The service was spotty at first. After many calls and service calls, they got it straightened out. I cancelled on 5/5 2026. They have continued to bill me. I called 2 weeks about this and was told to wait for the final bill. Today I was billed again! Plus 15 dollars. My internet kept going off Saturday and Sunday Disconnected power like they told me and it kept happening they did an automated diagnostic check and said a tech would be there between 9-10 on Monday I got a text and tech also called he was very nice but told me he couldn't fix the issue and said they would send someone Tuesday never got a text this morning so I called and was told they would be here between 9:45-10:45 never showed never texted Finally i called in the afternoon and was told they would have it fixed by Monday today is Tuesday the same thing happened before and I went without internet for 6 days This is unacceptable their customer service is useless if you ask to speak to supervisor they say no supervisor is available I've requested for them to call me and never received a call I would never recommend this company to anyone read more

He spent a lot of time on my property, making sure everything was right.Also, redoing some past work that had been done incorrectly.He did not leave until the job was done right , always polite and professional.. He's the best part of kinetic by windstream , otherwise , the company kind of lame.. But if I know that Derek is on the job, things will be done right in a timely manner.Even after the ticket had long been closed out, he came back and finished the job with the right parts just as he said he would- and he did not leave until everything was done. Worse internet service ever. The day before yesterday they began holding my WIfI captive to say I need a new update. Called yesterday to get my WiFi unlocked but said I would have to call back to make an appointment for the update. Today WiFi was captive again called them, was on hold for an hour. Finally got in touch with a human she unlocked the internet again then put me back on hold for another 10 minute. Only for her to tell me my address did qualify for the fiber update. Told her I didn't care I just wanted them to stop locking up my WiFi. She told me I would have to call back tomorrow and update my information. How is any of this legal? read more

Wish I could rate zero stars! My experience with Windstream was great until it came time to disconnect (due to move.) They charged just to disconnect the service. They have to send labels so that the equipment can be returned and two weeks later I have no labels. So I fully expect to be charged for not returning the equipment on time even though I have contacted them 3 times to ask why I have not received the labels. Why can't they email the labels like everyone else does??? Probably so they can hit you up for more $$$$. In the event you have no choice besides Windstream, then DON'T USE AUTOPAY!!!! My bill went up last year and I was told that is was because of copper lines. Once we got fiber optic the bill would be lowered. Well, we got the fiber optic and called as the bill was the same. I was told by the representative that it would be lowered, as was told previously. It went down for 1 month! Now my bill is back up to over $100.00. I called them today and the lady told me some crazy story and that I was lied to. I so fed with this company and even my neighbors have refused to even get the fiber optic. Eventually Cox Cable will be out this way as it is growing and people want reliable service. I have had Cox and they were great. Kinetic is a very poor company. Don't try kinetic internet the Tech couldn't get my computer or my tvs Connect to Wi-Fi talked with tech support ten days ago for hours. Canceled two days later and a week(today) later I walk outside and my yard is dug up and they DRILLED into my siding on my house. Worst experience ever. Thought I'd give Kinetic a try - big mistake! Not only did they fail to install service, they drove clean across my lawn with a commercial truck leaving a pair of deep ruts across the lawn. I don't mean they wandered off the driveway - they drove right across the soft, springtime lawn. After a month of calling customer service and repeatedly being told someone would contact me and then being ghosted, someone finally came out. They threw a few grass seeds and a bit of straw into the now rock hard ruts. No attempt at all to repair anything. The ruts remain and I need to hire a landscaper myself to repair them. So in the end: no internet service, lots of wasted time, a damaged lawn, and the expense of repairing it myself. I should have listened to the other bad reviews. Horrible customer service. Our internet has been consistently dropping to the point where we cant even watch tv for hours a day. Prices keep going up and there Internet only gets worse. Every time they come they put off the issue and say its the router. We are on our 7th new router and have requested another guy to come out tomorrow. The customer service line is somewhat ok, with rarely any wait time, but the customer service people are horrible. They never understand the problem. Do NOT put your money into this pathetic business. As a customer, I recommend you take your business elsewhere. Windstream installed fiber optics to my mom's house this week and tore the electrical line going to her pump. She is 73 years old and is now not able to use her pump and has no access to water. They told her she had to wait until Monday before they would send anyone out because they don't work on weekends. read more

