If you want great service here, ask for Eliseo, not the Korean owner. Eliseo is a nice great customer service guy. The Korean man have not patience and not customer service skills. I have visited this shop and dealt directly with Eliseo. He has done great job for me several times at decent price. read more

I made the mistake of thinking the tailor away from the suit stores would be more competitive and affordable. Not so much. Much more expensive. It was a fast turnaround for my suit, but I felt rushed out of the place and I was looking to try things on and the owner gave the impression to hurry up. He was nice even but I didn't feel he was making sure everything was fine. Other tailors in the past really examine their work on suits. The alterations were $70/suit and $45/dress shirt sleeves. I appreciate the quickness, but I wouldn't comeback. read more

I have now used them twice, and could not be happier. They helped advise how things would look best and then got two tuxes tailored within an hour!! The only problem is they are not closer to San Diego. read more

King's is great. While they work with slacks, they're definitely not slackers! Brought in three pairs of pants to hem and the work was done in minutes while I waited, for a reasonable $7/per. I can't decide what was better: hearing the customer ahead of me rave about the great job they did on her clothes, or only having to try on two of the three pairs of pants before having them expertly tailored... Either way, I'll be back. Why no 5th star? Cash only. read more

Notching them down a star because they do seem to change the price every time you come in. Though it is always cheap and fast, it seems fishy to charge $8 one day and $5 the next for exactly the same thing. read more

Drove out here based on reviews thinking I'd get a better deal than the places nearby. Not really so. They charged $7 for hemming jeans (I pay $8 3 blocks away from my house) and $13 to shorten sleeves on a hoodie (simple fold and stitch). My friend got his cashmere sweater taken in, which wasn't too bad at $15 though. Where are all the places that did simple hemming for $5 just a couple of years ago? I'm still searching... read more

I was in town for a friend's wedding, and the sleeves of my new suit jacket were too long. Would have been passable, but I felt awkward in it, so I thought I'd give this place a try and I'm glad I did! I came in, they measured and chalked it, asked I wanted them to tighten the sleeves too which were too loose (which they definitely were but I didn't realize that could also be a quick fix), and told me come back in 2 hours. I went for a walk, got a haircut, came back and it was ready for a reasonable price! Tried it on, and the sleeve length and width were great. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. read more

I dislike giving bad reviews. But I dislike bad tailoring even more. Decided to go here recently to try out other tailors in the area. Asked for a simple shortening of the sleeves on a blazer. When I got it back the sleeves were too short so I asked them to fix it. Came back the next day and now the sleeves are longer than when I brought it in. And how do I know this? Because the blazer was bought second-hand, it was a little worn on the sleeves so I could tell the original length (yeah it was a little dirty). So don't go here. I think their problem is that they're too fast and don't pay close enough attention to what they're doing. When I went the first time to pick up my blazer, the workers were just sitting around playing with their phones (looking like "get it done so I can play candy crush!"). read more

Great quality and quick service! The zipper broke on my favorite warmest hoodie, so I was cold and devastated! I could not find a replacement zipper and honestly did not have the time or want to bother to change it out myself, so I figured I would just take it to a tailor in downtown. I had gone to several shops who were charging over $40 and I had to bring in my own zipper and wait over a week! Ugh! Finally I walked into King Tailor Shop where they had my hoodie ready for me the next day and provided the zipper for me at no extra cost. I paid about $20 which I think is reasonable and much better then $45! If I ever need any other zippers or alternations that I do not feel like doing myself I will definitely be coming back to King's. I highly recommend! read more

Every time you go in, they give you different prices. I wasn't really impressed by their work the first few times. The the last and final time I went, I had a very small hole patched in the back pocket of my Hugo Boss dress pants. After a couple days, I noticed a white-colored glue seeping from the patch. It looked horrible and I was unable to get it out. Not coming here again. read more

Bought a $350 tadashi dress at FIDM with seem undone. Took it here and they only charged $7. I parked directly on front of shop and they brought it to me since my baby was asleep in the car. Only took five minutes so saved on metered parking too. Fabulous. read more

Prices aren't cheaper than anywhere else, but they did a good job for me. I brought in a suit jacket to be tailored a bit in the sleeves and back. I also brought in a pair of dress slacks to be shortened and tapered. The Asian gentleman who helped me told me to return in an hour. When I did, the pants needed a little more tapering and tweaking, which they did right away. In the end, it all fit great. $70 for the two items. read more

