We booked the private tour which enabled us to bring our own food, beer and wine. They had an extra person on the bus to to serve our food and drinks as well as to help keep the energy live. They were flexible and understanding, they were open to any changes requested with the itinerary. The bus was clean and fun. We pedaled more than we expected, but it was still awesome! We loved all of the energy we got from the people on the street as we drove by. The only hiccup was that the Bluetooth sometimes disconnected from our phone which provided the music. Other than that, it was awesome and I would absolutely recommend this company and I would absolutely do this activity again. Side note, the customer service is outstanding, the gentleman I spoke with on the phone took his time to explain what to expected and make suggestions for routes. He was patient and understanding.

They were super helpful and friendly throughout the entire time. Our tour stopped at four different bars and was a little over two hours total. I definitely think it's worth it for a great time, especially if you are visiting New Haven or are unfamiliar with the area. The only thing I wish there was were seatbelts on the seats. It felt a tad not secure peddling without any seatbelt. Besides that I had a fabulous time and would definitely recommend it!

The people who work there are really generous with their time and knowledge. They have fixed so many of my old bike's random problems: repairing and replacing brakes, fixing pedals, figuring out weird chain issues, etc. Whenever a north Jersey pothole means I've had to show up there suddenly, they've always gone out of their way to help. If you are interested in starting to ride, Newark Sport Center would be a great resource, both for equipment and for advice. They are very welcoming to new cyclists. If you already ride a lot and are looking for a friendly local bike shop, this one has all kinds of nifty devices and nice essentials. Locks, bike pumps, lubricants, things of that nature. And they ordered me a really nice brake bleed kit. They are thoughtful, patient, and conscientious, and they tend to have cool stickers on hand. Also, it's always nice to see the varieties of bikes -- ancient and brand new bikes, road bikes & mountain bikes & get-around-urban-Jersey-while-carrying-a-lot-of-stuff bikes -- getting treatments here. Back to shop, fixed tire and when I asked the price, they said $25, but I mentioned the wall sign says $20 fixed rate. I give the $20 and they argue with me, and someone not involved gets involved and I feel like I'm being attacked. I leave the shop again, and the back tire, just "fixed" is completely flat by the time I got home 5 blocks. I thought the shop was going to be OK, but I cannot recommend it. Plus, I have a completely flat back tire.

I rented an aluminum road bike from Unlimited Biking, and it was a miserable experience that left…read moreme stranded with a broken bike in the middle of nowhere. The bike was poorly maintained and generally unpleasant to ride. But things got much worse then the cheap plastic pedal fell off half way through my ride. I couldn't screw it back on as the screw threads were completely stripped. I was able to get to a nearby bike shop, and they confirmed the bike couldn't be easily repaired and would need an entirely new crank arm. I called Unlimited Bikes, and they offered to bring me a new bike. According to the agent, they had a truck in the area, and it would take them about 30 minutes to get to me to deliver another bike. After 40 minutes I called back to get an update. The truck was about 45 minutes away. What blackhole time warp caused the truck to get 15 minutes farther over 40 minutes is a mystery. I waited another 30 minutes and called to check on the status. The truck was still 45 minutes away. At this point, I got frustrated. They said they could expedite a bike over, but there was traffic and it would take 30 minutes. I waited another 15 minutes and called to check in again. There was no truck available and no spare bikes. WTF. They suggested I get an UberXL and take an hour ride back into Manhattan. They refused to cover that cost. Needless to say, very unhappy that they wasted my entire afternoon and left me stranded. And get this - they refused to refund the cost of the bike rental!!! After fighting aggressively over the course of a week (and contesting the charge on my credit card), I finally got a refund. But wow. I highly recommend avoiding Unlimited Biking at all costs. It's not just about getting a bad bike, you could find yourself dangerously stranded or worse, injured on your ride.