I ordered and am paying for the fastest business internet service with phone lines, phone rentals, and e fax. The speed is never close to the 1 Gig ordered. The phone service seems to be OK though dialing or is ancient technology. The reason this is a poor value or decision is that the customer service is not there. The project managers are a joke. Kinetic came and tore up all of our yards last summer to lay their cables. They left very large holes in some of the yards in my neighborhood. Multiple people have called & asked for them to come fill the holes, stating it was a hazard. My mom, who lives in the same neighborhood, has flagged down workers and asked them to fill in the hole, yet a year later, they still haven't resolved the issue or filled the holes. My kids were walking on the sidewalk and my 11 year old fell into one of the holes up to her KNEE!!! She scraped up both of her legs and skinned both of her hands and one of her elbows. The next day, I called Kinetic at 9:10 am, but the person who answered the phone spoke very broken English & told me I would have to call back in an hour when a supervisor or manager would be there. I called back at 12:41 pm and spoke with another person who did not speak good English who told me that there were no managers but that he would see if he could get a supervisor on the line. After putting me on hold twice to attempt to get a supervisor on the line he told me that he couldn't get a supervisor so all he could do is send out a technician. I reported that the holes were a few houses down from mine but he took down my address anyways. He told me that the earliest anyone could come out would be July 9th (8 days from today). He asked if I would be home to direct the technicians. I told him that I worked full time and would not be home. He said they would still send someone out but that if they couldn't find the holes they wouldn't be able to do anything about it. Not once did anyone ask if my daughter was ok. Not once did anyone apologize that their company had left these large holes and that it caused an injury. I guess we will see if they actually fill them in on July 9th or not, but based on these interactions, I can say the customer experience is horrible. I have had multiple representatives come to my house trying to sell me Kinetic service. Each time, I have told them that I'm not interested but that I would appreciate if they could get someone out to fill the holes in our neighborhood. The only response I got was that they don't have anything to do with that aspect of the business, but if I decide I'm interested in their service they will leave their card so I can call at a later date. They do not care about anything other than making sales for their service. read more

I was looking for a cheaper fiber internet option and after their sales team stopped by a couple of times I decided to give them a try. I scheduled an install on a Friday between 1-3, they never showed up. I understand things happen but what was inexcusable was that they never called or communicated in any way that they would need to reschedule. I didn't hear from them on the following Monday either. So on Tuesday I called to cancel the install. During the call they stated, "they had to bury a line" so they were unable to do the install. Still, I told them I wanted to cancel. They didn't even try to keep me as a customer. When I got them to cancel it the employee ended the call with, "thank you for choosing Kinetic". I think that speaks volumes to their level of care. read more

Hired stupid contractors to install their cables in my neighborhood. Cut my Cox ISP line twice within three months and act like nothing happened. Follow-up: My ISP (Cox) showed up at 8:30am, had my line repaired within one hour. Sorry Kinetic, nothing to talk about with you or your contractors. The internet service itself is great - very reliable, and the guy who did my installation was awesome. The company itself is scummy. Customer service will talk you in circles for hours. They straight-up lie about their prices to new customers. They repeatedly try to put an equipment rental fee on my bill even though I supplied my own router. They'll also raise your bill every year with no justification. And forget about the "prepaid Mastercard reward." I never got mine despite calling about it numerous times. If I had any other option, I'd go with another company just to avoid giving Kinetic another dollar. read more

We are paying $74.00 at best 44/12 Mbps with no traffic, whether wired or wireless, to the modem. Increasing traffic reduces speeds to 24/9 Mbps. This is way too much money for that speed, considering their own fiber-optic plan is cheaper and faster. The copper wire in our area is likely deteriorating due to the lack of speed. For two years, Winstream has told us that fiber optics will be available in our area soon. This has turned out to be a bald-faced lie. Their customer service has told us there is nothing we can do, and a couple of times refused to send a tech out. I have had an IP conflict for quite some time and have to use a VPN to play my game. I was told that it is a bandwidth issue. Obviously, that's not true because being on a VPN has nothing to do with bandwidth, just masks my IP. The other issue is the bandwidth. Technical support's solution is to disconnect devices while using other devices, and it won't lag. That is not a viable solution because the devices we use and have are quite normal for any household. The tech support has no clue what they are doing. Our speed is becoming obsolete. The only fix to our problem is a speed increase due to applications requiring more bandwidth now. All together, Winstream has been extremely unhelpful. Also, I feel we are being price-gouged because of the lack of ISPs in rural areas. $74.00 is highway robbery for that speed. I have already filed a complaint with the BBB. Next, I will be filing a complaint with the FCC. Also, I will be consulting with an attorney for Winstream not living up to their obligation as far as speed, providing adequate customer service, and reliability. Edit: I did contact them, only for them to continue to blame us for the problem in their response. Their go-to was that there are too many devices on our network. They must think I'm stupid and don't know what's really going on. We have had the same number of devices on this network since 2020, and never had any problems until a decline started happening a year ago. No apology at all. No, we will do our best to fix this. The truth is that the speed is lacking for modern applications. Also, the copper wire is obsolete and needs to be changed to fiber-optics. So if you are in a rural area on copper and the service is going bad, make sure to contact the FCC. Winstream, either maintain your copper more proactively or get it switched out ASAP. read more

