What a good find. We stopped here seeing the outdoor planters and pottery. I bought a planter for a very decent price and it was made in Italy. They have many- many plants, both native and otherwise, plus trees, shrubs, & flowers. Everything you need for the farm seems to be here (keep in mind I have no farm!). I enjoyed walking around here with my husband, especially the outdoor section. There's bunches of plants at what I considered reasonable pricing. I can't forget the cool parrot in the cage. I did feel sorry for him after an employee told me it was 40 yrs old. That's a long time to be in a cage; nevertheless, he seemed happy. If I wasn't just passing thru town, I would make this a regular stop if I was a local. read more

This place is vile. Now I don't mean to be a jerk but I've been going here most of my life and it has gotten worse and worse over the years. Recently I went to grab some chicken feed and saw a cup sitting on a shelf and thought it was an item that was misplaced but it had SODA IN IT. it spilled all over me and was revolting. I was on my way to Blanco and drove out of my way so I could stop here to buy a bird feeder for a friend's birthday. Despite two women sitting at cash registers, nobody greeted me or asked if I needed help. The bird feeders were hanging from the ceiling way above my reach and in sight of the clerks, still nobody asked if they could get one down for me. I looked towards the two women and they looked away to avoid eye contact (even though they were not busy, except using their own cell phones). I guess business is real good since they obviously didn't need mine. Drove to Blanco where I am not familiar with the stores and I couldn't find a bird feeder. Spent $40 at a gift shop for my friend. read more

Typically you would expect a greeting when you enter a store but if the cashiers aren't talking to another employee or gossiping with a friend they're on their phones. It's amazing how little an entire staff can know about item locations and the possible uses for each item. Maybe it's just because I go in asking for horse feed and care tips, but 4 out of 5 times they don't even offer to ask someone else. Just a terse 'I don't know.' read more

Boy do I like going to this place. They have most everything I ever need and most importantly, the staff are super nice and helpful. Have gone here for several years. Cashiers are usually just sitting there and seem to avoid customers as it might interrupt their playing on their phones. Normally I'm ok with no help etc. however rudeness I despise. Two days ago went in to get deer corn and oats seed. The young girl at the register at first not only seemed upset I asked her a question but when I said no to wanting a rodeo ticket, she mocked my answer in a snotty voice . Had to resist just saying screw it and not buying what I had ordered. My restraint amazed even my wife, when I said nothing and walked out. It will be my last visit. read more

Wimberley resident, been in this place a few times. I don't know how they continue to exist, as the staff is young and lack drive to do the job they get paid for. Don't ever call and ask a question...it'll take no less than three people to get nowhere. Apparently the locals either go elsewhere for their ranch and farm needs or have decided to just "deal" with the lack of product, knowledge, customer service and disorganization of the business. Then again, most folk in this area can afford to pay more for less just for the convenience of being beside the only grocery store in town. I was told Texas towns are "laid-back", but this place is comatose. read more

Wow, what a store! I wish I had known about this place months ago! Great selection of high quality pet food, bird feed, garden tools, and an amazing nursery in the back with herbs, flowers, bushes, etc. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but don't be fooled. I didn't even get a chance to look at the hardware section, but it looked good. Staff very helpful. read more

King feed is such a unique little store and the employees have always been so pleasant. They carry so much stuff! But, If you went looking for a specific item and they don't have it on the shelf, they will be more than happy to order it for you! You definitely won't find a store like this anywhere else! read more

They are clean, friendly, knowledgeable and close to my house. If I want to pay for gasoline to drive to town to buy the same items I can get at King Feed they end up costing more. read more

