Place is a glorified Holiday Inn. The only positive thing you can say is the room was clean. The shower is not enclosed, which I hate. If you have to find a bright side, it's that the floor did not get soaked because the shower is such a low trickle, you can barely rinse off. So if the rooms are at best mediocre, the service is horrible. Not only did they have our reservation under the wrong name ( which caused a long delay at check in, they refused to accept responsibility for attaching our reservation to some strangers IHG number. We explained both that we not only did not have an IHG number and but that they also miraculously somehow managed to get the credit card number correct to hold the room. Immaculate charging. Then, when we asked as a small make up for a 1:00 pm checkout the next morning, they refused because "it was against policy". Don't stay at this hotel. The quality of the rooms and customer service as dictated by management, specifically upper management, is terrible. It is amount the worst examples of customer service at this category and in the City of Cleveland one can find. Stay at a different hotel. I requested a complete refund for the shorted to one night stay I had at the Kimpton Schofield. According to the front desk, who are trying their best, upper management declined to offer any refund let alone some amount of discount for their failures, I was forced to cut the stay short and cancel due to a knowingly broken bed, the staff at the hotel repeatedly changing their story as to being able to fix the bed or magically having a bed frame on site and available to replace it with, and with the hotel having nothing available in the same category and above without hours and hours of back and forth and pleading for them to do anything. read more

Had noon reservation for 4 and were seated early. 2 coffees came out messy but quickly. Waters and mimosa carafe took THIRTY MINUTES to arrive and this was only after I went to the bar and asked someone to help us. Manager delivered bottle of bubbly but no OJ and told us he would comp the mimosas. We ordered food which came out pretty quickly but not very warm. When we received bill the mimosa carafe was still on the bill! Overall a very disappointing experience at a restaurant I was excited to check out. They were busy but we were clearly forgotten about and received cold food. And charged $100+ for it. read more

I stayed here for two night during a conference. The front desk person on my check in night had amazing energy. She set the tone. She was super charismatic and welcoming. I was pleasantly surprised. The room was cute. It was decent size, but the vents were dusty and there was a hair in my bed. Management was apologetic, and they offered me 5k in points, but I did not receive them. The water for the complimentary tea was lukewarm both days. The decor in the lobby was nice, and there were games to play. The hotel is in a decent location. Still on their game. Every. Single. Stay. Gia, Jana, Stephanie, Mikey, and crew go above and beyond. This team reminds me why I fell in love with Kimpton decades ago. The communication before, during, and after my stay was key. Friendly, thoughtful, professional, and accurate. Service is everything in most industries, especially hospitality. I did forget how loud the road noise is. You are in a city. Expect sirens, loud base, motorcycles. The windows must be old and let in all the noise at night no matter what floor you're on. The restaurant inside, Betts, is still hit or miss with both food and service (I'll update that review separately). It's a nice option open late for dinner and early for breakfast. Parking is valet only with plenty of close garages if you want to self park instead. EV charging is a challenge here. Make arrangements and don't expect to charge overnight. Last, but not least, I received an accurate bill emailed right after checking out. Exactly what was supposed to happen. Follow through and accuracy is appreciated. I stayed for one night while attending a convention. The building was very clean, but the lobby was small. I liked the dining table next to the entrance where you can charge electronics and the fire pit they had in the middle of the sitting area. Kimpton has a lovely staff. All of my encounters were friendly and polite. They explained all of the hotel's features and the way they answered my question didn't make me feel like a bother at all. My expectations for the room were a little high just because it was a Kimpton property, although I did get a Run of House rate. My room was next to the staff/freight elevator so I could hear a couple dings throughout the night. The view was terrible. I believe my room was internal and faced other rooms within the hotel. This side of the building wasn't nearly as clean as those facing the street. I thought the bathroom was OK, but I had to hold down the toilet handle for the bowl to completely flush. Also, I was disappointed they didn't provide water bottles in the room, but it wasn't a huge deal. The bed was comfortable which was all that really mattered for a one night stay. I was only there to eat and sleep. My stay was OK, nothing overly impressing but it wasn't bad either. You'd be safer staying at a hostile. I flew in last minute from Los Angeles due to my father's sudden death and pre-paid for a standard room for six nights. Booking on my amex platinum corporate card allows me to use many perks and incentives that the staff here will reject (once you check out of course). My flight got delayed so I called to let them know that I won't be arriving until after midnight. I was then told that if I don't show up prior to midnight, then I cannot stay there (the staff wanted to leave..). Finally I get there with my puppy (service animal) and I unfortunately didn't look super posh or chic (I was in my second year of medical school at the time and never slept). I just got the keys and went to my room to sleep for a few hours before I had