Not a good service provider of Internet . Since February I've had to call in twice a month for services not provided. Once it was out for over a week . Then trying to get me reimbursed is another heartache . Not to mention they had to put another hole in the side of my house for the fiber optic to go in . My Kinetic modem died after a particularly rough storm. Called Kinetic support and the earliest date for a technician to come out and replace the modem was 2 weeks in the future. I do not recommend using this provider as they are not able to get your internet back on in a timely fashion. Their hold times are also 40 min+. Once they get you in the door, don't except much in terms of customer support. read more

Signed up for their fiber optic service in a new community that's already pre wired for them and other homes here already have their service. Had to wait 2 weeks for the install only to be told the install could not be done as the home was missing the proper power splitter. The installer stated engineering would have to send out another team to install the splitter and then they'd send him back out to perform the install of the service. Called customer service to be told that engineering had 15 days to look into the issue. What a joke. Nahhh I'm not waiting for at least a month after I bought the house to get my internet up and running. Unacceptable especially by today's standards. I have been paying for 40-60 mbps (their fastest internet.) For the last 9 days, my speeds have been 4-9 mbps. Not useable. I work from home. Nothing has been done after THREE HOURS on the phone. Multiple phone calls and online messaging did nothing. I was told I'd have to wait another week for someone to come to my house and trouble shoot. Again, I work from home. Also, get this. If I can't physically be there for the agent, I get charged a 50 dollar fee. I asked for my bill to be adjusted this month since I'm paying for a high quality connection and was told that no adjustment would be made. So I've been sold product A, and have recieved product B. How is this even legal. I type this using my phone's 4g connection and it's much faster. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE IS TECHNICALLY ILLEGAL. IT'S CALLED BAIT AND SWITCH. The worst...I have been with windstream because they are the only option in my area. They finally came to barrier the phone line after leaving it running across my yard for weeks and cut through my electric dog fence. I reach out to windstream the day it happened they said someone would come out and someone would call back in 24 to 48 hours. No one showed or every called me back. After calling for a week to get help I handled the issue own my own before my dogs figured the fence was not working. This happened 1st part of December and here we are in February, no call back from customer service to get reimbursed for the cost of the repair the fence. I have reached out to the company on 10 different occasions. Horrible service and they do not follow back when they say you will get a call back. I lost my internet early Saturday morning. I called the customer service number and unfortunately got a person speaking poor English in a foreign country. The representative was not sure where I lived or the condition of the area wiring problems. I had to call back several times that day to finally get a promise of service. They told me maybe Sunday by 5pm or Monday some time. I called 6 times after during late Sunday and was disconnected 6 times. I got a call from a service technician after I had obtained service from another company. I tried to cancel the service and have been hung up once and transferred no less than 7 times. The day came and they told us that there was something wrong on there end and that they wouldn't be out until Friday. Friday come and no call no text we call them and they said they will be out on the 10th. This company is stealing me blind. We have had service with them for year, and have regularly had minor issues, but for the last 7 months or so my service has been unusable. We have had a string of technicians at least once a month sometimes more. They can see that we are having a problem, but they can't find the cause, and can't fix it. We have talked to billing, who have promised to adjust our bill which still hasn't happened. I dont have another provider in this area so I'm stuck and they know it. Placed order for service installation and received prompt appointment confirmation HOWEVER, after rearranging personal obligations to be personally available- they changed the installation date and claimed they sent a text about it. They made a personal call to confirm the install prior to these events but couldn't call and speak with me regarding the change? I've had Windstream for 4 years at my residence and added it to my summer trailer. No problems at home ever. On my second modem at my summer place and it's locking up constantly, buffering, dropping connection. Worst part is you can't contact them with ease. Customer service absolutely sucks. Horrible customer service. I was told that I would have 25-31mbps, which I thought would be great since I only needed 4 to have my security cameras set up. The technician came out on Wednesday 06/21 and set up the internet. Apparently he didn't check anything before leaving because l was able to get the internet on my Mac and IPhone after he left, but when the technician came out from the security company the next morning, and checked the speed, he told me l was getting 1.6 mbps. I called Kinetic while the technician was still at the house, and a representative by the name of Liv insisted that her screen was telling her that I would get 25 mps for downloads and 31 for uploads. I told her this was not the case. She said she would transfer me to the repair department. A representative by the name of Gavin said he would do some troubleshooting. After approximately 45 minutes he said there was something wrong with my wires. He said he would send a technician out, but the soonest he could have one out was the 28th, but he would put in an escalation stating that I needed it done ASAP. After hanging up with Gavin from Kinetic, I was told by the security technician that his company phone was not getting internet. He tried his person phone with the same results. Everyone in the home tried but the internet service was completely out. I callEd in with an issue about speed, and ended up with no service. I called back and spoke to a representative who told me there was a ticket in for the problem, but the time had been moved up from the 28th to the 24th. This was ok for the speed issue, but I let her know that they were leaving me without any internet, and that was not the problem for the original call. They actually made things worse. She said she didn't know what Gavin had done, but she would transfer me to someone who could help me. After waiting on hold for well over another hour, I finally hung up. I called back and explained the situation to the next representative and after telling me there was nothing she could do, I asked to be transferred to a supervisor whom I could make a complaint She in turn transferred me to another representative named Brandon. Brandon informed me that there were not any notes from my call speaking to Gavin, nor Julie (the representative that I spoke to after Gavin). To make matters worse the ticket for my original prob had been closed, and the soonest they can get someone out now is the 30th. He said he didn't know why Gavin said they could escalate the case to get someone out to my home ASAP. I explained that I am a veteran, and need the internet for video appointments with the VA. After speaking to approximately 7 different people, getting a lot of I'm sorry's, and literally the entire day on the phone with Kinetic By Windstream, I am left with no internet and the inability to keep 3 appointments with the Veterans Administration. I had this service for only one day and I am experiencing more problems than a person should experience throughout Their entire service contract. Kinet is the only internet service offered in my neighborhood, but if I was able to get a different service, I would. One star is the lowest rating I am able to give on Yelp, but if I were able to go lower into the negative amount of stars I definitely would. If you are able to avoid Kinetic by Windstream, definitely do so. You will be saving yourself a lot of headaches and anxiety. read more

