Absolute worst service providers I've ever had the displeasure of speaking with. We ordered services from them, were told we would be able to get it hooked up and running within a day. Had the guy come out, the technician told us not only could he not get to the wires, we had to drill a hole in the house to pull the wire out because they're "not allowed in the attic of homes." There's still a wire hanging out of my house. Then, the next day, someone had to come back to do the same thing. Didn't say hi, didn't come to greet us, just said "oh there's no more wire for the services" meaning that the entire block had taken up all of their space for internet. So, we were told they would come back to add more wiring. A month went by. Nothing. I called today, and they said "oh I'm not sure what you've been told but we cancelled your order." Not only did they NOT do anything they said they would do, but NO ONE even bothered to contact us and let us know we wouldn't even be able to get internet. These people do not care about their customers and do not communicate whatsoever. I would encourage anyone who is with them to cancel because, well, they suck. Windstream started contacting me about a month ago to upgrade my service to fiber, the appointment was set and a techninian showed up on time and ran a very thin fiber line on top of the ground from a telephone pole in my neighbors front yard to my house, I was told the speed would be 500 mbps, The speed test I've been running are showing between 30-50 mbps on both the download and upload. On thursday Sept. 7 the crew shows up to bury the fiber, when they finished they failed to test and verify the service was operational, My phone service and Internet are both down and I placed a call to windstream and was connected to I believe a call center possible in India, There was a communication problem and I could only understand a small portion of the conversation, I called back friday morning and could better understand what this rep was saying, The rep from thursday evening scheduled my service for sept 12th, so Windstream knocked out my internet and home phone service and can't get back to my home to repair what they broke for 5 days, so I have no access to my home devices and have no access to many other services I need. I've been a customer for over 20 years, time for a change, very disappointed read more

We bought a new house so setup kinetic cable and Internet for the new house and had a technician scheduled to come out today. I went over to the empty new house (with my 1 year old) for the time window. After sitting on the staircase with my screaming 1 year old for 2 hours, kinetic calls and tells us they don't service our area... that seems like something that would of been helpful to tell us a week ago when we set up kinetic for our home.. so now I've wasted 2 hours that we could of been moving AND I won't be able to work for a few days because I have to wait to get another company out here. So frustrating. It would be a great practice for kinetic to start telling customers if they service their area BEFORE setting up an account and scheduling. read more

BEWARE!!! When you receive a bill from a company, CMR, representing Windstream for damages, we didn't do, that were done a year ago in the amount of $3187.21, automatic red flags!! You would think you could call Windstream to find out why. Oh no, they have the most incompetent employees I've ever had to deal with. We've had Kinetic internet by Windstream for a couple of weeks. It's slow, 10mbps, expensive, $80/month, but the worst part is the customer service. It was 2 weeks of working internet before the guy came to bury the line. When he did that it disconnected the DSL line. It will be 11 days before they can fix it, after 2 hours on the phone trying to get help. I knew they had the worst reputation but we don't have much choice where we live. read more

A month ago a contractor damaged the phone line to my house while installing a neighbors fence. It was an accident and I understand that, but my phone is still not working and I can't even get an estimate of when it will be fixed. I have called several time and technicians get sent out promptly to find that they can't fix the problem. The group in Windstream that is supposed to fix it, seems to be a black hole. Service reps have sent requests to them for information, but no one has ever gotten back to me. I am about to drop them and find another provider for that number. read more

not a customer but the damage our fence after cutting down tree limbs in our alley. they let them fall directly on our fence. when saying something to them they said call it in and didn't care. made several calls and nothing has been done. what a horrible company to let your employees cause damage and then not make it right. The service sucks, out 90% of the time and two weeks to get a technician to come for the umpteenth time to try to fix it. The local electric coop is installing internet and phone service and if others find their service to actually work, which Windstream's doesn't, then I'm switching. If you have a choice don't chose Windstream for sure. Their unreliable service makes my security cameras totally useless, computers don't work, nor anything else requiring wifi or internet service, including the telephones. read more

Just moved to the area had a appointment set for tech to come in a week ...called off work for the day ....3 days later get an email ....account on hold ...I call and they verify it's an apartment building with 4 apartments even tho their system states the building already has service... They confirm everything's good ...service is still set as scheduled ....the day the tech suppose to come out..... they send me a text message .... stating another issue and my service will be postponed until 5 days later. I have 3 kids 2 weeks without internet for Hulu ...netflix..Disney ....is hell.... So I called them... They still had my account on hold even tho I called and they assured me everything was fix.... And there is nothing I or anyone can do...I'm Just out of 2 days of work .....because they messed up..... and they can't get me in any sooner ... honestly feel I should of stuck with Blueridge. read more

