered and they did an excellent job, it looks beautiful. I was happy that we were given the extra fabric we can use for another project. Their prices are very reasonable compared to the "big companies" I had checked out. I do love that at King's Mill I met and could talk with the craftsmen. I definitely have more projects lined up to bring in after the holidays. I just can't say enough good things about this wonderful place and the people that make it great! read more

We inherited an early nineteenth century five-legged drop-leaf walnut dining table from my parents that they acquired in the 1950s. Over the years the legs had started to split; the slides were cranky; the frame wobbled; and the top bore many scars, water stains, scratches, and discolorations. Haydon and his team at KIng's Mill were enthusiastic about the innate quality of the table and set out to restore it. Their work load was heavy and their workmanship was meticulous, so it took some time to complete. But the final restoration is amazing. The table could hardly have looked as lovely in 1830 as it does today. The finish, the color, the stability are just excellent. The care, the knowledge, the experience, and the skill that King's Mill crafts people bring to their work is evident in the very high quality of the final restoration. read more

Mom LOVED the restoration and upholstery on her antique couch. "The couch had broken springs, old fabric & dingy wood. The couch with new fabric & beautiful ribbing, cleaned & glowing wood now brightens up the entire room & is most comfortable & solid.  It is now the most beautiful piece I have!" It passed to someone else, from whom I got it back, in very poor condition. King's Mill went above an beyond on repairing a damaged figure 8 clock I brought them. I was simply hoping they could repair it to be hung on a wall - as far as I knew the clock did not work but was from my grandfathers collection and after it fell off my wall, I was sad thinking I could never hang again. It truly just had sentimental value and all I was hoping for was for it to be stable enough to hang. Not only can my clock be hung but when I picked the clock up they informed me they actually got the clock working and at no additional cost. I could have cried!! I love hearing the sound of the clock hanging in my house!! I cannot recommend these guys enough, they have a love and appreciation for what they do, and it truly shines through in their work. read more

We have been happy with their work for over 30 years when we had King's Mill recover a leather rocking chair and ottoman! They also recovered and refinished a Stickley chair for us. We just recently had them refinish our kitchen table and six chairs that we didn't want to replace. They look as if we just purchased them! The wicker furniture (six chairs, loveseat, coffee table base, and dining table base) that was well loved on our porch just came back looking beautiful! Josh is a color master with paint! My antique roundback trunk traveled from Ireland in the 1800's on a ship, and made it's way to Texas, then I brought it home to Illinois. Now that I'm the keeper, I decided it was time to get it restored and bring back the details that were hidden over the years. It has so many unique details and scrolls, the restoration really brought that out. King's Mill did a wonderful job restoring the trunk - it's now truly a family heirloom.