The dumbest techs on the planet. A year ago a storm came through and I lost internet and power. Power was restored prompt but internet, not so fast. Called and dumb and dumber disguised as techs came out. Tech in this instance is a very loose term. Anyway, was told that a construction crew had to come out to repair the line and it would be in five days. 8 days later I called back. I was told almost laughingly that, "We don't have a construction crew." Then another tech came out. We both walked to the break on the same pole where the power was restored. We both not only saw the break in the line but we also saw enough slack to not only to reconnect the line but plenty left over. So he left and dumb and dumber came back out. These baffoons, I'm sorry for desecrating buffoon but that's the best way to describe these morons and still be compliant with the FCC and online protocols. They were so inept that they could not figure out the colors on the wires, so they literally ran a new line 350 feet LEAVING THE OLD LINE IN MY NEIGHBORS YARD. We had winsream for 8 years and switched to T moble. Trying trying to cancel was imposible. They put us thru 8 people, and after 1 hour finally thought we were sucsessfull. Windstream recently changed how they take incoming calls for service. The way I understand it is your call will be answered by someone within your geographic region. Personally, this change has been very noticable and exceptional. I live in Georgia and my CS rep was Crystal. Because of this new change I will continue to do business with Windstream and I recommend you do the same. read more

The absolute worst internet service!! Your internet will go out randomly and they will not schedule a technician to fix it until two weeks later. The customer service representatives are famous for lying by telling customers they will get a credit due to the internet not working for numerous days. Recently I had a bad experience with a representative. We all experience this occasionally, and people are only human. However, the price I was paying for service compared to a company offering me new service was so large that I questioned how much I was paying. The representative was dismissive cold devoid of any emotion as if she was actually on some sort of sedative. Kinetic did step in and took care of me right away with the service I was expecting from the beginning. My line was cut by state roadside lawnmowers, so obviously that I could see where it was cut. When you try to get technician support to fix it they say it is an area wide issue. When you complain loud enough and ask for a supervisor they will schedule a technician to come out. Unfortunately they will then cancel the appointment through text the day of or day before after you make arraignments to be there because they threaten fines if you are not there. The reason they say is that a technician can not come out until area wide issue is fixed. This is This happened 4 times before I finally got a technician to come 2 months later. Then you have to try to get refund but they don't want to give you refund because they don't have records of your internet being out because the ticket got cancelled. I am now dealing with the same process because lightning caused the box to literally explode while I was looking at it. I am one canceled appointment in and being told a technician can not be sent out because it is an area wide issue. I received a letter signed by their President Jeff Small, telling me that they were running fiber in my area and to scan the QR code at the bottom to find out more and be updated as to progress. Kintetic has a LOUSY reputation in the industry, but I thought I would give it a try. I was taken to a form that asked for my name, the reason for my request, all the usual stuff. I was then connected to an "Indira G" who then asked me for all of the same information again only to tell me that she couldn't answer any of my questions and I would have to call customer support at 800-347-1991. I was already having a bad experience, but I thought I would give them their chance. My call was answered (after a LOT of noise of someone getting an ear-bud in) from a Heather who couldn't have sounded less entheused by my call. She asked for my address, had a TERRIBLE time in understanding how to spell "Cattle" in the name of my street, then "put me on a brief hold" that was all of 15 minutes of dead-silence. By now I just wanted to see how the whole thing would turn out. Heather popped back on (with the SAME amount of noise in getting her ear-bud back into her ear) and told me (again) that she was putting me on a brief hold. I was then transferred into a hold queue (with music this time) when my call was answered by someone who was DEFINITELY "South of the border". She couldn't understand why I would be talking to her if I didn't have an account. I explained (again) about the letter in my hand, asking if she knew whom I could speak to about when they would be expanding into my area and what it would likely cost me poer month. She curtly told me that there was no one that could answer those questions. I was already 30 minutes in to a waste of my time, so I thanked her and hung up. THIS is my experience BEFORE I become a Customer??? What on God's green earth could POSSIBLY compel me to BECOME a Customer? Sadly, this is PRECISELY what I expected my experience to be like, but hope springs eternal. I don't care if Kinetic provides lightning-fast psionic internet linksfor myself and the dogs, there is NO way that I will *EVER IN MY LIFE* sign up as a Customer with these losers. The offer is $40 for their fiber, kinetic, or $120 for their best broadband which is 24mbps (hasn't changed since I was there in college 10yrs ago minus the price going way up). So theyre charging triple the price for a vastly outdated and inferior product. Won't negotiate at all to lower the bill, despite not offering kinetic on my road in dahlonega.
