The service is as horrible as regular windstream internet works half the time at best and customer service is horrible , need a repair you wait weeks then you have to fight for a credit to your account for all the days of no service. It's a monopoly in many areas. read more

I subscribed on Sunday and scheduled installation on Tuesday. No call no show. I called them and waited on hold for 30 minutes. Nope!

I have been paying for 40-60 mbps (their fastest internet.) For the last 9 days, my speeds have been 4-9 mbps. Not useable. I work from home. Nothing has been done after THREE HOURS on the phone. Multiple phone calls and online messaging did nothing. I was told I'd have to wait another week for someone to come to my house and trouble shoot. Again, I work from home. Also, get this. If I can't physically be there for the agent, I get charged a 50 dollar fee. I asked for my bill to be adjusted this month since I'm paying for a high quality connection and was told that no adjustment would be made. So I've been sold product A, and have recieved product B. How is this even legal. I type this using my phone's 4g connection and it's much faster. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE IS TECHNICALLY ILLEGAL. IT'S CALLED BAIT AND SWITCH. I've had Kinetic for two years. I've literally never run the speed test and found that I'm getting what I'm paying for. Never once. Yet here I am, paying the full price. They have a monopoly in my area and are obviously not motivated to keep up with their customers needs. read more

Horrible company! We experienced a storm that brought down some power lines. Our electric company had our electric back on in three days. We are at day 12 and still waiting for Windstream to restore our internet and phone. Customer Service has no clue what's going on. Requested to speak to a supervisor and waited 42 minutes and finally hung up. This company sucks all the way around. read more

Windstream sucks. I know this because I have it. They know they are so bad that they are changing their name to Kinetic as if that will help. I pay $96 per month for 20 mb/s speed. Oh, thats the speed when it is working. If you are able to I would go with any other service. read more

The customer service is horrific. I've had issues with my bill from day one. I can't understand most anyone I talk with. I've asked to speak with supervisors. They say someone will call me back and they don't. So I call back. I supposedly talk to a supervisor today. Who actually yelled at me and hung up on me. This is a ridiculously rude. Insulting and extremely unprofessional company. And I would love to get out of my contract. read more

The worst customer service a company could have. Internet has been out for days and I was told by customer service the earliest a tech could come out is a week out during work hours. I never agreed to an appointment yet I received a text with an appointment I didn't agree to. When trying to respond to the text it only offered dates far out for an appointment. Horrible customer service. I was told that I would have 25-31mbps, which I thought would be great since I only needed 4 to have my security cameras set up. The technician came out on Wednesday 06/21 and set up the internet. Apparently he didn't check anything before leaving because l was able to get the internet on my Mac and IPhone after he left, but when the technician came out from the security company the next morning, and checked the speed, he told me l was getting 1.6 mbps. I called Kinetic while the technician was still at the house, and a representative by the name of Liv insisted that her screen was telling her that I would get 25 mps for downloads and 31 for uploads. I told her this was not the case. She said she would transfer me to the repair department. A representative by the name of Gavin said he would do some troubleshooting. After approximately 45 minutes he said there was something wrong with my wires. He said he would send a technician out, but the soonest he could have one out was the 28th, but he would put in an escalation stating that I needed it done ASAP. After hanging up with Gavin from Kinetic, I was told by the security technician that his company phone was not getting internet. He tried his person phone with the same results. Everyone in the home tried but the internet service was completely out. I callEd in with an issue about speed, and ended up with no service. I called back and spoke to a representative who told me there was a ticket in for the problem, but the time had been moved up from the 28th to the 24th. This was ok for the speed issue, but I let her know that they were leaving me without any internet, and that was not the problem for the original call. They actually made things worse. She said she didn't know what Gavin had done, but she would transfer me to someone who could help me. After waiting on hold for well over another hour, I finally hung up. I called back and explained the situation to the next representative and after telling me there was nothing she could do, I asked to be transferred to a supervisor whom I could make a complaint She in turn transferred me to another representative named Brandon. Brandon informed me that there were not any notes from my call speaking to Gavin, nor Julie (the representative that I spoke to after Gavin). To make matters worse the ticket for my original prob had been closed, and the soonest they can get someone out now is the 30th. He said he didn't know why Gavin said they could escalate the case to get someone out to my home ASAP. I explained that I am a veteran, and need the internet for video appointments with the VA. After speaking to approximately 7 different people, getting a lot of I'm sorry's, and literally the entire day on the phone with Kinetic By Windstream, I am left with no internet and the inability to keep 3 appointments with the Veterans Administration. I had this service for only one day and I am experiencing more problems than a person should experience throughout Their entire service contract. Kinet is the only internet service offered in my neighborhood, but if I was able to get a different service, I would. One star is the lowest rating I am able to give on Yelp, but if I were able to go lower into the negative amount of stars I definitely would. If you are able to avoid Kinetic by Windstream, definitely do so. You will be saving yourself a lot of headaches and anxiety. read more

