BLUE material used on my PURPLE PRADA WHYYYY?!!!!!
    Stacie Y.

Honestly, I feel like a complete idiot because I hadn't even considered the ratings for this business. I don't always heed the warnings of "bad" reviews either because I like to give the benefit of the doubt and my business to the local vendors in support... Long story short is, I had a Prada mini bag that needed a zipper replaced. In my haste, I took it in to this place. Was quoted what seemed a fair/reasonable price and it took nearly 3 weeks before I got the call that it was done. The worst part is when I went to pick it up, the zipper worked fine, BUT they used a BLUE material on my PURPLE Prada!!!! WHO does that?!! Also, the stitching was so uneven and it was a very messy job inside and out. I don't like confrontations, so I just got my bag and left. NEVER again. So thoroughly disappointed (mostly in myself) with the entire transaction and regret leaving my precious Prada bag in such incapable hands. Not a happy customer to say the least. Don't make the same mistake(s) "I" did.

I've never been treated so poorly in my life! I had one patch sewn on a vest. First he tried to charge me $20 for something no one else has charged more than $10 for. When I say no thank you and turn to leave he dropped the price to $15. It was still a little high but I decided it was worth it due to location and turn around time. I go to pick up my vest the next day and notice that my patch is a little crooked. I point it out to him and he agrees it is off. He then seems to become very agitated. He tells me that he will send it back out to be fixed. I didn't know he didn't do the work personally. I told him I could not leave it with him another night he begins to yell and accuse me of not wanting to pay him and he knew i was trouble when I dropped it off. I was still trying to work something out with him and he kept accusing me of trying to hustle him. I told him $15 was too much for the job not to be done right. He just continued to yell. He had my vest bald up in his fist. I grabbed it and asked him not to handle my thugs like that. He grabbed my wrist and started to pull my item away. I'm telling to let me go. He threatened to call the police and I encouraged him to do so. Im telling That I'm not going anywhere but that he needs to respect my things and me. He finally lets my wrist go. I straighten my item out on the counter. He then yells get out! Really stunned at everything that just happened I just left knowing I'll never be back. That man was profiling me from the moment I walked in the door.

The original design of the boots (Michele M)

Today I went to Kim's Shoe repair to get some new heel tips put on my fairly new boots, while I waited. The original tips were made of that hard material that wears down prematurely. I have been going to Kim's since 1984 and no problems. Today he had another person working with him who replaced my tips. He put tips on that were over sized so I asked him to scale it down to the size of the heel (and original tip size). When he brought my boots back, he had re-sized the tips by sanding or however they do it and they were horribly shaped. On top of this, he had sprayed dye on my heels ruining the stacked heel design. I think he dyed them because he had damaged the heel. I asked him to have Mr. Kim come up front to discuss my disappointment and dissatisfaction with the quality of workmanship. Mr. Kim smoothed out the shape of the tip a little better, but also put more dye, which was botched up, to attempt to even out the other bad dye job. I could have broken down into tears!!! I just got the boots this past October (spent a little over $100 on sale and special discounts, but actual value was $159) and now the heels look horrible. This affects the overall appearance of the boots. They are basically ruined. Mr. Kim offered no apology and I don't even think he comprehended the extent of the damage he and his associate did to my boots. He still expected to be paid, which I did, but I will be filing a complaint with consumer affairs if he's not willing to reimburse me for my boots when I go back to see him with my receipt. Too bad I don't speak his language :( 12/21 update - Found the same boots at the store and will proceed to file the complaint for Mr. Kim to pay for the new boots plus refund me the money he charged me to ruin my original boots. I've decided I do not wish to get my blood pressure up confronting him again in person. By the way, the person helping him yesterday apparently is not schooled in shoe repairing. Before I pulled off in my car, I saw him go into the laundromat next door. He may oversee the laundromat, if not own it. 1/9/14 update - I filed the complaint with the Department of Consumer Affairs L.A. County. They contacted Kim's Shoe Repair. In turn either Mr. Kim or the other guy working there called me and I told him what it would take to clear up the matter. At any rate, on 1/2/14, I took the newly purchased boots (so they could see the original heel) and the boots they ruined along with both receipts to the shop. I let them off easy by having them reimburse me for the new boots which had been discounted even more since I bought the original pair. The other guy reimbursed me for the boots as well as for the $10 repair fee. He still made no attempt to apologize. I will never go back.

    The other boot!

I have been looking for a shoe repair business for a bit. I walked in this shop out of curiosity…read morebecause it was in the neighborhood. I am so pleased. The owner of this store is first a gentleman second an artist. He clearly knows his craft. I had many pairs of shoes that needed cleaning and repair along with belts and a handbag. All items meticulously cared for. They look great. So, if you are looking for a wonderful business operated by a professional and fantastic owner look no further, you are here.

I just hate it when I'm walking and my heel falls off, but this is just what happened. I had a pair…read moreof shoes from the '80's where one heel completely came off as I was walking and the other pair was just about to do the same. I noticed this shop took over the old One Hour Photo that had been here for decades, but closed. It's in the CVS shopping center, right next to Noah's Bagels. I took my shoes in, the proprietor and shoe repairman came out from the back. He gave me a quote of $30 to re-glue both heels. I took them in on a Saturday. He asked me if Friday was okay? I said yes and paid in advance. He gave me a copy of my receipt and stapled it to the ticket. Not too talkative, but he's a busy guy. He has quite the workshop back there, behind the counter. From the front, you can see his work bench and machinery. When I came back, there was a line. I also noticed there was a significant volume of shoes that were repaired and ready for pickup. I gave him my ticket, which he used to pull the plastic bin my shoes were in. Yay, new glue. I'm happy. I noticed he repairs purses, so that may be next on my list. He also sells merchandise. Ie Shoelaces and insoles.
