While on tour with the Concordia University Chicago Chamber Orchestra, we needed an emergency repair of a soprano saxophone. We were thrilled when Danny at King Music agreed to help us out before our 7 pm concert time that night. Danny is super knowledgeable and professional. He completed the repair and made suggestions for further work when we get back home. Completing the work under the quote without skimping on quality, he repaired what he knew was necessary. He even made recommendations for a better case that would protect the sax better in future. Our saxophonist was thrilled with how well the instrument played! As a gigging keyboardist and church musician whenever I need cords, music books, and miscellaneous items it is great i have a local shop to go and get what I need without driving 30 moles or waiting a few days for shipping. This is a local music shop. So, there are certain things that you should expect. The prices are usually a little bit higher and stock a little bit less as well. But, most of the time it's worth it. What local stores usually have is great service and good used gear options. This store definitely goes above and beyond with service. Dan is usually the gentlemen that helps me but I've had good experiences with all of them. He's always gone out of his way to help me even with all my stupid questions. I like the options for new and used as well as the fact that they will find and order just about anything if they don't have it on the shelf. We have bought my Strat, 12 string acoustic/electric, my wife's acoustic/electric Ukulele, and a bunch of different pedals and gear. So far, we have had a great experience and will continue to go back. read more

I called them about a product I was interested in. I live 45 miles from them. (which I let them know over the phone) When I finally arrived, they did not have what they told me they had on the phone. Now I had wasted at least $15 in gas, and a good 1.5-2 hours for nothing. I bought strings just to make the trip have SOME little point. I then got home to restring my guitar, and the first string I put on immediately snapped, as I was putting it on. (i have restrung guitars at least 100 times before and this has never happened) Now I'm out another 10 bucks. The guy in charge offered to give me $5 for gas, but this was insulting, so I declined. This shop is one to avoid. read more

King music is a great family store/shop that caters to all musical needs. Whether you belong to orchestral, chamber or even garage bands they either have or can very easily get/have what you are looking for. Maybe, and I do mean at times (very few) They may be just slightly more than say a Guitar Center but the personal touch and care they give to everyone makes it more than worth it. The only place I'll ever go to anymore to meet my musical needs. Definitely a five star store. you won't or shouldn't be disappointed. read more

Great customer service. I have been going to King Music for over 20 years. they are a smaller store but if you are looking for an item that is not in stock they can get it for you and have it shipped in within days. They have very competitive prices to the big chain music stores and if you factor in gas or delivery charges it usually comes out about the same. I would rather deal face to face than over the internet... that is really true if for some reason you have to return an item or need something fixed. For me, there is nowhere else I would trust more with all my music equipment. read more

I've gotten guitar lesson for them and I've got two guitars I've bought guitar one electric and one acoustic.the owner and son are very knowledgeable on what they have instock and what they can get from there supplier. I go there because I like the fact they only have music supplies . Also if you need your instrument fixed the can do that also you can also test different guitars too read more

As an independent piano teacher, I have been doing business with King Music for as long as they have been King Music. They have always done their best to serve the customer, giving the personal touch that we don't much see anymore. When I discovered on of the CDs in a music book with CDs, that had been in my file drawer for sometime, was broken, Randy contacted the publisher to get a replacement CD. They have supported our local music teachers group by providing instruments securing the t-shirts for our multi piano concert and supporting our Kankakee Valley Piano Camp each summer. In this day and age of on-line everything, it is refreshing to have a supportive local business in the area. read more