My review relates to my experience with Windstream's customer service. I called to understand plans and order service. i was so turned off by the fast-talking rep that seemed to be in a big hurry. No idea how good the actual product is, but at list this customer service rep "needs improvement". Thumbs down. read more

Terrible service. You can go online to your account to see your payment history, but you can't tell what you are paying for, you can't change you plan, the online support is worthless because they can't really tell you anything or do anything for you. My dad has been trying to get his phone service restored now for three weeks. He lives on a mountain, so a landline is needed due to there not being a lot of cell service. The landline went out, and he made an appt a few weeks ago for a technician to come repair it. He confirmed the night before and I was home to let them in, but they never came. He was at a dentist appt, and apparently they sent another text to him that morning to confirm AGAIN. When he didn't respond (because he was in the chair and thought he'd already confirmed it...because he had), they cancelled it. Now, the service ticket is closed, and yet they can't (won't) open a new one. He's called, and when he's finally able to get someone on the phone, they can't do anything for him. I tried to help him with the online chat function to get it scheduled. We get all the way through to scheduling on a specific date, and then the chat agent says they can't do it because there's another service ticket on file. But it's been CLOSED. And that's it. It all starts over. He went to a local office, and they told him he can't see anyone without an appt. But there's no way to make an appt. DO BETTER, Windstream. read more

Absolutely horrible customer service, disconnected by phone never return call. First, I was basically forced to switch to their fiber optic Internet. I was told I would get a it for $60 a month for 12 months by rep on phone. Took them 2 weeks to finally come out to install. They left the cable just laying across my yard and walkway for a week till they finally set it up. Get my first bill and it's over $100. I call and ask why they said I don't get that promo because I'm a existing customer. Shows you how they treat their existing customers. Now the bill is different every month. Service is rarely the speeds we pay for. My employer uses them on commercial account, wants a small fortune to upgrade. I was fine with the speed I had before at a ok price. If you have another option do it, Kinetic by Windstream is a dishonest, overpriced scam of a provider. read more

Kinetic by Windstream - Not even getting half of what I pay for - Internet Service Providers Near Me

On top of unreliable internet service, bill steadily increasing, and customer service just about non existent. They'll leave you on hold forever, of course no apologies or business-like phone etiquette. A fairly simple inquiry about my bill ends up with rep Joe(which is probably a fake name)loud talking me, talking down to me, with a low-key angry attitude my guess is he was frustrated that he wasn't able explain himself clearly. When called out on it of course he lied claiming not true. Never reviewed windstream online before but this isn't the first cs issue I've had with them. read more

My experience with this company is on the negative scale. Simply awful. Our Internet has not worked in several weeks and when I originate an appointment for a technician to come out, I had to cancel because of work. I called to reschedule for the next week and the last I spoke to, failed to make the appointment. So I took a day off of work for no one to show. I called again and spoke to Gregory who made a new appointment for the following week and when I asked to speak to a supervisor, they put me in hold and eventually hung up after 10 mins. Several years back we cancelled our Windstream service due to poor service and terrible customer service but with the new fiber Kinetic coming out we figured lets give it a try, what a mistake that was. A salesman came to our home on 3/17/23 friday and discussed the plans with us and cost so we set up a installation at our home on Monday 3/20. The tech showed up on time at 9am told us the service would take about 2-3 hours for install. For about a hour the tech was in his truck texting on his phone after taking a quick look at our pole out front and service box in the back of home, after another 30 mins on his phone he advised us our terminal for install would not work he could not activate it so he would have to go back to the office and speak to engineering for help with the install. another hour and a half passed he came back to our home and said he could not do the install until engineering fixed the problem he would return on tuesday 3/21. On Tuesday we texted the tech at 9am and asked what the status was, he advised us they had to send it to a tech in Arizona to figure out the problem and should hear something by 5pm and if he didnt he would call them and inform us. really a tech in Arizona to fix a problem in Charlotte North Carolina not looking good. we heard nothing back at 5pm no response. Wed 3/22 11am no response again from tech so we text him and also the salesman to find out whats going on with the install to get a update no response from either person all day. Thursday 3/23 nothing no calls no texts no installation and no updates. well as you can see their service still remains terrible so we cancelled our home, our daughters home, 2 rental properties and we told a couple of friends who were also interested in the service and they also cancelled. INSTALL AT YOUR OWN RISK and read all the reviews!! read more

They are the only provider in our area. I've had dropped service since September (it's November 28 today). The service will just stop working, and I'll have to reset the router. Six calls for support and it's still an issue. Then, the Friday after Thanksgiving, a line went down. I had already called in a ticket. I got a text saying it was part of an area-wide outage and my ticket would be cancelled. After that, there was no more communications via their text messaging system. I called and got representatives from some outsourced location whom I could barely understand. Each time, they were telling me "It'll be fixed by 12 am (the next day)." Well, that turned out to be complete lies. Friday went by, then Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and most of Tuesday before I finally had a tech come to my home. This was a horrible experience with no communication from their end. I do work from home and the kids need Internet for their college classes. We can't just take days off like it's no big deal. At no point did I feel confident that Windstream would take care of me. I've been a customer for 18 years because I have NO CHOICE. If I did, I'd have left them years ago. read more