My 3-star rating is an average of three different aspects of King's business. Gardening/Nursery: 5-star! The plants are in great shape, there's a good selection, and the advice is very helpful. Not exactly a bargain place, but then you get what you pay for. Definitely recommended. Hay: 1-star or even NO stars. They often don't even have hay, and when they do have it, it's not been good quality, in my experience. Go across the street to Wimberley Feed for good hay. General merchandise: 2.5 stars. Selection is spotty at best (although it's improved over a couple of years ago), but the worst thing is that the clerks are most often high school kids who sit around at the cash register, gossiping and fooling around, and the merchandise is very disorganized. If you can find what you want on your own, and you know how much it costs, then you can just find it, pay, and get on out. I'm sorry to say that, but it's been my experience. Maybe things have changed since I was last there, which was at Christmas time (five months ago). They have definitely expanded and modernized their store in the last year or so, so if you haven't been in a while, you might want to check it out. They do have a good selection of Carhartt clothing. read more

Just sharin the love about this wondefful store and the amazing people that work here! Yes it's lengthy because this place deserves it!! :) We moved back to Texas 3 yrs. ago and gained a new furry family member while we lived in Colorado. A gentle giant Rottweiler named Slate. I found King Feed through the internet and lots of phone calls searching for a specific food for him that he wasn't allergic to. Wahlah!!! I got the honor of speaking with the most helpful awesome pet expert ever. She already had the brand of food on the shelf! She also helped me figure out that he was not only allergic to grain but also the tin in the bowls he had been eating from. Countless trips to the vet being diagnosed with mange and the whole time it was severe allergies. Wow, our Slater is one happy boy now and so are we! Since that time we have two more furry pup babies and two large winged babies that fly! They are all our kids so we can get everything we need for them right here at King Feed. Awesome food selections, toys and more toys plus even natural toys, large perches and large toys for large birds, travel bird carriers, my list goes on and on! And if I have questions or concerns and a special order for one of them she always has a wonderful answer or suggestion or will help me find the solution and order it for us. Even if we get on the internet together and figure it out she and other staff members with similar experiences take the time to help. I'm really grateful for people like this and so are our babies. It's fantastic, I can bring them in and let them meet this knowlegable fun staff and their sweet well mannered bulldog politely walking on leash from aisle to aisle. I know my pets and I will be in safe hands by people that are knowlegable and love animals as much as we do when I bring them in here. I love that I can bring our rotts and mini aussie and birds in here and be greeted by other amazing dogs, birds, cats, and their outstanding caretakers. I learn something everytime I come in whether it be for pets, plants, hardware or just to give our animals an outing to be social. Everytime I come in, I'm always greeted by the great people up front with a welcoming smile and a Hi, how are you today?. ..Wait, did I mention plants and that staff because they are super as well! And hardware rocks even when we're looking for odd ball hard to find perch making gear! Lol...You all have it or will order it. Employees smoke in the food storage area?? Not very sanitary or professional. Especially smoking by organic feed people are spending extra money on. These pollutants should not be exposed to animal food or customers. read more

I have been shopping at King Feed for several years. Recently, I went in to purchase some dog food and toys for my animal rescue. I was assisted by the most helpful staff and one person in particular who walked around with her leashed, adorable bull dog. It was so fun to shop in one of my favorite stores ever, and be followed around by such a cute and gentle pup. I received attentive care and good advice on supplies. So we found this place on a ride through the hill country, after an internet search and phone calls. My wife is a master gardener. We are pet owners. We were able to find what we needed for our yard, our pets, our home repairs. Yeah we can spend our money in a big box store and settle for employees who don't know or care to know the products they sell. But we don't settle. We walk in this store and receive warm welcomes and direct greetings. You don't get that at a big box store. We get what we need here. If they do not have it, they order it, and on a positive note. They will not only just order what we want, they will stock an extra of that item in case others want it. If you want something special, pickup the phone and call. They order it and call you when its in. One employee in particular Amanda, has been an awesome source of help, and knowledge. But all employees their stand above what you find at the big box stores. All have been great to work with. These folks don't even mind when we bring our 120lb rottweiler in to shop and visit. Just honest people selling honest products at honest prices, with a relationship that they and we value. read more