My grandmother is 92 years old and we have been trying to get her landline installed since December 6, 2022 and today is December 21, 2022. Their customer service is just as bad. I have been put on hold, hung up on, and promise repair dates that never happened. The issue is still unresolved. Now I'm trying to find another company in her area. I would give this ISP zero stars if I could. This one company is the only provider at my home and has plagued my community since I was a teenager. Before I moved to my current home, I had Comcast internet, which provided me 10 times the speed (with constant reliability) for less cost. This is seven miles from where I've moved now. Kinetic has currently promised 25 Mbps for my money, but I'm actually getting 5-7 Mbps and less during peak times. After a year of struggling with slow internet, the internet has gone out. My spouse has worked diligently with the chatbot this company provides to no avail. It's honestly like a sick joke to sit through a helpless chatbot telling me to reset my modem again just to pray we recover our horrific service. When a human seemingly responded with the proposition that they send a tech to help us, the first opportunity for this to happen is more than a week away. Guess I just won't work from home, watch the PPV event this weekend (I'd invited guests to watch), or use any of the devices and programs that require internet. This is the absolute worst company, our internet goes out constantly, it went out yesterday so we called customer service absolutely no help, left my husband on hold for forever and then finally after he asks what's going on they come on the line and say they can't figure it out and will send a technician in 5 days.. so 5 more days without internet, refuse to credit our account until they make sure "it's not our fault" the internet is down, mind you we just had a tech out a couple weeks ago due to how terrible the service has been and he "fixed" it now we have none and they won't come check it, I wish we had more options because this company is absolutely horrible do not recommend because they literally do not care about their customers read more

Worst internet service you will ever in your lifetime waste your money on. When i get service most of the time its about 3.5mbps. Buffering all the time. Had this junk service since February. 3 different modems and when the service goes out will be at least 1 week before someone will come out. I say one thing that always works is the bill comes on time. I'm supposed to get high speed which i am billed for 10 mbps minimum. Junk service junk company. We placed an order for internet service to our home in January. Date was set for February 20. We said ok a month. Well on February 17th it was delayed till March 5th. On March 4th it was delayed till march 23. On March 20th delayed to April 8th On April 7th it is delayed to April 24th Incompetence is overwhelming. read more

Service is the worst and the internet is intermittent at best. I cancelled service 2 weeks ago - because i got tired of dealing with the outages. Then i was contacted by thier retention department and they offered me a rate of $10 per month (I was paying $84), i told them i wanted to think about it. Well i called back tuesday and sat on hold for 39 mintues so i hung up and called back today (was on hold for 20 minutes). Told them I was going to take them up on the deal they offered me - after putting me on hold 3 or 4 times because the rep says it didnt show the had internet in that area. Then after another 20 minutes she got back on phone and apologized saying they dont offer internet service in that area anymore. **This was after she said she could not credit me for all the time in the last 3 months that my internet was not working*** But yet they do not offer internet in that area anymore???? So let me get this right - i was paying for a service ($84 a month) that they knew did not work properly. What a rip off. read more

Had them for a few years untill September/Ocotober of last year. I decided to go with XFINITY for a better pkg. I had land phone service with Winstream. When I called to cancell my service with them THAT'S when the problem started. Importing the phone number over to Xfinity became such a storm that up to LAST WEEK they still had NOT COMPLETED THAT PROCESS !!!! After many calls it FINALY got done BUT I decided to have Xfinity give me a NEW HOME number and I called it a day. A refund was due me for over payment for the time that I did not have the sevice with them anymore and for which they charged me. I'M STILL WAITING FOR $96.00. They started laying down the fiber optic cables about 2 months ago in my sub division and what a mess that started. When they got on my block they somehow CUT some lines and some of us lost internet, and land phone connections as well. Xfinity has been to my home 3 times in 12 days and as recently as yesterday over the issue of NO internet or phone service because of this fiber optic thing. That I know of, we were NEVER notifide that this work was going to be done. They tore up grass, top soil on private property and blocked STOP SIGNS and driveways so you could barely get in. This service is the weakest of the half-dozen I've sampled over the course of 21 1/2 years. I call it "weak" because one must call about flagging Wifi signals and slow upload and download speeds at least once a week; sometimes more often. When one calls, personnel on the other end of the line are courteous enough, but they are to a man completely powerless to improve the service, which costs the same as Comcast but is apparently one-tenth as powerful. I am not a monopolist and disagree with Comcast's editorial policies most of the time, anyway, as would you unless you belonged to a handful of suffering Philadelphia minorities peculiar to the southeastern-most part of Pennsylvania. I'd urge anyone considering signing up for Kinetic to look to Blue Ridge or ATT--Comcast only if you must--until Kinetic by Windstream really gets moving and its act together. read more

If there were a negative 5 stars I would rate Windstream as that! Their customer service is terrible. They refuse to provide a receipt of payment, which my company requires for all of my business transactions. When I saw the payment online it did not match the bill amount. When I called they told me there was a $6.95 processing fee-would have been nice if the person who took the payment on the phone would have told me that. They keep telling me that I can see the payment on the online account, but I made the payment for a client and do not have access to the online account. read more