My telephone and DSL really sucks here in Ohlethorpe Ga. Lost of dial tone, slow internet speed and frequent lost of service is really a pain. Moving from Cedar Rapids IA here to retire feels like a big mistake. After years in electrical and computer electronics I know what accepable service is and they falls short. After several visits from their techs and with them knowing that they need to pull a new trunk line because it's near end of life, they just patches for the moment and they problem just returns. I'm fustrated and feed up. Being in the sticks really sucks air. Oh and GA power isba little worst about eight outages last year and five so far this year...fed up! read more

I'm unsure of the worker name that came out to check on our service due to some other company cutting multiple lines into but this gentleman really worked hard to get it fixed I hope he gets a raise or a promotion of some type. After 10 years of only having one option in my rural area, I am thrilled to be done with Windstream. The service is basic at best and the last few months we used them it was constantly going out. Customer service was a joke. A virtual chat host was the typical point of contact, and if we ever did get an actual person on the phone we were transferred multiple times. After intermittent service in November and December, we cancelled and tried T-Mobile, which was finally available in our area. Today we got a call from a collection agency stating we have an over due bill. I called to try and resolve the issue and remind them of the timeline of events, the poor service and multiple attempts at cancellation. I had to explain the situation and was transferred FIVE times before the last agent let me know, "as a courtesy" they were only charging us for a portion of what we owed. Unbelievable. We cancelled in December after having little to no service in November, yet they show no cancellation until March. If you have any other option, I recommend to go with that. We are now paying 1/3 of what Windstream charged all those years. We have excellent service in every way. Windstream is clearly taking advantage of rural users. Beware! read more

If there was an option for no reviews I would put that. Service has been 10 times worse since kinetic took over windstream. We experience lengthy outages and in and out service and our home phone line hasn't been working since 4pm yesterday. No help from customer services either. They give my mother in law the run around and she's past 60 years old. Today they even told me that I couldn't even report a problem because I wasn't her. She has been a customer for over 20 years and this service is unacceptable! I'm sick and tired of her having to pay for services not received! read more

On November 10th, I received a phone call from a Kinetic employee at 10:56 AM. The employee said that they could upgrade my internet speed to 1GIGA for free. I agreed and asked them to do it. The employee scheduled a visit to my home for today, November 29th. Today, a technician came to my home and left. I measured my internet speed after the technician left and found that it was still only 120Mbps. I called Kinetic and asked about this. The employee said that the service work order for today was to upgrade my internet speed to 500Mbps. I am very disappointed and angry with Kinetic. I am an existing Kinetic customer, and I feel deceived and misled. Why did the employee call me and say that they would upgrade my internet speed to 1GIGA, when the actual work order was to upgrade it to 500Mbps? How can Kinetic handle things this way? Shouldn't Kinetic keep the promises they make to their customers? If you think I am lying, please listen to the phone recording from November 10th. read more

I have had these guys for 5 months now and only ever had issues with them. I'm so fed up with them I'm contacting my lawyer and switching as soon as possible. I have gotten the phone and internet package with them. Since day one my phone did not work. And that is pretty bad because it is my only form of communication and I'm disabled. They had 3 techs come out and none of them could fix the problem. Then after the last tech left they put out that I need to get a test call. Well that became getting called every single half an hour from 8am to 6pm for weeks. I had well over 3,000 missed calls from them, because after awhile I got tired of answering. Than a tech was supposed to come out again to fix this issue. Come to find out they made an appointment without talking to me first so I missed it. Than they made another appointment telling me it was on the 11th. I stayed home all day that day and woke up early just in case they showed early. They never showed I called and they told me the tech was at my house knocking for a half an hour and than left. I than told them he was lying and I guess they didn't know I had cameras on my front and backdoor. And once I told them they wanted to act stupid. And then was put into a circle after circle trying to fix the issue. Another tech came out he was pretty cool and helped out. But after that my bill came in. I looked at it and saw a extra $50 on my bill before I called them I looked at my bill and it said it was for missing my appointment for the tech that never showed up. Once starting the chat with them. They said that it was normal that my promo codes are out and that makes my bill from 34.99 a month to 145 a month. I told them what I saw on my bill and asked if I could get an itemized bill sent to me. They stoped the chat after that with no reply. I called them then and told them my issues asking for an itemized bill. They proceeded to tell me they can't send me one and said everything looks normal. He started to add everything up with my package and it only came to $78 after my promo codes being expired. He got really confused and then put me on hold. Once getting off hold he proceeded to tell me everything was normal and I couldn't get an itemized bill sent to me. Everything seemed really shady. Out of the whole time of me having service with them I had nothing but problems there was maybe only 2 days I didn't have to contact them about a problem out of 5 months. So I will be contacting my lawyer and I will be switching. I will never have a good thing to say about these people and will never recommend them to anyone, not even my worst enemy because than they would be making money when they don't deserve it and all they ever do is try to scam people. if I could give them 0 stars I would. read more
