I went to San Antonio for a wedding as was told i would be staying in a hotel. Not expecting much I was blown away when i arrived at this awesome Bed and Breakfast. I had a great room with a jetted tub, fireplace and comfy robes. I took a dip in thier pool during a warm evening, even though i don't swim. I happened to be there for a Friday night street fair they have an this place was right in the middle of all the action. Near the river, shops, awesome architecture, and if you aren't afraid of a good walk, downtown riverwalk, this is a great oasis in the middle of the city. Stay here and you will not be disappointed!

Simply fantastic. My boyfriend and I stayed in the villa room and it was gorgeous. HUGE king bed, comfy sofa, a nice tv, and loads of natural light. The staff let us both check in early and check out late and were helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Speaking of, the area is so much fun! We did not expect the nightlife we saw and were pleasantly surprised. The breakfast at the mad hatter was also nice. We are definitely going to return and spend more nights at this wonderful bnb

Best time ever, wonderful staff, beautiful warm, cozy and comfy room! Hot tub was a treat, bed was a delight and the soft plush robes a nice surprise! The hostess Abby was absolutely charming, room comes with keurig coffee maker with coffee cups and the extras, complimentary soaps, lotions and shampoo with conditioner , clean crisp quiet environment lots to do close by and has private parking, vouchers for free breakfast included for the mad hater a few yards down, will be returning in the future, will not go to hotels after this amazing bed and breakfast experience! Tip( ask for hot tub room if that's something you want) not all rooms bring one!

Loved our stay. Can't wait to come back!

We stayed in Room 3 on the first floor. The exterior of the house is plush with bushes and grass with a garden. In the backyard area, there was a housed indoor pool - an unexpected surprise. Cindy, the innkeeper was fantastic! She was extremely warm and welcoming when we first arrived. She provided maps, points of interests, and fantastic restaurants to dine at while we were spending an extended weekend here. She was also the server at breakfast in the mornings. The Jackson House is located right on the outskirts of the heart of San Antonio. Every attraction, (The Riverwalk, Alamo and Alamo Plaza, Tower of the Americas, and lots of restaurants) were all within less than a mile of walking distance. So, besides being in a prime location, The Jackson House was a vintage throwback B&B with a southern charm feel. The room had a fireplace and a giant bathtub as well. In the early afternoons chocolate chip cookies, lemonade, and iced water were provided in the lobby guest area. Breakfast was freshly prepared each morning. You started with a cup of fruit and then served eggs or pancakes, home baked muffins, crisp bacon and or potatoes. Everything was tasty and packed with a hearty punch. The dining room was actually located in the main B&B inn called The Oge House - about 2 blocks away, which you can either walk to each morning or hop in the car for a quick drive. Overall, The Jackson House provided all the pleasant charms of a southern B&B that you'd come to expect. It certainly made my San Antonio getaway a special one!

Not to mention the price is reasonable and parking is free! We stayed in room #6 and loved everything about it from the skylights, the fireplace, the antique claw foot bath, and the plush bedding, it was perfect. The breakfast was not gourmet but very tasty and definitely better than the generic complimentary breakfast you get at chain hotels! Cookies and lemonade are kept in the dining area for afternoon snack. Didn't get to enjoy the pool but it's nice that we had the option! We will definitely be back!

Walking distance to a lot of great establishments. Free (if spotty) wifi. We stayed in the Guenther Room; having our own private entrance was a welcome surprise. However, if you do happen to want the Guenther, bring ear plugs and plenty of Tylenol PM... waiting to buoyantly infringe upon your sleeping experience, in no particular order: Endless traffic, utility vehicle back up safety alerts, trains, construction, chatter from early risers on the patio having to speak up to compete with the road noise, ivories being tickled on the living room piano (hopefully by a person), silverware being clanged in preparation for breakfast in the dining area and guests laughing heartily as they eat. All of which hurts, literally, after a night at 1919 and Joe's Blues. Not all of this was Beckmann Inn's fault, of course: they can't help the noisy traffic outside, or my wife and I being in our 30's not 50's (i.e. probably not gonna quite make that 9 a.m.-sharp breakfast call... or wait, would 20 be too young for that?). Also, no one forced me to drink that last tumbler of Johnnie Walker Black the night before. But, that was my experience.

I stayed here again a few months ago and admit that the service wasn't as personal as when the innkeepers were on site. However, the inn is historic, quaint, comfortable, in a fabulous location and the full breakfasts deserve at least a 3.5 rating. I was very impressed with the flexibility of the Inn Manager. I bought several Living Social vouchers and realized I could not use them before expiration. She extended the full voucher offer until I was able to use them at my convenience. . This inn deserves my 4 rating and I am hopeful that other satisfied guests will take the time to review the Beckmann Inn so it's average rating will not be dependent on a single bad customer experience.

The grounds have lots of friendly animals to interact with. The location feels like it's in the middle of nowhere, yet you're only a few minutes away from Boerne. The bed was super comfortable, and the cabin had everything we needed. The hosts responded quickly whenever we needed anything. A few days prior to our arrival, Vicky calls and says that VRBO overbooked the "Lodge" where we had booked our reservation. Hmm, never heard of vrbo overbooking before. She offered our choice of two of the smaller cottages plus a bottle of wine as bonus. I said that we were not interested in the smaller ones and wanted the lodge that we booked because it was bigger. She then offers the Main House, which was much bigger than our original rental, and I thanked her and accepted. The day before we leave, I haven't heard anything on the address or access information. I texted them and finally received a response at 10PM. Great. Now at least we know where we are going and that we can get in. Upon arrival, you drive into the gate and up a gravel drive. Then you are left to find the cottage that is yours. We couldn't so we called and Micky told us where to find the house. It was attached to two smaller cabins (or anexed as Micky explained). Our "neighbors" were a group of 21 year old boys + their girl friends. That's fine and we greeted them and they were polite enough. They mentioned they had been "partying" on the deck of the main house for the last few days.... The main house is REALLY nice!! Beautifully decorated inside with Texas memorabilia and has everything you need for a super comfortable stay. Except grilling utensils, but not a huge deal. We made due. If it was just the house for this rental, we would have been thrilled. BUT the deck of the house is huge and there was no indication that anyone had cleaned the deck or furniture in months. Covered in dust, beer bottle tops (see above partying), and dirt. We cleaned the table off ourselves and I used the broom to make it somewhat acceptable. But even that's okay. The major turn off was from the moment we arrive, Micky learns that we are having our brother out for dinner that night. He immediately texts back that our reservation was for 2 people only. Never have I rented a place that had a per person surcharge or where the owners literally harass you about having a guest. Finally, I was like, Fine - send the invoice, I don't care what the charge is if it makes you happy and you will leave us alone. Our family has a 400 acre ranch in Fredericksburg and we know Texas ranches. If Micky and Vicky don't like to deal with people, don't have it set up as rentals. We won't be back again which is a shame because we rent in the area 4-5 times per year to be close to family. Also, fyi - We saw no indication of the "gourmet" restaurant or "cowboy" bar. As I mentioned at the open, there are good and bad reviews here. You could have either experience, I guess. Just be informed.