By far the best service and quality I have experienced wit a tailor. Their prices are low and their turn around time can be same day. I would recommend to all to at least get a quote here. The staff was friendly and experienced. read more

All you need to know is this: I brought in 15 pairs of pants/jeans that needed to be hemmed; some needed to be taken out a bit in the waist; and I wasn't expecting this job to be done anytime soon. No more than a full 20 hours later, I get a most unexpected call: "Your pants are ready!" ... noooo, way. FIFTEEN PAIRS OF PANTS in LESS than a DAY? Okay, so by now you're wondering what the catch is, right? You're probably wondering what I paid for this almost dubiously high level of service, and you're probably wondering what kind of quality you can expect from what can only be called the rush job to end all rush jobs. So. Let's just go ahead and knock those out. ;) The going rate for one pair of jeans depends on what kind of hem you prefer. For $5 they'll just cut the jeans to the desired fit and re-hem them with a simple stitch, but for $15 they'll actually keep your original hem and sew it back onto the pant-leg after it's been tailored to the proper length! Personally, I always opt to keep the original hem; I mean, let's be honest -- if you're actually taking a pair of jeans into a tailor, it's probably the kind of jean that has a hem worth saving, right? So including a rather impressive patch job (he took fabric from the extra material cut from the leg and sewed it into the waist... whoa, does that beat dieting or what?), the grand total came to $230. That's pretty damned reasonable, if you ask me. So now we know that King Tailor is speedy, dubiously cheap, and they do highly skillful work. And if it were located anywhere else in LA, it would be too good to be true, but therein lies the catch: the location. This is not a very nice area of town; that said, I'm sure it's harmless 75% percent of the time, but I just happened to be in there with two of the scariest black gangsters I've ever had the pleasure of being verbally harassed by (well, this year at least). The one with all the burn scars on his face seemed particularly interested in me -- whether or not my "mama" was paying for me to tailor my jeans, etc. -- meaning, among other things, that I ended up taking a lot longer in the changing booth than I actually needed to. This offered a relatively innocuous vantage point for me to hear them shake down the head tailor for a "more generous discount" on their pinstripe pimp suits. They didn't receive one. Good for you, Mr. Kim! read more

(This review is only for hemming pants) Located on a busy street, King Tailor Shop can be easily missed if you're not looking for it. I was looking for a cheap tailor that would just chop off the extra length of my slacks and jeans without any fuss. This is the place. When you walk in there is one mirror where you and your pants will get measured and about 5-6 changing stalls that are made private only with curtains. Definitely looks like a downtown/fashion district like business space. The back end of the room had about 10-12 hispanic tailors hard at work. They looked young (early 20s?) and appeared to be working under an asian manager. The manager didn't say much to me, but the gentleman at the front desk acknowledged me when i came in, asked what I needed to get done, and escorted me to a "changing room." The place felt a bit shady because I was the only female in the place and I was a bit weary of that awkward space between the stall and the cloth curtain that doesn't completely cover everything from all angles. However, the tailor helping me was greatly respectful and only approached me from his table (which was pretty far away) when I had exited the "changing room." The tailor noticed my slacks and even inquired if I had brought the right shoes since I was wearing flats. I was surprised by his attention to detail and appreciated him taking the time to ask me. Metered street parking in this area. It is very difficult to find parking around here. I was charged $7 per pant and was very pleased with the handiwork (straight lines and the thread matched the original thread color). The measurements were perfect (much better than my previous experiences at a pricier alterations shop in mid-wilshire). King Tailor Shop appears to value quick turnaround. I was told that my 5 pants would be done in 45 mins. One glance at the hard workers behind him, I opted to come back the following week. The business does not call you when your pants are done, so it's up to you to remember to pick up your items. If you're looking for posh treatment, this isn't your place. However, this place is great for a simple pant hem compared to other tailors that charge $12 bucks per pant. Cash only. Be prepared! read more

Solid spot, I had them tailor a few of my jeans and it all came out well. The price was also fair and the job was done on time. Good place.

