My experience with Kim's Martial Arts has been fantastic!  I am 45 years old and have been a student here for a little over 2 years.  My only regret is not joining years ago. After years of watching my daughter train, I was approached by Grand Master Kim about joining.  It was something I always wanted to do but was concerned I would not be able to keep up the pace with the much younger students.  However, Grand Master Kim assured me I would be fine. From the beginning Master Charles dedicated lots of  personal attention to ensure I was comfortable with the curriculum.  Before long I had noticeable improvements in strength and flexibility.   Today, I am stronger, more flexible, and healthier than I was in my early 20's.  I even participate in the sparring classes and compete in tournaments; something I thought I was too old to do. Above all other positive experiences I have had here, the bond my daughter and I have formed training together is something words cannot express.  I am forever grateful to Grand Master Kim, Master Charles, and my fellow students. read more

My daughters were students of Master Kim's studio for over 4 years. Master Kim is a very kind and caring instructor and has many many years of experience! His adult son Charles sometimes teaches with him as well as his daughter and both are as disciplined, talented and kind as their father! We recently took a break in training due to distance and other conflicting school extracurriculars that have sadly disrupted our ability to attend on a regular basis. But we miss our training and hope to come back once things settle down. His pricing is fair and less expensive than many competitors in the Elmhurst/Lombard area. His actual studio location is conveniently located next to a Jewel store so you can get grocery errands done while waiting to pick up your kids. I'm loving to see my little girl kick ass in class. Moving up belt colors and getting strong day by day. I see people leaving negative reviews about Kim's martial art school. And it's not respectful. I see happy, joy faces and children of literally all ages and parents including I participated in getting knowledge of discipline and integrity service before self. We're getting stronger day by day. These instructors, spend there time teaching the meaning of tae kwon do to defend and being brave. So I enjoy being here. Not carrying what the price is. If what they say shady or whatnot. I find it hard to believe so many kids should advance when they don't know their forms and put in a lackluster effort. The promotion charges $50 for the next belt and I felt this profit may be driving the promotion since even my son has never failed and yet many times doesn't know his forms. I'm not a teacher, perhaps this is OK. I will try another school to find out. I have no idea what the instructors face from parents. Nowadays we have scoreless baseball so perhaps there are parents happy to have their children advance even though they aren't qualified. I feel the reverse. There are many positive learning aspects from failure. How to deal with it emotionally, how to treat others, how to learn from it so you don't repeat it, and the impact of not being prepared. Kids need to fail so they can learn how to succeed. I don't want to say this place is poor but I am going to find a place that demands more from their students and doesn't cater to weak egos. read more

Beware of this shady deal. Kim will make you sign a one year deal which you have no way of getting out of. This place is all profit based. If you want to learn real martial arts go elsewhere. This institution is clearly out to get your money. You don't even get a trial period you sign the contract you are stuck for a whole year. Please parents don't go here. read more

It seems so sad, yet so typical for LAZY, UNDISCIPLINED people to have such anger for such a quality man like Master Kim. First of all rid oneself of the ignorance, this is a South Korean art, not China dumb ass.......it is an art form that does require a ton of work inside and outside of the center....Grow up and face the fact that your are weak, out of shape, and probably scared.....Master Kim and his approach is based on honesty, integrity, and discipline....It is not a way of business, it is a way of life.....what you put in, you will get out....As far as the notion of belts and promotions for cash...that is because we have raised such lazy, fat kids that need constant reinforcement away from their happy meals and I-Pads that if there is no success....well then, we must not be at the right place......read a history book if you have some time!
