This review is not so much on the store but instead on the personal reading I had with Deborah or Debbie as she is called. This is what I submitted on their own website.. lets see if they put it up. I will update if I decide to speak with another psychic there at Kindred Journeys and have a more positve experience. Except, I actually had to call in 3 times which I omitted on the testimonial, (once because she wasnt ready yet at my appt time, 2nd time I got her but the phone was about to die on her end and finally the 3rd time is when we started the session. ok, so this is what I submitted. Let me start by saying.. I do hope you post all your testimonials and not just the good ones. I think that is only fair to let everyone decide for themselves if they want a reading from the person/counselor. This was my first time using a psychic from Kindred Journey and unfortunately she did not have any testimonials on your website but I figured I would give her a try anyways. I had a reading with Deborah last night 6/21/12 and I have to say, I was disappointed because I felt like she was so off and just grasping at things that didnt make sense at all. (I have had readings with other very gifted psychics, who just start spitting things out about me or my situation that were spot on) unfortunately this was not the case with Deborah. She was asking me questions instead of just telling me what she was seeing or hearing. It felt like she was fishing for something to talk about. I told her I wanted to start with a general reading and we could go from there. I asked her a couple of questions about certain situations and she couldnt be further off. She kept saying the same things over and being very vague about EVERYTHING. I gave her some information hoping that maybe if I gave her more specific information she might tap into it better and I would get a better experience but no she didn't. I wish I could get my money back as this reading was a waste of time and money. Also, she started my reading a few min late because she was having problems with the phones there and said she would restart my time but instead she tried to end my session early because she said my time was up. Well, I record all my readings and knew that my time was definitely not up because it has a timer and I mentioned it to her. She came back for another couple of minutes and I wasnt going to argue about that since this whole reading was pretty much a waste of time from the start. I just wanted her to know that I was aware that I didnt get my full half hour. She basically talks too much about nothing and generalizes way too much and if you ask her if she can be more specific.. she said she can't see clearly what they are trying to say. This place used to be so great, but I was there yesterday and it's REALLY gone downhill. Their book section is now completely gone, and so they have a maximum of 30 books in the store, which are just stacked on a display with a sign asking you to not read them. The atmosphere is completely different -- it used to be very calming, and now they play music from the radio, and the girls at the counter kvetch loudly about their parental issues, so that you can't really concentrate on your shopping We were in the store for about 20-30 minutes, during which time not one of the three women even acknowledged our presence, forget about greeting us or making us feel welcome. One of them even came over to the same display I was looking at and called across the room to her friend, still not even looking at or interacting with me. I was looking for books on shielding, but they had absolutely nothing on that topic, so I looked at the crystals and accessories. I've been needing a new pouch for my tarot cards, but they didn't have anything near the right size -- in fact, the only pouches I saw were tiny cheapily-made sacks of incredibly shabby material, ostensibly made for keeping stones in, if you don't really care about the quality of something you're going to put your stones in and carry around with you. They had some REALLY ghetto beanbags to display bigger stones on -- I'm talking, made out of shaggy thin material of even lower quality than cheap stuffed animals won at a skeevy carnival. It gave me the creeps just to touch it, and the thought of placing any of my crystals on it simply appalled me. The store seems to be solely comprised of "displays" now. There don't seem to really be any sections of anything. The pictures shown here on this site are not indicative of the current state of the store. As I said, they have barely any books at all; and even the second display pictured is more abundant than anything I saw in person. Their selection of small stones is adequate -- nothing exciting or unusual, and some stones are conspicuously absent -- but I will say that the small stones are only 60 cents each, which is a lower-than-average price. The store isn't very big to start with, so the fact that they no longer really have any departments or a huge selection of anything means that you feel like the entire store is just a waste of space. This is why I find that other recent review where they told the woman "we carry so many I would have to go through by hand one at a time to see" so amusing -- while it's not unusual for smaller stores like this to not have their inventory in a computer, they have virtually NO STOCK, so it really shouldn't take anyone very long to check the shelf. Plus, if you're doing your job right, you have a vague inkling of what kind of things you have, because you straighten and restock on a regular basis. Of course, maybe they don't even do that, because my husband pointed out to me that everything in the store was very dusty, which would explain the stagnant feeling of the space. In a small store like that, it's very easy to keep things clean and the displays well-stocked and sparkling...but I guess the staff is too busy filling the space with emotional baggage energy to actually maintain the store or help its customers. It's sad, because it used to be such a lovely space. Skip it, and drive the fifteen minutes down to Encinitas for Soulscape, a much bigger, nicer, friendlier, and just all-around better store. read more

