Who reviews grocery stores? Me. I moved up to Gilpin County earlier this year and one of the things I miss about living in town is a quality grocery store with variety, fresh produce, and friendly staff. I shopped at/tried grocery stores in nearby mountain towns, and was disappointed. No checkers. Yukky produce. Low inventory. Often I would return home without the groceries I needed. THEN I found this King Soopers in Evergreen and life was good again! The staff is always super friendly and helpful. Alwayyyyyyys! I have a favorite checker, but all of them are good. The Starbucks ... awesome staff and fast. Inventory - I find groceries that I've heard about but couldn't find before. The produce department is always stocked with fresh fruits and veggies, and I always return home with what I came for. Getting here is a bit of a drive, but totally worth it. Once again I would like to say that the staff here is GREAT! I appreciate that I can shop at a quality grocery store with a welcoming vibe. read more

I've been shopping weekly at this King Soopers for the past 7 years. It is a good grocery store and I buy the bulk of my groceries here, with some items also purchased at Natural Grocers or Safeway. The store is clean (restrooms could be a bit better), well stocked and the staff is helpful. Their selection of organic food has improved over the years and they have a pretty good inventory now. I've had problems in this store before- the pharmacy but today marks the last time that I ever walk in the King Soopers in Evergreen. I went in for one specific item - a large piece of Murray's High Plains cheddar. They only had a small piece cut and in the display case so I ask if they would cut me a big piece. The clerk ask her manager who said No! Please keep in mind that they we're going to have to cut it sometime today because it's a very popular cheese. The "manager" told me to buy to pieces of the prepackaged which is much more expensive and was still not the amount I wanted. I said thanks but that is not what I wanted. Next I went to the customer service desks where I was told that I would have to wait for the store manager. To which I said, thanks but this is a bit ridiculous as I am getting no help. But I can promise you this. Never again will I support this King Soopers in Evergreen. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, actually non existent customer service. read more

I formerly would drive out of my way, to go to this store (instead of Safeway), but now wonder why... the shelves of dry goods are reasonably stocked, but if you consume any produce from here, you're insane. Shoppers just stack moldy fruit on top of the cases, and you're likely to accidentally put your fingers through a pepper upon inspection. The quality of produce at this store is far worse than the Soops in Denver on Speer, and equivalent to the Boulder food bank - at which I volunteered last year, so I know. I hope you like trash JeffCo, because that's what the major food distributors/retailers think you deserve! I've always mentioned my objections at the register, and at the clerks' request, "did you find everything okay? well no, I couldn't find cleaner or any mold-free strawberries"... never got a response, ever. I have been a loyal customer of King Soopers for a well over 20 years and used to drive out of my way to go to the Bergen Location. However this King Soopers provides the worst service that I've ever experienced. The manager is completely apathetic and many of the employees are beyond rude. I have since started shopping at Safeway, and after I got over not having particular brands that I have become accustomed to at King Soopers, I am so happy with this decision. Wow. The pharmacy here on Saturday (3/7) afternoon was unbelievable. Truly a keystone cops situation where the lady would not listen, was incredibly forgetful, and ridiculously slow. Complete incompetence at every requirement of the job. Our insurance had lapsed and we knew it. We had to tell the lady at least a half a dozen times that we were paying cash. She would not accept that for some reason - kept saying it was expensive. I do not know how many times we told her that was fine (we will be reimbursed later by cobra) but she would not accept that and kept us waiting for almost an hour while she ran in circles doing something we explicitly asked her not to do. It was incredible. I obviously do not recommend this pharmacy - particularly if you need to stop on the way home from the hospital to fill (what should have been) a quick prescription. read more

This King Soopers is quite spacious and has most of the items you will be looking for while stocking your pantry. It is clean, there is adequate parking, and they have just about everything I look for. On the negative side, their Daz Bog coffee machine has been broken for over a month and their vegetables are lacking in freshness and quantity (maybe it's a problem year for suppliers?) I like their cheese counter as it always has plenty of what I am looking for. The butcher shop is decent, but is usually not fully stocked. The seafood is "typical" King Soopers. Not near as good as Whole Foods, but workable. read more

I've shopped here almost exclusively for 12 years. The quality over the past year hS been awful. There are bare shelves everywhere (even though the shelves aren't bare at their other locations). Today I wanted to buy a bag of Romaine lettuce hearts. There were 5 or 6 bags in the cooler and all of them had an expiration date of 7/24. It's 8/10. I asked if there were any fresh bags available and was told no. The employee then went over to check the bags and instead of pulling them from the shelf, straightened them up and left them there. I've seen chicken in the cooler past the expiration date too. This has to be the new culture at the Evergreen store. It's very disappointing. read more