I went to this tailor during the summer to get dress pants hemmed. The workers were super kind, and it was cheap ($8!). Also, it was done within 15 minutes. When I needed to get a dress hemmed, they were the first place I thought of going. Since they only accept cash, I called to get an idea of how much I should bring. The man on the phone explained that he had to see the dress in order to know the price, which I totally understand. I just wanted to ask for a ballpark range in order to know how much money to have on me, which I explained. He interrupted me constantly and was very rude and demeaning. Although I was very patient and explained that I just wanted to know how much maximum I should bring, he got hysterical and ended the conversation by screaming "lady, lady" over and over again. It is unfortunate that one man could ruin this establishment. read more

Great and fast tailor in downtown LA. Doesn't talk much, hardly talks at all, but doesn't need to. Measures, pins, marks. You come back later and your jacket's done. Great prices too. Around $15 for a men's jacket. read more

Quick, professional service at a great price! we've had a bunch of suits altered by King Tailor.

I don't believe in ever writing negative reviews on yelp. If you have something bad to say, then just don't go back. However, this business left me in disbelief. An older Korean man who I suspect was the owner greeted me in front. I had a small shoulder bag that needed repair. He said he could fix it. I then asked to add extra compartments with zippers inside the bag so my smaller items don't get mingled around. He looked at me and then shooed me away to leave his business. Turned around and told me he couldn't fix my bag anymore. I can only suspect he thought it was for illicit means (which it was not) but that's not his business anyways. Annoying part is that parking sucks in the area and took me forever to find parking. read more

I am new to the DTLA tailor scene but am accustomed to getting basic and advanced alterations done. I also sew. I went to Kings to test them with 2 items and see if I could use them long term. First he looked at my items and he feigned difficulty and kept sayin "shit...damn" (like damn this gonna be expensive and hard!). He was charging me $45 to take in the armpit sides of an unlined dress and $20 to take in a waistband of a lined skirt. I said the dress wasn't worth a $45 alteration and I would pass on fixing it. I wanted the $20 skirt alteration but he said that was only his price with the 2 items combined. So I wanted to get an idea of exactly what would be done to the items for such expensive prices. I asked him to explain how the items would be altered. I do sew and if I am am going to pay his prices I wanted to make sure he was going to do it properly like a pro tailor and not take cheap shortcuts. Well I never got the chance because when I asked, he became frustrated and turned away from me to attend to the next person to be serviced, looked back at me and shooed me away with a head shake, signaling to me that our convo was over and he doesn't want my business! This guy expects to take my money without explaining his services and dismissed me for asking questions. You could maybe tolerate him if you don't know a thing about tailoring/sewing and what it's like to get good alterations at fair prices with good customer service. I'm sure basic hems are fine here because it doesn't require a person to speak English and explain any tailoring. I ended up going to a place called Eddies across the street and I ended up leaving my items there - they explained exactly what they were going to do for the money they were asking - which is why I felt better giving my business to Eddies. I have ooodddddddlllllles of alterations to do, and some more complicated, so I'm not trying to mess with someone that won't/can't even deliver basic customer service. read more

Sorry, King Tailor... :(. Two stars for being absolute sweethearts. Everything else was a disaster. Brought in a formal dress for an imminent event. It had a full long skirt that needed to be hemmed so that it wouldn't drag on the ground. I tried it on and the tailor pinned the front section up to the right length and said he could figure the rest out from there. Next day I pick up the dress + go home. Try it on. What?! The whole back of the dress is dragging on the ground by, like, 6 extra inches! I bring it back. Sorry sorry... we'll get right on it. I come back... it's not ready... I come back... and try it on in the store this time. It's totally uneven and still dragging on the ground!!! Now it's almost time for the party. I leave, they re-hem the thing, I return, it's not ready, I wait, I put it on. It's still uneven, but at least it's not ACTUALLY ON THE GROUND now, and the party was about to start. I had to cancel a bunch of stuff to make the time to go back and forth and back and forth to King Fricking Tailor Shop, and it was just a total waste of everyone's time. They sure are nice in there. Seriously. But I'm never returning. I would have asked for my money back, but I felt a little bad for the guy who had to hem my dress three times. The grand finale: I brought the same dress to my dry cleaners today and asked out of curiosity what they'd charge to hem it even shorter. King only had to do the outer layer of the dress to bring it to floor length and they quoted me 35 dollars upfront. My dry cleaner said if I wanted to take it to knee-length, they would do the dress hem AND underslip for 30. read more

The owner is a slave driver and does not care about delivering a quality product. He is all about quick turn around and if the customer notices issues, his justification for poor alteration job is, "you are too picky!!". His prices increase with every visit.
