One of my favorite buffets. FOOD ARE ALWAYS GOOD. The only problem is sometimes the table is not properly cleaned and there's always that stickiness feeling when you touch the table. One time the worker was cleaning the floor while we eat and went sweeping the floor beside our table for 3 TIMES. I think it was weird, and it bothered us. Well, this was a gem in the town of Warrensburg. After our "Perry Foster BBQ" fiasco this was a definite victory. Food was great, selection was great, service was great. The local college kids work here, but it's not a problem, they are fine. I will go again for sure. read more

This Chinese Buffet is like no other I have been to. The variety was the biggest draw for this buffet. The sushi bar had wonderful sauces like wasabi mayonnaise and sarachi mayo. They had octopus on the sushi bar and even dim sum. On the main buffet there was unique pastry stuffed with seafood and chicken. They had coconut shrimp and wonderful red potatos. I wont list all the different variety, but you have to go and see for your self. table runners are helpful and attentive with quick responses. Finally the dessert bar was fresh and sweet. read more

I've never been impressed with the delivery or carryout meals but I sure do love a good buffet. King's Chef has tons of options (they boast 200+ per day, but I'm skeptical of that...) the "classics" such as lo mein, fried rice, dumplings, teriyaki chicken and sweet and sour chicken... along with unique offerings such as cream cheese chicken and seafood "pie". During the evenings they usually have shrimp scampi and either broccoli, spinach or satueed green beans. Most of the food is greasy (come on, it's a Chinese buffet!) but always hot and fresh. Their desserts are always good as well- cakes, cream puffs and coconut macaroons. I've heard that they bring some in from KC, but nevertheless, they're pretty good. read more

We ordered a bunch of food on a Saturday night for pick up. It was done on time, staff was friendly. That being said, unfortunately I dont think we will be back. Typical generic American Chinese food. Greasy, nothing interesting and very boring. Save yourself the diabetes and eat somewhere else. Did I mention sushi bar? Yea it's not good either. Generic, crazy amount of sauce, not sure if they use vinegar on the rice or not... if they do you won't notice, rice is always dry. Servers aren't very good and the tables are usually dirty. My favorite Chinese restaurant. The food is usually very good, though it isn't always consistent. My favorite dish, comprised of cheese and crab which is usually the rightmost item on the first buffet coming in, sometimes has an 'off' taste to it and isn't always at top quality. Other than that, I am rarely disappointed. They have a very good variety, too, and I love their sushi bar. I'm eager to try new Chinese food restaurants but tend to be highly disappointed, but that wasn't the case with Kings Chef Buffet in Warrensburg, MO! First, Warrensburg is primarily a college town and it's not a large city by no means, so I was quite surprised at the size of the buffet at Kings Chef. They feature a very large selection of meat and side dishes, as well as desserts and sushi. I live a good 40 miles from Warrensburg, so it's a drive for me to get to Kings Chef. Even so, I make this trek a minimum of 2-3 times per month. Recently I was in Overland Park, KS and stopped by the Joy Wok Buffet - which used to be my favorite go-to Chinese food buffet. The food was just "okay" and the sushi bar was only a few items compared to Kings Chef. It made me realize that Kings Chef is my favorite Chinese food buffet and no where else will do. If I need a sushi fix, Kings Chef. If I need a Chinese food fix, Kings Chef. It's well worth my 40 mile drive. read more

Well....if you like crappy wait staff, this is the place. It's not the owners by any means... it's the teenage staff the have. You get a decent sushi bar, although a average buffet. The sushi chef is really nice, though I feel bad for him. King's Chef has some of the worst customers... buffets bring out the WORST in people. But anyways, I digress. The food is alright for a 10$ buffet. Definitely go during peak lunch/dinner times- the food will most likely be fresh. Ordered for delivery- The food took a bit to get delivered due to how busy the business is so that is understandable. We ordered Seafood eggfoo young, crabragoons, Lobster in Garlic Butter, and some Honey chicken with fried rice. The Seafood Eggfoo young was absolutely delicious. It is pretty much a egg patty which can be filled with beef, pork, chicken or seafood and Veggies. I loved it best on top of a plate of white rice with the brown peanut butter sauce on top. Delicious. My partner tried the honey chicken which was delicious as well. The honey was not too sweet, and it complimented the fried rice all together. Now the Lobster and garlic butter was unexpected. We didn't know it came with so many veggies which ended up being a bonus. The lobster was actually delicious, not rubbery and well seasoned with the sauce. Crab ragoons as usual was yummy. The food reheated in the microwave a couple of hours later is just as good. read more

I'm visiting from San Diego and this place was absolutely disgusting! It was over cooked rubber and everything taste the same;like salt! Flies all over the food and dirty locals eating like piles and piles of food! Sorry you Warrensburg folks but you really don't know what real Chinese food taste like maybe that's why many of you gave this place a good review. My stomach is turning from watching the locals eat! Used to stop in when stopping in Sedalia and it WAS good. Now there are several other places in town and this place has suffered a decline. Stopped over on a recent Sunday hoping for some crab legs (which they don't have anymore) the buffet items had obviously been out for HOURS! Mac n cheese was a pan of dried up Mac hard as rock, dumplings like leather on one side, and the list goes on. We left without eating more than two bites. This is not our favorite Chinese food. We have eaten here a number of times but not been in about a year now because we always leave with a stomach ache. My oldest has thrown up twice after eating here. He very well could be allergic to something they add to their food, but that deters us. It is typical Chinese buffet with little taste. Uninspired but plentiful Chinese buffet. In addition to the usual steam-table offerings of General Tso's Chicken and Beef with Broccoli, there's often a small selection of sushi (California roll & the like.) There's also a good-sized banquet room that can be reserved for large groups. It's a favorite of the kids; they think they can cruise the dessert table several times before Mom catches on. But hey, that's what buffet is for -- feeding teenagers takes a lot of provender sometimes. read more

A pure and utter let down. Walking in, I was actually kind of impressed. Well lit, nicely decorated, large buffet, cool! But then came the disappointment. Our host was wearing flip flops and a Tshirt, and I almost didn't believe he was actually going to be waiting on us. He then proceeded to lead us past dozens of open seating (note it was just my fiancé and me) clear back to the back of the restaurant into what I'm assuming was a poor and sad excuse for a party room. There were dirty busing carts within grabbing distance of the several children located in this room, buckets of dirty silverware, and a disassembled and dirty ShopVac in view of the patrons. The food on the buffet was poor to say the least. The sushi was good though, so King's Chef Buffet gets two stars. And it was less than $20 for the two of us I guess you get what you pay for. read more

I went during dinner time so the food would be fresh but it wasn't anything special. It also seemed like a Walmart version of buffets. King's Chef Buffet, I've had better. I don't particularly like buffet style dining since there isn't much to protect the food from nastiness. Nevetheless, they do have some good selections and it generally taste good. The inside could probably use an update/ makeover, and it needs to be better ventilated. Recently ordered some delivery and it was a total disappointment. My boyfriend ordered crispy honey walnut shrimp like he always does and it wasn't even cooked all the way he had to cook it before he could eat it! We also ordered a Dragon and Phoenix which was cooked and delicious and then had cold chicken lo mein that we had to heat up for our children. We never have trouble when we go to the buffet everything is always nice and hot and delicious but we will never order take out again. read more

Not a bad place at all. They have most things you'd expect with a little emphasis on sirami [imitation crab meat] dishes. I counted four. They also had fish balls and shrimp balls, which are not on every Asian mega-buffet. Under $7 at this writing for lunch is also a supreme bargain. read more
