My friend used to cook delicious indian meals for me, but sadly she moved back to India. So when my friend suggested this place, i was really looking forward to eating Indian food again. When i entered the restaurant, i saw lots of empty tables with piles of dirty dishes still yet to be cleaned up. Then i proceeded to the counter where they displayed all their foods in buffet style. There were many to choose from. Also all around the walls there were lots of picture menus to browse through. I ended up choosing a chicken kebab meal. It came with 2 skewers, salad, and naan bread. The kebabs were dry, and the salad looked sad in its wilting state. The naan bread was ok. It really was not the most inspiring meal i ever had.

If you're craving something hearty, filling, quick and satisfying I would recommend King Place! The area that it's located in is sketchy, the area is run down but if you're looking for something to go I would come again and grab some rice and chicken/ beef when I'm in the area. In the pictures, my partner and I grabbed two dishes ($30 including tax- all food in the photos) (I forgot the names) but one was medium spicy chicken and beef, the beef chunks were very tender it seemed like they were flavoured and stewed for a while as the fork would easily tear apart the meat once your took a bite. The service was great, we were going to get it to go, but the place was empty and the owner there sat us down to eat and even gave us extra of the chicken we ordered and brought our food to us. Really nice people here!

I wish I can give half stars--as I write this review I am toying with 3 or 4... I was introduced to this place by an Uber driver whom I had asked to be taken to grab something quick before going home after work (after working a long long day) at midnight. He suggested King Place and adamantly insisted I ordered the Tikka Masala Chicken (hot)--I ended up ordering three items, 1 meat and two veggie on plain rice for $13.99 (pop included as well). They have a large selection of curries, meats all displayed buffet style (but it is not self serve). I ordered the Tikka Masala Chicken, Chana Masala and Alii Golbi on plain rice, ginger ale and desert, rasmalai. Rasmalai is not very commonly found so I was super happy to have been able to order it. Probably one of my favorite desserts, Ras Malai is dumplings made from cottage or riccotta cheese soaked in sweetened, thickened milk delicately flavored with cardamom. Serve it chilled and garnished with slivers of dried fruit. The food was good and portion was large--I ordered take out so you can either have it cold or heated up. I opted for cold since I was taking it home. Where the lack of a star comes in is because of the patrons that surrounds the area. Under influences I was approached twice and I was safe but it did scare me enough to not likely visit. I was told they are on UberEats so is another option.

Saw this place near our badminton place and decided to check it out. After we went in - the first impression was not good. They were a few tables where the customers ate and left and the tables were not cleaned up. We then proceeded to order. They did have a good selection of food and they were all on display - kinda like fast food style. I ordered the Kashmiri chicken. Came with two Naan and I decided to substitute rice with it. The food was so so. Was good but nothing special. For the price $11.99 probably not worth it as as there are other Indian restaurants you can go to that can provide you better food for the price.

Half butter chicken and half chicken tikka masala. Amazing!

This place has without a doubt the most authentic Indian food in Toronto. I've been to India and this place has what I've had there beat. The chicken tikka masala is amazing but it for people who don't like it hot. The butter chicken is much milder. I haven't had any of the Pakistani food but it looked just as great. This place is better for take out or delivery as the restaurant is a whole in the wall and not in the best neighbourhood. This place is on UberEATS so avoid the restaurant's area and enjoy the food at home. From what I have heard, this place is a spinoff King's Palace up on Church and Yonge. The food is similar and the layout and decor is similar.

Great place for Pakistani food. Run by Mr Butt and Co, all the food here is delicious. I had the kashmiri chicken and the haleem (lentil and ground beef) with two naan. It was $12 including a drink and salad. So good. Everything was fresh tasting. A little hole in the wall spot but service was very good and the place is well maintained.

We ordered dry chilli chicken. Clearly, they don't know what chilli chicken really is. It turned out to be completely different than what we had expected . They did not use any soy sauce , vinegar, corn flour or bell pepper. Instead, they put coriander, green chilli, all sorts of spices and a ton of oil. When we inquired we were told this is what they have been cooking for years. I don't get it. What I would like to let the chef know is that the recipe is available on the web. :) please check that out . Very disappointed!

One late night I was watching an episode of Million Dollar Critic which is a food show hosted by Giles Coren and one of the restaurants he tried was a Pakistani restaurant named King Place. He gave it a thumbs up, so I thought I would try it out. I have passed by the restaurant and never really noticed it because it's probably located in one of the worst neighbourhoods in the city but guess what, the food is authentic and pretty good. So I decided on the beef nihari ($10.99 plus tax) which is essentially slow cooked beef and one of the national dishes of Pakistan. The combo came with beef nihari, a salad, pop and two butter naan breads. The beef nihari was tender and delicious and the the sauce was rich and vibrant with all the variety of spices used ranging from cardamon, cinnamon and a few others. It was spicy but not too spicy at least for me. The freshly made butter naan bread was delicious. I also ordered a combo of beef nihari with rice ($10.99 plus tax) to go for my close friend who is Pakistani to see what he thought. He gave it the thumbs up and mentioned it was close to what he has had back home. If you are looking for good authentic Pakistani fare at a reasonable price, definitely give this place a shot. It's not in the best neighbourhood in the city and the restaurant decor is nothing to write home about but the food is pretty good and it's authentic Pakistani cuisine.