It would take too much space to write everything that I experienced when switching to the Kinetic fiber service so I will be leaving a lot out. After calling and discussing, I decided not to get the upgrade. They sent the tech anyway! This was on Thurs. before Labor Day weekend. As long as he was there, I went ahead and let him install it. Later, when I discovered I had no service for my laptop (cell and streaming tv were fine), I called. After only about 10 mins. and no questions or suggestions, Carlos told me it was my computer's fault. Called again and after being put on hold for 30 mins., Donald disconnected me. Eventually I received a "ticket" but was told they were swamped and couldn't come for 2 weeks!! After only taking one week to arrive to put it in and now you screw it up and tell me 2 weeks?! You are going to put more installations ahead of repairs? Or are they all repairs? After threatening to cancel, the tech did show up on Tues., the day after Labor Day and decided it was the modem's fault and put in a new one. A big, black ugly thing (7" long and 9 l/2" high) compared to my little, unobtrusive original. Worst part of all, it is absolutely NO faster and I totally regret the change and don't know how much longer I will stay with them. read more

I was approved to ACP service Nov 12, but every month since that time your tellers saying I am asking to early and finally, today, one of your zero-knowledge person from billing department said you don't support ACP. 4. Worst customer service ever. And they know that they are the only option in some areas so they dont care. Long long story short 3 weeks waiting for installation. 3 order tickets , 17 representatives , 2 supervisors , 12 transfers to wrong departments. Still no service. WHY Ticket 1 We completed and closed the ticked. service installed. Nope Ticket 2 We cancelled the ticket bc there was already service at the address. They used the neighbors address from referral program from ticket 1. 2 names and 2 numbers that didnt match the neighbors. No call. NO knock on door. Just cancelled order. Ticket 3 Oopps the girl that made the ticket made the wrong type. it has an i and should have a T .. Supervisor 1 Ill escalate the ticket and call you back with update. No call back , just text with a apt with THE WRONG ADDRESS. So i call to correct AGAIn and no one will talk to me bc im not listed on the account ..what .. I talked to a supervisor yesterday . its already unbelievable that we have to call at least every 2 weeks to have our modem reset, especially after the two years we have had with our service being out up to 38 times in a few months. And I thought it took the cake when a tech to unplugged our equipment at the main box to hook up a new customer, leaving us with no Internet for 8 days. But i must admit the last call I made to customer service really had me wondering about this company. I thought the rep was maybe outside on a farm with a tractor approaching, but nope! It was her falling asleep and snoring! I woke her the 3rd time before I realized she was just falying asleep on the line instead of trying to reset my modem. I couldn't report her because she never even entered any information during the 40 minute call she was napping on. This is unreal. And it is unfair we have no other options for our service. "It takes months to find a customer and only seconds to lose one!" It's been two weeks and I still do not have internet and phone service. Current customer of Kinetic internet service. Windstream Internet service is good until it isn't. I have been a customer of Windstream for almost 30 years, and was able to work from home during COVID while my kids were streaming. It is our only internet option in the rural area of western PA that we live in. When a storm knocks out your internet and phone service it is near impossible to get a real person on the phone to report the issue. You have to simultaneously stay on hold for 30 minutes plus, while trying to find a tech support rep to chat with online. If you are disconnected, it is another 30 minutes+ to try and reconnect and start the process all over again. The customer service is impossible to reach and near non-existent. After many hours on hold and another week later, still no service going on 2 weeks and unable to work remotely. The automated systems do not work correctly and links are "no longer active" as soon as you receive the text messages. If I had any other option, I would no longer be a customer. I would never recommend to a friend or family member. If your job is dependent on solid internet service for remote work, I would recommend that you look at other internet options that are available. If I could give zero stars and still leave a review I would. They are not worthy of the single star rating. Windstream is the absolute WORST!! We had our bill changed to paperless and they had entered our city incorrectly, so the bill was late getting to us. Our service was disconnected before the bill ever arrived! When we realized that they had the city wrong, we called them to correct this and have service restored. They took two weeks to restore service and still DID NOT correct the address. It has taken 3 months to get the address corrected and every time we call we get someone that we cannot understand. When we ask to have a supervisor call us back no one ever does. We currently have internet as well as phone service with them. Our internet works SOME of the time and our phone does not work AT ALL. UNHAPPY CUSTOMER - LOOKING FOR NEW SERVICE PROVIDER AFTER 28 YEARS AS A CUSTOMER. It is no wonder that they have bankrupt themselves. If they actually provided a service worth paying for, if they actually had customer service that at least pretended to care; then MAYBE they would not lose the few customers they have, MAYBE they would not feel the need to WARN other customers about the poor service they provide.
