Their cashew chicken is made with fried chicken and cashew sauce similar to the style served in Springfield (cashew chicken), but not as good as you typically get in Springfield or SW MO. The young server at this place is the only person I have spoke to here that speaks English and he seems nice, but the few times I have been here I have witnessed him insult patrons, myself included. I used to eat here a lot, but it's been years. I'm not sure of it's even the same people from last time. I just went through the drive thru. I ordered Mongolian Beef, which is something I order frequently at different Chinese restaurants. I waited for quite a long time for my order, which isn't that unusual for this type of place. There were wasps all around the drive thru, so be careful if you're waiting. I had to keep my windows rolled up to keep the wasps out. When I got home, I was really shocked at the appearance of the food. It was really clumpy and congealed; there was barely any meat. I took a couple of bites, but really didn't like the taste at all. The rice was okay, so I picked out the few pieces of meat and ate then with the rice. I threw the rest of the icky mess away. I won't be back. read more

Even though the ambiance of the restaurant is a little shabby the the food is always tasty and you get a lot of food for what you way for. The family who runs the restaurant is charming and wait time for food is usually reasonable. Best dish there is the Sesame tofu. Another Nice thing about Hong Kong you can get tofu instead of meat for most dishes which is nice for vegetarians! Practically on campus, it's great any day of the week- but I especially enjoyed walking over there for lunch from campus on a rainy or snowy day, as they offer free soup for the dine in customers. Interesting place. With a little faith, it turned out to be pretty good. A young girl was standing at the register, who turned out to be the one who took our order. She was actually very adept at what she was doing. Sweet & Sour Chicken was basically chicken nuggets with sauce, but, it was surprisingly good. I stop by here when I pass through Warrensburg. A friend of a friend raved about their dumplings and she was right. Their dumplings are fantastic and plentifully for what you pay! Today I decided to dine in instead of rolling through the drive through. I also decided to try something new, verses my standard of fried dumplings and hot & sour soup. Today I tried the Szechuan wontons as an appetizer, and the wonton soup along with the garlic shrimp. It ended up being a massive amount of food for nominal amount of money. The value is there for sure! It makes sense, as it is right across from UCM. Being in a college town, you have to provide value as a restaurant or you won't last. Everything was really good, especially the wonton soup. The Szechuan wontons were over sauce as well as the garlic shrimp but that was my only complaint. They are a small family restaurant, so if you ask, I'm sure they will be glad to modify what you order within reason. I've been in Warrensburg for two years now, and have always passed Hong Kong Express by because from the outside, it looks like a dump. the building isn't in great condition, and the neighboring abandoned carwash doesn't help. Tonight I wanted something different, so I took a chance. I pulled in to the tiny parking lot, and there are wasp nests all over the outside. Inside, its small, and again, not well maintained. The girl at the counter was sweet and quite helpful. I ordered a large chicken cashew and crab rangoons. When I got home, I was surprised that the standard order was fried rice instead of plain. And it was delicious. some places add too much sesame oil, and it tastes like over cooked popcorn. Not this. this was a light and flavorful Plain fried rice. I then opened the cashew chicken. Cashew chicken is a pretty standard item at Chinese food places, small bites of chicken, a handful of cashews, Mushrooms, carrots, onion or leek baby, maybe broccoli, and brown sauce. THIS, was not your typical cashew. This was about a dozen golf-ball sized crispy battered chunks of white meat chicken breast. green onion, a small handful of cashews and an awesome brown sauce. It was not what I was expecting, but I was quite happy. I (a 240lb man) didn't finish my plate. I was full. However, I couldn't stop myself from eating all 6 rangoons. Crispy, nicely filled, and not oily. Easily beats the other Chinese place in town. Definitely worth a stop. next time I'll have to eat in and try the free soup, it looked tastey. read more

This is the best Chinese restaurant there is. :) They have really good chicken, and my favorite part is the all you can eat free soup you get whenever you go in! They have both Egg Drop and Sweet and Sour. It's always hot and so delicious. I usually get the beef with broccoli. The portions are huge, so one combo meal normally feeds me twice. Their Crab Rangoon is very yummy as well. The only downfall is that there is very little parking space, so you might have to walk to get there. There are no restrooms and not much parking, and usually I see people take orders home. I had the cashew chicken, which is served Springfield style with a brown gravy and green onion. Not being from Springfield, all I tasted was chicken fried steak. Traditionally, the style calls for oyster sauce, soy sauce, white pepper, cornstarch, and broth. We love Hong Kong Express! It is our favorite Chinese in town. We had lived here nearly 2 years before trying it because we figured this little hole in the wall couldn't be THAT good. Boy, were we wrong! Typical Chinese food menu. Always piping hot and quick. The dine in isn't great but we love eating in every now and then. Called in a to go order and the lady was prompt and knowledgable and told me my total instantly. She said it would be ready in 10 minutes. I hopped in the car and to my surprise when I arrived the lady on the phone was maybe 9 or 10 years old. It had been maybe 8-9 minutes and it was already ready. The girl was very impressive to me as I have young children too and they do not yet have the skills she had. The food was very good. The chicken was terrific. The chicken they use is truly only white breast meat unlike almost any other oriental restaurants offer. If you want quick and cheap Chinese food that is several steps above Panda Express give it a shot. We will be back read more

Came here during the summer and can see why it might work if you're a poor college student walking. Poor customer service, a dirty dated dining room for eating that was plagued by a few flies. The service was prompt yet after that point not a moments attention was paid to us. Definitely not worth four stars unless you're needing a hangover fix. read more