They gave us a whole garlic naan as it is uncut in the foil and that was very impressive! Really cool that they did that cuz most restaurants just cut it up and give it to you if you want it to go. Naan itself was very fresh and flavorful. They didn't really put any butter on top which was quite nice. So just a classic lovely garlic naan. Dahi Kebab appetizer - so yum! It was really flavorful on its own, and with that mint chutney it was even better! Husband loved the Malai Kofta ! Curry was properly creamy and even the koftas themselves were good. I needed it a little spicy so added a bit of spice to it and it was perfect. They also had a promotion going on for free samosas with an order of $50 or more. So they gave us four samosas on the house! So nice of them. Husband definitely enjoyed these.

The food itself was good, but I had issues with each. The biryani was flavorful, but had a bit too much salt and meet at the yoghurt sauce to balance it out. The curry that came with the fish was delicious, however, the type of fish they used had so many bones and it was impossible to figure out under the thick orange sauce if what you were putting in your mouth was all bone or fish. It made for a very unpleasant eating experience for a person use to eating fresh fish. Worth a try but won't be back

Midway through the painfully slow setup process, the entire store started filling with the scent of something glorious. Rich spices, buttery warmth... it was the kind of smell that stops conversations. Everyone working there was Indian, and they were all clearly just trying to wrap up my account so they could dig into whatever just got delivered. I had to ask--where's that food from? "Kothur," they said, almost in unison. That was the recommendation, and it stuck with me. I walked by the place once. The exterior didn't scream "hidden gem." Thought about ordering delivery a few times but never followed through. Life, you know? Today, I finally went. From the outside, still nothing to write home about. But walk in, and it's a different story. Clean, cozy, and exactly the kind of no-fuss Indian spot you'd expect to stumble upon in the heart of a big city. The food? Solid. Spices landed right. Everything was warm, comforting, and satisfying. It's not trying to reinvent Indian cuisine--it's just doing it well. If you ever find yourself sniffing the air near a phone shop and wondering what that divine smell is--it might just be Kothur. TL;DR Not flashy. Surprisingly good. Smelled it before I tasted it. It was flavorful, but there was no distinct flavor. The Bhel Puri was yummy, but they served us wayyyy too much for only a party of 2. The garlic naan was fine. Unfortunately, lots of places in Toronto who make promises of serving biryani teleport you to hell. My friends and family are lifelong fans of biryani. Of all the places Biryaniwalla is highly recommended and I have usually had it at get-togethers. This time though I decided to visit the place and order a take out personally. Located a few meters away from Bathurst station , the restaurant stands amongst other Asian eataries. Upon entering, we were greeted warmly by Ankita at the reception. We asked her for recommendations and she patiently explained us the options and advised 2 biryanis based on our spice tolerance and preferences. Taking her advice, we ordered: - Chicken Kaju Ghee Roast Bucket with double Masala for $43 ($39.99 for Biryani and Double masala pay $2.99 extra). - Palnadu Chicken Biryani ( $18.99) Ambience wise, the place is pretty chill with neatly lined tables for family and the huge Biryaniwalla Logo adorning the big wall. There was also a spin the wheel game, which you can play if you place a google review. While we waited for our order, the shop was quite busy with mobile food delivery orders. After about 10 minutes, we got our order and took it home. Chicken Kaju Ghee Roast Bucket: This is possibly their bestselling biryani. And I have to confess, I have tried it before and I absolutely love it. It is a delicious biryani , with nice moist chicken pieces, cashews and which is not too overpowering with spices. We ordered double masala because my better half likes it that way. The quantity for bucket was huge and can easily satify 3-4 people. Chicken Palnadu Biryani: Compared to Kaju Ghee Roast, this one is more tangy and a bit on the spicier side. It is a slight Achari taste and it was surprisingly delicious. Also, you get Salan (spicy-tangy gravy) and Raita (yoghurt mixture) with the biryanis, and they go quite well with the biryani. However, i somehow still felt the biryanis lack that authentic taste of biryani that you get in India and Pakistan. Real authentic biryanis have the inherent smoky flavor which comes from coal which is used to cook biryani and to give Biryani the dum ( pots are sealed and cooked over slow heat with coal - at bottom and at top.) Also missed that Birista that usually accompany Biryani layers. That being said, these are quite good biryanis. To foodies: Possibly the best biryani restaurant is toronto, that gets it as close to the authentic taste. The biryanis are delicious and they have lot of other options including seafood biryani. The quantities are huge and you and your loved ones will truly enjoy To management: Great biryanis. Great service by Ankita. Would love if you guys can sprinkle some birista ( fried onions) at the top layer or provide it on the side. Also it would be great if you can provide some incentive for customers who order directly from store. I knew you once had 10%.off , which when I asked was told it's still on but you need the offer card. I was a bit let down by that because at the end, it's just a formality. Also spin the wheel if you place a google review is a cheap tactic to get reviews. Just do it as a fun activity guys. Creates goodwill. As a brand strategist , I always recommend customer experience over a few dollars Overall this is a great place for biryanis. I definitely recommend it.