There's a short black haired girl that runs self checkout. Within the last few months she has denied me alcohol multiple times saying that I came in with another person. Both times I've been in completely alone, I asked for a manager to come over one of the times and he said if she saw me come in with someone else they have to id both of us. I WAS ALONE THERE WASNT ANYONE WITH ME FOR THEM TO ID! I'm of age and I have a valid current ID/Drivers license. When trying to find things in the store the shelves are bare in certain places, and finding someone to help can be a challenge. Not sure why I'd drive out of my way to go to king Soopers when I can go to Safeway and be helped out by friendly staff and find what I need. The staff is rude and seeming lazy. I have been in here several times (in the evening only, I cannot speak about the daytime ops), and it has been great. This store has better stock and a better produce and bakery dept., than the store closest to me in Denver! One thing I really dislike about some stores is feeling claustrophobic and too much packed into a small space. But that's not the case here. We have shopped at King Soopers for many years. Recently we bought Simple Truth Organic Spring Mix and Simple Truth Organic Arugula. Both boxes were labeled "Washed and Ready to Use". We'd been using the greens for several days. We went to mix both greens together for a large salad and imagine our surprise when a small LIVE frog jumped out of the box of arugula! It had been living in the box all week. So disgusting! We contacted King Soopers and, after some negotiations, they offered us $100. My all time favorite grocery store! Every time I come in I feel like I'm amongst family with the patrons and employees. Today is their very first day of their ClickList program and I was their very firsts customer. Needless to say things went perfectly, the entire staff was swift, handled my groceries with care, and sent me home with the biggest smile on my face. I'm so grateful to have found somewhere that makes this feel like home. Oh, groceries, they have it all but if it's an odd request they don't have, they will take the time to try to bring it to their location or find some way to help you get what you need. They're always smiling and chatting, like they love where they work, and that makes me love them even more. A major thanks to the managers that helped me resolve issues with the other location had created for me not one, but 3 different times! Your management is top notch. Your store is clean, always smells great, and I love the upgrades! I drive over 30 miles in the Rockies to get here, bypassing 3 different major grocery stores because I love it here so much. This review is for the PHARMACY. I am writing on behalf of myself, my wife, and my mother. Unfortunately we have all used this pharmacy. It doesn't matter when the prescription is called in. It is never ready. The staff have NO customer service skills. Thankfully they don't work at places I frequent. Management at KS should be demoted back to stocking shelves for allowing the level of incompetence and don't give a crap attitude from these employees. Typically my go-to grocery store--but have been disappointed that repeated requests to fix the almond butter machine in the bakery have fallen on deaf ears for months & months now. Was also not thrilled that they decided to do a major reorganization of their aisles RIGHT at the holidays. Can't find ANYTHING & feel like the item options have shrunk. Some managers/employees also used to stand near the checkout area at the ends of the aisles to answer questions--THIS would be a good time for them to do that! See lots of workers hamming it up on the other side of the bagging area while people could use their help finding things or opening up more lanes when lines form... This store has changed dramatically over the years. They need to quit caving to the parent company dictates and give the people in Evergreen what they want. This store used to be my primary place to grocery shop - not anymore. Safeway has improved while King Soopers has gone downhill. Examples - thick cut pork chops are apparently a special order item now as they never seem to have any, Tillamook yogurt - most good flavors have been discontinued, family size flats of cut up pork - no longer being carried (who wants to spend all of their time cutting up pork to make green pork chili - oh, that's right, they don't know what that is at the home office!). To whom it may concern: I shop at my local King Soopers. Daily, when walking thru the produce section, I see the guys pile produce that is still good, on a cart to be tossed. That is : perfect salad boxes, fruit, greens, anything. I keep asking if they could donate some of that stuff to my chickens, I have 42 hens and two geese. They love greens. Repeatedly, the produce guys say, "we can't do it".... and come up with some liability concerns for reason. I asked then, if they would sell it cheaper, as that could cover their "liability" concerns. They still say, "we can't do it". That is pathetic. We live in a time of age, when EVERY grocer ought to reflect a mentality of modern innovation which targets how to make things better for society in terms of their having excess groceries. This could include : donating produce items to local farmers such as me. Or to rescues. Most horses in rescues have never seen an apple. Yet King Soopers throws out tons of fruit that is perfectly fine for animals to eat still. (It even would be for people). There is hunger in our own communities, and much of the stuff your stores throw out is perfect for chickens - mine love salads and produce leftovers. The local Vitamin Cottage here in Evergreen donates their "chicken scraps". Which are bags of clippings of the veggies and fruit they prepare for the shelves, or greens/fruits that are not perfect. I bring those bags home and my chickens come running for it. If liability is a concern, since some people have been creative in suing with the most pathetic ways one can imagine... your store ought to find a policy that covers your bases, in form of a signed waiver to those receiving the goods, thus reducing waste and irresponsible stewardship to our Earth. The food cycle contains many stages, transport, labor, pollution, resources... we all must contribute to make the best for our ethical and environmental duties. Donating instead of wasting must be a way for America - it is not happening much yet. Economic hardships affect many individuals and rescues - King Soopers must find a way to do better with the produce and other items than throwing them away. Please consider some options. If you could get your local store here to donate the produce to my animals - at least sometimes. I am happy to bring in a signed, notarized waiver to exempt your store from any claims or liability.