to leave for the funeral. I hadn't eaten in two days and they wouldn't let me leave the property or they'd charge me automatically for 2 nights (since I arrived after midnight and they somehow assumed I'd be running off..). I ate from the mini bar. Long story short. Look at these bills. If you want the staff whose parents are definitely first cousins to calculate your stay and not bother you the entire time... then go here. ***To save the hotel even more humiliation, please don't respond with a petty fake solution to my review. This hotel has no business charging the prices they do. It's not a bad property, but it is not worth nearly $400/night. Let's start with the positives: The location downtown is a convenient walk to the ballpark and some other downtown attractions. You can even walk to The Flats or Ohio City if you're up for a 30min walk. The lobby has some comfortable seating and the free coffee in the morning is good quality. Bed/pillows were decent and comfortable enough. But that's where it ends. That same downtown location that seems like a win is more of a nightmare. Getting your car to/from valet takes forever. We arrived at check-in time and it took 25min just to drop our car off with the traffic jam their valet was creating on the main road. And IT IS SO LOUD. We had a 2nd floor room and we could hear everything from the normal talking conversations of the valet team below us to a million loud cars, people partying, arguments, people with mental health issues, and whatever else. You expect some noise with a city location but some sound proof glass would be nice. The noise went all day/night until at least 3am. At check in, all the towels in our room were wet. We let the front desk know- no apology or anything. They just said they would bring new ones. But like.... Wet towels can mean someone didn't dry them or....they were already used? How would we know? The shower head was disgusting with tons of grime. Fruit flies and regular flies in the room. Just not a great experience. read more

Pretty standard Kimpton experience at a competitive price in downtown Cleveland. Converted old building in the heart of downtown (as is their practice) with a slightly funky lobby. Team at the hotel are friendly -- somehow casual and professional at the same time, which, again, is part of their formula for a good property. Even offer plants at the front desk so you can have a live companion in your room. Kind of a subtle but thoughtful gesture for the solo traveler. Rooms are nicely enough appointed and comfortably sized, European style toiletries in the shower (which is to say pump bottles of shampoo, body soap, and conditioner -- a prefer that approach as it's more environmentally friendly and can avoid frustrating attempts to unwrap soap or shake shampoo out of a bottle...). Had the good fortune to have an upgrade (I am a rock-star level IHG client) and had a slightly larger room, albeit on the second floor so it was a little noisy. BTW, I always wonder if the "we've upgraded you to a better room" is something they say to everyone to make them feel special; that said I think my corner room was, in fact a little bigger than the standard. Loyalty pays, I guess. Little things matter -- electrical outlets and USB outlets on both bedside tables were super convenient -- sometimes old buildings don't have readily accessible outlets. Yoga mat in the closet as is also their practice -- I actually use them, so it's a nice little amenity. Gym is well appointed for a hotel gym -- treadmills, ellipticals, one upright computer bike (like a Peloton but different brand...which was a LITTLE bit of a bummer as Peloton seems to be the standard in many hotel gyms now), free weights, and a functional training pulley rack. Water and towels. My only beef -- and it's a really minor one -- is that they advertise that you can even have a guitar for your room. I play, and asked about that. Turns out in reality there's one (pretty lame -- but I'm not expecting a Martin) guitar that lives in the living room, and since my room wasn't ready when I arrived (n.b. I had asked for early check in which they can't necessarily accommodate all the time, no foul there) I went to play. Broken string, no replacements -- and I even offered to change the strings! Hardly a federal case, but one of those little things that you read in the marketing, find intriguing, and then find as a little bit of a letdown. Lobby bar closes at 10 and I had talked to front desk team about whether there are other places to go -- got a nice set of suggestions, which was a bonus, and a little thing that makes a positive impression. IMHO, of the downtown Cleveland hotels -- and I've stayed at all of them -- this is the one for me. (WARNING) the evening manager that checked me into my room had zero sympathy for me being claustrophobic. He was unwilling to work with me and basically told me in a nice way to GFYS. All because I wanted a window that wasn't looking directly at a brick wall.Not asking for any kind of FREE upgrade...What is happening to the hospitality business? I cannot recommend this hotel enough. After a disastrous Airbnb stay was cut short, I called here first thing in the morning to see if they had any availability. They did, and I was there about a half hour after we hung up. They put a rush on my room, and was in about an hour later. From check in, to other hotel staff, we were greeted by everyone with a friendly hello and a smile. Valet were excellent as well. You text them 5 minutes before you need your car, and it will be out front waiting for you. Room was cozy and perfect. Great restaurant Betts attached. I absolutely love this hotel! The location is so convenient, downtown and within walking distance of everything. There's a grocery store right across the street as well! Upon check-in, the guy at the front desk was so great and welcoming. There's an adjoining restaurant on the opposite side of the lobby. Even the lobby area is really nice with