My dad has been trying to get his phone service restored now for three weeks. He lives on a mountain, so a landline is needed due to there not being a lot of cell service. The landline went out, and he made an appt a few weeks ago for a technician to come repair it. He confirmed the night before and I was home to let them in, but they never came. He was at a dentist appt, and apparently they sent another text to him that morning to confirm AGAIN. When he didn't respond (because he was in the chair and thought he'd already confirmed it...because he had), they cancelled it. Now, the service ticket is closed, and yet they can't (won't) open a new one. He's called, and when he's finally able to get someone on the phone, they can't do anything for him. I tried to help him with the online chat function to get it scheduled. We get all the way through to scheduling on a specific date, and then the chat agent says they can't do it because there's another service ticket on file. But it's been CLOSED. And that's it. It all starts over. He went to a local office, and they told him he can't see anyone without an appt. But there's no way to make an appt. DO BETTER, Windstream. read more

Kinetic/Windstream is the absolute worst communications company in existence where customers are seeking either telephone or internet services. Take a very close look at the overwhelming negative reviews because it is their service and response to problems that will leave you paying the price time and again without any degree of satisfactory response by Kinetic/Windstream. Steer clear and opt for any other means to obtain telephone and internet services or you will find yourself among the literal thousands upon thousands of unhappy customers who are paying good money for the worst a communications company platform has to offer. The ratings speak for themselves and companies like this need to be side-stepped to the extent that they are put out of business. People deserve reliable telephone and internet services and while problems can naturally occur, these companies need to respond promptly and professionally in correcting what is very often repetitive problems that are entirely unnecessary. Kinetic/Windstream gets away with offering the least for your money because their perception is that the customer base has no means to negatively influence their perspective and manner of doing business. If people collectively boycott the company and hit its stockholders where it hurts, it will gain their attention. If customers collectively abstain from signing on with Kinetic/Windstream until the company goes under then it is where they belong for failing to put its customers first and foremost as the most valued commodity. It is how customers can put corporations like Kinetic/Windstream on the sidelines for failing to meet the mark by virtue of declaring themselves out of reach and subsequently tone-deaf to the responsibility in providing quality services for payment received. This company persists, together with mounting negative reviews, because people simply allow it to take place and yet people are the very source of the power necessary to remove companies like this from the range of options available. People have the ability to force corporations to compete for their business based on the value and reliability of services provided that offers successful technical support in a manner commensurate with quality and expeditious reply that indicates customer satisfaction is first and foremost. You can go online to your account to see your payment history, but you can't tell what you are paying for, you can't change you plan, the online support is worthless because they can't really tell you anything or do anything for you. They have jacked prices up $20 in less than a year, a 33% increase in cost. The modem they give you lasts a couple months and craps out.
