I am so grateful to have found this hair salon in Escondido. My ground rule is that for Asian hair, it is always best to find an Asian barber. I have stuck to this rule for life and it has never failed me. Kim does a wonderful job with my hair and she is very quick! The price for a male hair cut is also very very reasonable, $18 including tips. The only downside to coming here is that you might have to wait quite a bit. I always call Kim ahead of time to set up a time, but all three times I've been here I had to wait about 30-40 minutes since she is busy with other clients. I honestly don't even know if calling ahead of time would even make a difference at this point. Regardless, Kim does such a good job with my hair for such a reasonable price, I can't really complain about the wait time. read more

Did you know that they have a nail studio now which is literally right next door? It opened 8 months ago and the main lady who does the nails is named Karen. Haven't been to have my pedicure done in a while and my husband actually had gone here 2x now because this place was recommended by our nail lady in the past (Nails by Lanna). As of right now, her price point is $25 for a spa pedicure. Karen did an amazing job. Thoroughly cleaned my nails and feet. Her nail salon is by appointment only so call this number 760-644-0205. During the summer, Karen mentioned that she'll have another lady help her so they can get more customers at that time. Go check her out. Will have to experience the hair studio. read more

okay so I got a haircut here couple months ago and before that my hair was already long, thick and growing nicely. All I asked for was a trim and a v cut. She did not take her time and immediately grabbed a shaver to make a v. Ever since I came here my hair doesn't grow and isn't as thick anymore. It keeps falling off and just feels weird. I'm not sure what what did they to my hair or what products she used. Would not recommend this place at all, just spend the extra dollars on somewhere that will give you what you want. My coworker and I were going to a hairstylist which was a bit highly priced and so her daughter recommended her to Kim Hair Studio. She looked really great when she had her hair done and she told me to try Kim Hair 'studio out. I made an appointment and she touched up and trimmed my hair. She is really amazing. I was waiting for my colors to settle in and she was cutting a woman who has long thick hair. She was snipping here and there and finally done. The lady was happy with her cut and I was impressed when she only asked for a small amount for the cutting. People were coming in and out of the Salon. Multi tasking, cutting, coloring, blowing hair and making phone calls appointments as well. She asked for only $40 For my hairdo. I highly recommend her and her brother who works with her. Ive been going to Kim for about 8 years and I feel bad I have never given feedback before. Where do i start... shes really nice, responds back in a timely manner, flexible w time, her rates are super reasonable ... and on top of that shes really good. I have short hair and its easy to mess up short hair but she cuts my hair w such precision and Im done in 15min. Yes her salon is no frills, but thats my preference anyways. I've been coming for years, You would think the loyalty that a customer has for a small business would be the same loyalty from the owner. I went in to have a dark Brown throughout my Hair. It was very clearly communicated and I had asked multiple times if it would be dark Brown being that the color looked black. Turns out I was right it's black I called the owner in which she in which she kept telling me that it was dark Brown last night made no effort to try to fix and resolve the issue. Sounds more like greed than wanting to give great service. So long to my cheap haircuts. I won't be returning! I chose this salon after reading the reviews. Kim did a nice job and she is a good colorist however I wanted silver highlights & darker silver base or lowlights. I brought a photo of the results I wanted. What I got was blonde on blonde over my natural light brown color. It's very pretty just not what I asked for. I'm giving 4 stars because she is very skilled. This has happened tat other salons. Despite how talented the stylist, I end up with what they choose instead of my choice. I'm at a loss for how to ensure the stylist follows my photo example or description. If I'm asking for something they can't do or if my color choices aren't available I'd rather be informed up front rather than disappointed. read more

Kim does descent work, but her lack of business sense and understanding of customer service in this solely service based industry far outweighs any positives. She routinely blows off appointments to take $10 walk-ins and has absolutely no shame when it comes to keeping you waiting. Today was probably the 4th or 5th time I've walked out on her because of this; each time telling myself it would be the last. I only returned today because I got a $150 gift certificate good for highlights, style & waxing. Per usual my appointment started late. Kim kept me under the lamp with chemical in my hair way too long to do a cut & style for another lady, left me in a chair with soaking hair for 40 minutes to take another cut & style who walked-in mid appointment and then had me camped out in the waxing room for over 20 minutes while she made small talk with a solicitor. I had been at the shop for nearly 2 1/2 hours and finally had enough and walked out without the waxing. This is definitely THE LAST TIME for me; you couldn't pay me to go in there. Do yourself a favor and spend a few extra bucks at a real salon or spa to get the kind of customer service you deserve, I know I will. read more