a great feel and hang-out area. The room was nice and clean with a good view. I also really like the décor with the rainbow "ottoman." Absolutely beautiful property! Only stayed for a night as we were just driving through, but needed a dog-friendly hotel and Kimpton did not disappoint. Staying in the Van Gogh suite was such a treat as it was stunning and well-appointed. Also loved that we were asked how our stay with the pups was going and were brought dog beds and bowls. The gals thoroughly enjoyed the views the suite had. I will say it is on the noisier side being in the center of downtown, but if you're like me and need some noise to sleep, I didn't mind it at all. It's within walking distance to lots of parks, restaurants and bars so it's a great location. I wish there was a pet area around the hotel, but there are lots of grass areas within a few blocks and we needed the walks anyway. Will be staying here again if the opportunity arises! read more

I've really enjoyed my last two stays at this hotel located in the heart of downtown Cleveland. It's walkable to many of the downtown sites, dog friendly, boasts a very friendly and accommodating staff, daily complimentary wine happy hours and coffee/tea in the morning and stylish rooms. Two other features I enjoy about the rooms here is the complimentary yoga mat and high quality bath and body products. And, if you forgot a toothbrush, deodorant, you name it, they have a stash on hand to save the day. The full list of items can be found in your individual bathroom. To top it off, the rates have been great during my last two weeknight visits. I had a great one night first time stay at the Kimpton. As an IHG member they were able to fulfill my request of an early check-in which was really helpful since I arrived at 12:30pm & had a show that evening. The lobby is small but sleek & the front desk staff and Ryan (not sure his exact title) were very friendly & helpful. My room was fairly large, on 6th floor & faced the street. It had huge windows & the bathroom was enormous, again with a massive window. Great toiletries & full size shampoo, conditioner & body wash in the see thru shower (no curtain or door, just half a glass wall). Bed was comfy, pillows fine. There was a ton of street noise, almost like being in NYC, so ear plugs could help light sleepers. The restaurant called Parker's is downstairs & I was in between lunch and dinner so they only had their small plates available but my calamari was delicious and the glasses of wine decent too. Believe it or not, I read about the Kimpton Schofield hotel a few months before I ever traveled to Cleveland. I was reading an article about historic architecture renovation and I was simply amazed by the transformation in this building. No where else in recent history can I find an example of a building that was reverted back to its original design after being destroyed in a 1960s "renovation." If you weren't familiar with its look before: the red terra cotta facade was chipped away and re-cladded with some hypermodern (cheap) grey facade for decades. They recently reconstructed pieces of the terra cotta and restored it to its former 1902 glory. See the attached before and after picture: it will blow you away. Aside from the rich history and its importance in what feels like the most flagship intersection in downtown Cleveland: this hotel is LUXURIOUS. I suppose I am not the fanciest person, but I have never stayed somewhere where the staff was so kind, attentive and genuinely interested in making sure that I had a top notch experience. Within minutes the valets and front desk staff knew my name. I mentioned that I was in town for two interviews; each day they thoughtfully wished me good luck and well wishes. There are other more mainstream amenities to talk about namely a free wine bar at 5PM (which I did not have time to attend) but overall I was just sold on great service that I got here. The soaps in the shower (oolong shampoo, geranium conditioner and citrus body wash) were so fantastic that I looked for them online afterwards... again small details that just made for a 'next level' stay. I would seek out the Kimpton Schofield again whenever I am in Cleveland. You may pay a premium to stay here, but this is not simply a place to rest your head for the night: it is an investment in history, a truly superior experience. read more

Locating in Downtown Cleveland is the Kimpton Hotel. It's a beautiful boutique hotel that offers an on sight restaurant. Nice views of the city, spacious rooms and large bathrooms. Me and my husband recently did an overnight staycation and had a lovely time. I booked the 1 bedroom Shite City View. It features a living area, a king bed and a spacious bathroom with a deep soaking tub. My husband is a government employee so we also received two complimentary breakfast tickets to use at the on sight restaurant Betts. The hotel offers a daily "happy hour" and guest can enjoy complimentary wine in the lobby. The lobby also features a gorgeous fireplace, several seating areas and a community table. Betts also has a fabulous happy hour and their menu features a variety of options to satisfy any craving. The hotel is pet friendly as well. There was one missed opportunity in reference to the in room coffee maker. It was not stocked properly. However I did notice a sign in the bathroom that list several toiletry options that the front desk can accommodate you with and I thought that was lovely. The hotel also offers valet services and is close to many nice restaurants such as Marble Room across the street. For entertainment you are also close to the theatre district and for sports fan the hotel is in walking distance to both the Cleveland Guardians and the Cleveland Cavalier stadiums. read more

