My child went there about 12 years ago and I never had an issue with scheduling or payments. A couple of month ago I decided to take swimming lessons for myself. I made a huge mistake by paying to the owner's wife directly. No receipt. I went for 3 classes and I absolutely loved it. But then the owner cancelled lessons due to " family circumstances ". He promised to make up for those classes, but disappeared completely. I called and left messages, I texted, reached out in social media. No response. I will report him to a business bureau, but I did lose money. Very disappointing and unprofessional! read more

Came here for my sons classmates party ! Great idea, indoor swimming and pizza after. The boys had a great time. The place overall is a bit dated/ worn. The lifeguard on duty gave each child a brief swim test and made sure those not as skilled had the proper flootys. There is a change room area for the swimmers also. As I type the party is haulers by the presence of a huge bug on the table... I noticed everyone complaining about their eyes and throat burning in the pool. I will say of all the local swim places this place had the best rates for swim lessons so I will be in touch for that. Not the greatest experience. Apparently they have a no refund policy, but don't provide trial classes. I signed my son up for the beginner class. He had been in swimming lessons before, but didn't fit the description of the next level up. Turns out it was way to easy. Another problem was that there is no safety barrier for small children spectators. Just a bench and a few feet until the pools edge. I had to bring my 2 year-old, which was nerve racking. There is a waiting room, but if you wait there you can't see your child swim. Because there was no trial offered, I simply asked for a refund, which they were reluctant to give. So I asked to roll the amount into private lessons in the morning (which is the only time that fits my schedule). A few weeks went by and the only time slot they could provide was 11:30, which didn't work for us, so I asked for a refund again. Eventually they docked me the first class and sent me a check (adding an unfriendly note in the memo), but overall it wasn't a good customer service experience. When I texted (their preferred method of contact) I often got no response for days, and then when I called the person I spoke was wasn't friendly at all. Oh well! read more

All three of my kids have taken lessons here. The instructors are top-notch, and we love the small class size. The instructors we've had in the past have adapted on the fly when my kids were a bit above or below the class description, which i appreciate. Yes, the building is a little dated, but don't let that fool you. The pool, lockers and facility are clean and well cared for. We also love the value you get here for the money. I also appreciate that they are a family-owned local business who contributes back in other ways to the community (like sponsoring youth sports teams). read more

Dirty, chlorine never right, poorly ventilated, and owner doesn't care. Locker rooms don't have warm water in showers so showering after to get chlorine off isn't possible without freezing. Two workers passed at young ages from cancer in the same year. Great loss to the swim lesson team and one must wonder if their chemicals were to blame. read more

When we first got there we were a little shocked at the setup of the pool and front office. If you are accustomed to the term "hole in the wall" then it describes KimSwim. There isn't a receptionist to welcome you or take your registration so there is a small lack of professionalism.now that we have established that, let's discuss the positives: Instructors that actually care about you and your child. They are patient and will work with you. The schedule is very flexible and it is hard to beat the student to instructor ratio. We went to the local YMCA for swim lessons and enjoyed that experience, but we also enjoyed the KimSwim experience as well. Their pool is legit and makes you feel as if you are in on some elite backyard training program. Bottom line: check it out and don't be put off by the setup. You or your child will enjoy the experience (no matter how humid that room is). read more

I signed up for the first time just recently. Great instructor , but that's it. It was hard to reach any personnel on the phone. The pool is overly chlorinated. I come out of there with burning eyes and a headache each time that I go and I'm not the one taking lessons. They won't open the door to let air in. The facility is just a room with a pool. There is a bathroom with a toilet and a separate shower on the outside. Two makeshift changing rooms. Rusty and musty. My child's current instructor is great. Really teaches form. I like her style of teaching. I'm debating whether to sign up again as the overly chlorinated pool and heat are beyond oppressive. read more

Jessica is a great instructor and she has taught me to swim and most importantly overcome my fears of being in the water. The schedules are very accommodating especially for those that work during the day. The instructor to student ratio is on average 1 to 3 so there's a lot of constructive feedback which is very helpful when learning something new. If your looking to get your kids in the pool and some formal swim instruction I think Kimswim is a place to be considered. It's pretty simple and basic but provides what's needed. It's conveniently located of Rt. 46 in a commercial strip mall. The building itself is tucked away and upon entering you walk right into the pool area. There are locker rooms to change but nothing fancy. I think for the price and facility it's a good deal. I must admit I haven't visited any other swim location except for YMCA and YMCA is totally different. read more

We have been going to KimSwims for many years. Ari has been working with my special needs daughter and really has patience with her. My daughter has overcome her fear of jumping into the water which took a long time. They are preparing my other daughter for swim team or teaching other kids. We held my daughters 8th birthday party here and everyone loved it! It was laid back, fun and we had the whole place to ourselves. The kids swam first then changed and we ate and danced in the party room (which was quite large.) The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the lifeguard was late so the party couldn't start until he arrived and when we arrived there wasn't anyone there who worked there so we were kind of on our own (ie the lights weren't turning on and we had no one to ask about it.) Ever since Miss Joanne (the instructor my child had) left, that place has gone downhill. They have 7 (YES SEVEN) kids in the water with ONE instructor. you pay $20 per half hour and your child is in the water for 5 minutes! not only your child doesn't learn anything but you are wasting precious time and money. Very disappointing. Also too hot in there. the door should be open as it is not a sauna, and people can pass out. read more

If I could provide Negative rating...I would do that...the instructors here doesn't know what to teach and how to teach. My daughter and I enrolled for the swim lessons and the instructor was a college kid who didn't know how to teach...he kept teaching us the arms steps and never guided on our kicks pattern...for the first 3 classes and on 4th he was not in...so then we got a new instructor and this lady was so rude and not at all child friendly..she scared the hell out of my daughter and after that class...my daughter was scared to go for the lessons. Somehow I motivated her and took her again and this time again we get a new instructor who said you need to first learn the kicks because that is more important. I said the other instructor told the other way round...she said may be because he is a new kid and is learning to give lessons. I paid $350 for me and my daughter for 8 classes..which went down the drain and we didn't even get to learn or understand which is the right way to learn swimming... today is our 8th class and my daughter is like dad we don't know who will be there today and if we'll get to hear something new this time. It's better we don't waste our time behind it...and forget the classes. We are not impressed. First it's nearly impossible to get someone live on the phone...there is no office staff. I get the impression that the teachers answer the phones between classes, or not at all is more like it. And the phone tag is ridiculous. If I leave you a message and you don't reach me live, LEAVE A MESSAGE. The numerous missed calls without answers to my specific questions in a voicemail is unacceptable. I really should have known when I asked if there were trial classes offered and the guy said "no pretty much everyone pays and swims". The first class for our 4 year old, we brought our toddler daughter with us because I was told there was a waiting/play room. Well the chlorine smell and heat in the facility are oppressive. Everything is covered in old wood paneling, so there is a musty smell. The pool is painted and that paint is chipped. My husband and I had headaches for the rest of the day! You cannot see the pool area from the playroom at all. There are envelopes and signup sheet in the playroom and you drop your money (cash or check only which is fishy to begin with) into a mail slot. The classes are too large -- 6 or 7 kids to 1 teacher. There was another class of older kids and that teacher barks orders like a drill sargeant week after week. Not very conducive to learning to love the water. We've been for 5 classes and have now moved on to a new school -- forfeiting the rest of the cash I put down for the 8-class session at KimSwim. No thanks! Guess what, a woman I met at the new school JUST LEFT KIMSWIM A FEW MONTHS AGO. There are such better places out there, run like real businesses. Shop around. read more