5 Stars for the reading, for the location and for the shop. I arrived Friday to get a reading. Place is easy to find on PCH in a plaza near Oceanside Library and Circle K. I received a reading from a sweet woman Katie. I was very curious of how my reading would turn out. Katie's reading was 100% accurate and I took notes because it is so much in 1 hr that I know I would forget. I would strongly suggest to ask for Katie. This is a great little place. Although the selection isn't huge, you somehow seem to find just what you're looking for. And the back section with books has a lot of really great items. The woman who works there was really nice and friendly. And they have a calendar of events, which is pretty great for a military town. Also, the prices are very reasonable. The second I step through the door way of Kindred Journeys, I was instantly calm and very relaxed. The staff was very helpful and full of wonderful knowledge which they kindly share. Just got a second reading with Gayla today and have had more from Monique and of course Kaylee since my last comment. While Monique an Kaylee have been such an inspiration in my life and I forever will continue to seek their guidance, Gayla is clearly NOT!!!!!!!!!!! She was negative, critical and less than helpful to put it gently!!!!!\. When I needed clarity on some of her comments she would shoot me down and almost scorn me. She would say " let me say this one more time!" and offer her unsolicited opinion (ego) and not ever answer my question. Another thing she said was "you deserve what you get." That might ring true but in this case it came across as a put down. I come to psychics to get clarity and help from Spirit but she provided none of that which is very sad! Maybe she had a bad day or might be going through the ups and downs of life but when It comes down to it the negative energy and tone she created was more damaging than helpful to the reading and it's not fair!!!!!!! I've known people to ask for refunds and I this horrible reading deserves one but I will settle it this way on Yelp instead. The reading seemed more like a conversation and not so much of her telling me things. She would ask me questions and just talk about the information I gave her. Ok, I have never had a palm reading, tarot card reading, crystals, etc.. My interest was mainly curiosity. For whatever reason, Sunday morning palm reading came to mind, completely out of the blue. I pondered. I met my daughter and talked about it over breakfast. We checked Yelp and other sites and decided Kindred Journeys was a good place for us to explore. I checked the website and read about each person at Kindred Journeys. I felt Kate was a good choice due to having several generations of her family participating in Tarot cards, etc. We went in and I was so nervous. Nervous that the cards would be accurate or not ... I went first. Kate was already in the room. She was very nice. I won't go into specifics but to say she was on point with those I was concerned about: my relationship and my children, is an understatement. Cards came up that described each daughter were so spot on I did freak a bit. The cards described each child and their personalities and abilities. The one single thing that really blew my mind was she knew my eldest recently broke up and the cards turned up pegging the ex perfectly. They broke up due to cheating and drugs. She did not know any of that and described him to a tee. She indicated he is not monogamous and that was the reason for the breakup, in addition to substance use. She said my daughter needs to stay away from him, which we all said in the very beginning of their relationship. She discussed my relationship and really tagged my boyfriend. I only paid for 15 minutes and wished I had done an hour. As the session progressed, I really wanted to continue. Afterwards, my daughter went in to discuss her parents and her own relationship. She is pretty level headed and was stunned and amazed when she came out. She described me and my work, that I did not mention during my session and she didn't either. She described her father's personality spot on, believe me! She tagged my daughter's talent and future goals and her current relationship. To say I am still flabbergasted is the truth. I am very honest and did not expect what we experienced. I did not try to read anything into what was told to me and try to make it fit my life. The cards told the truth. Now, we want to go back for an hour, which may not be enough.. ha ha. It is $20/15 minutes. That is a good price compared to the ones we researched, some were over $100. I had a couple of readings with Amy & Lisa and I would not recommend them. It was not worth the time or money. I asked them both a specific question about a financial situation. Both said they were sure of the outcome they predicted but both were very wrong. I understand the power of positive thinking and intentions but these women were ineffective. I don't believe their mediumship skills are very developed they were both reaching and grabbing for other methods to back up their words. Lisa asked for my birthdate and read from an astrology book, as a professional astrologer I can say what is written in the stars can change through our thoughts and actions. Lisa also went on to explain what I had been thinking of the week previous to my reading with her....inaccurate once again. As a medium I can understand some channeled writings but cards and birthdates and numerology come on now! I have since found a highly skilled medium that has truly developed her gifts, what a huge difference!!! As for the store itself they sell gems, cards, creative gifts and I would shop there in the future. I do hope others find this helpful I felt a responsibility to state the truth and I know there are people who will be interested I should have listened to my gut feelings we all have intuition but I went back to give both of these women the benefit of the doubt. I stopped by this place for the first time last week. Overall, I was not impressed. The vibe and energy is definitely off. I walked in and it was dead quiet, no music, no one talking, nothing. Kindred Journeys is not only a metaphysical bookstore, that carries various books and trinkets dealing with parapsychology, but also offers psychic services. They are two women usually one site, each with a different specialty. The one I made my appointment with was a medium, or an individual who has the ability to speak to the spirits, dead, or an angel. With respect to accuracy, she was fairly accurate about most of the things that she said about me, with some few misses and some vagueness/ambiguity in her responses. The experience overall was pleasant and warming. She genuinely seemed interested in giving me advice and talking to me and was very kind throughout the whole experience.