This is such a beautiful property. You'll definitely be taken aback by the esthetic as soon as you enter the front doors. The hotel staff is professional in both appearance and demeanor. We felt warmly welcomed and were offered a glass of wine right away as we checked in during their free wine hour. We made our way to our room which was immaculate and once again, beautifully decorated. We enjoyed a cocktail at Betts downstairs and once again enjoyed the atmosphere. The reality is that being so centrally located in a bustling city, you can hear noise from the street. A great solution to this, I've always found, is to bring a little white noise maker. This was the only "issue" we had that is truly not in the staff's control so they won't lose any stars over it. Another tip I would offer is that if you'd like a reservation in Betts' ADORABLE Christmas lite greenhouses to call well in advance. Kimpton never disappoints. We stopped here while traveling across country with 3 adults and 3 dogs. We were assigned adjoining rooms by request and are delighted with everything. Our dogs are not city dogs but we're welcomed with open arms, gift bags, and doggy beds in our room. Parking isn't convenient and neither is a grassy area but both of those things didn't even matter. For a sophisticated stay in the heart of downtown CLE, look no further than the Kimpton Schofield Hotel. My most recent trip to the city included a stay here, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it or return. Located in an old historic building, the Kimptom Schofield Hotel is part guest hotel and part luxury living space, but this review is just about the hotel. Upon entering, we were greeted by the lobby that was both sleek and modern but also inviting at the same time. A fire pit encouraged guests to congregate, surrounded by cozy seating, and with a huge picture window facing out to the bustling downtown street to help connect you to the outside world. They offered a complimentary happy hour at 5 with wine and snacks, and free coffee in the morning. We spend part of the happy hour paving through some coffee table books that were scattered around to encourage mingling, and I especially enjoyed one about Cleveland with "them and now" photos of places around the city. After getting settled in our clean and comfortable room, I realized that I had forgotten some essentials. I spotted a sign in the bathroom and made a quick call to the front desk. Within about 5 minutes an employee brought up what I needed -- score for great service! The bed and linens were both comfortable, but we both felt like the street noise was a bit more than we expected and woke us up at times. Valet parking is $51 for them to leave the car on the street. The attendant also wouldn't acknowledge my wife. No deadbolts in the rooms and the shower is open, so it floods the bathroom. I had my cat and dog with me and at one point i couldnt find the cat anywhere and we called the front desk and everybody sprang into action and helped find him, he apparently found gis way under the bed even though it didnt look like there was a way to get under there. The staff in the restaurant were so friendly and helpful as were the people in the front desk. They loved my animals. Someone helped us with our bags even though they dont really have that (or at least what they said at check out). There was an insanely huge shower and the beds were very comfortable. Stayed during the 2024 Women's Final Four and eclipse in early April. The staff was very professional and went way out of their way to be friendly and hospitable. I'd give them 4-5 stars. The physical plant is poor. This is a historic building, but the rooms are have very awkward layouts (not a single shelf or drawer) and the furnishings come off as dated and warn. This hotel makes my heart so happy as a pet owner! We've stayed here twice and had the best experience both times. They welcome your pets FREE of charge and from the minute you walk in, they are ALL about your pet! They greet them by name and ask if you need anything for them. Not to mention, nearly everyone is checking in with a dog. It's like the pet lover and traveling pet's best day ever! I assumed that rooms in such a pet welcoming hotel would have an odor or be not-so-nice, but that is FAR from the situation. The rooms are amazing! Modern, cozy, clean and very nice. I hear they have a complimentary wine hour, yet we've never been there at that time to enjoy it. There is a very nice bar attached to the hotel for non-wine-hour cocktails. Parking is $38 for valet, but there is a self parking garage around the corner from the CVS that is around $10/day. It's literally less than a block away. If you forget anything at home, they've got you covered....from toothbrushes to curling irons...you name it! They provide bottled water and snacks in the room, but they aren't free. So, don't eat them unless you want to be charged for them. This hotel is literally in the heart of downtown Cleveland. So much to see and do within footsteps. I highly recommend this hotel!! This is SUCH an adorable hotel. I really enjoyed my 2 night stay here. The staff is absolutely amazing as well. It's definitely a little on the pricy side, but you can normally find good deals on third party sites. Even if you can't- I still say give it a go. The location alone is worth the price. It's smack dab in the heart of downtown Cle, close to everything you may need to access. There's lots of restaurants and bars nearby and a CVS in case you need specific items. The hotel does have lots of toiletries available if you forgot something. They have a full list of what they have available and some were shocking. You can literally borrow a curling iron! So check with the front desk if you did forget something. The rooms are really cute. The decor is more updated and chic. They have robes, a yoga mat and an umbrella in each room. They also have full size bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash in each shower. Can we take a moment to appreciate how amazing that is?! Bringing your own hair care is such a hassle but the travel sizes barely last 2 days. They also have a complimentary wine hour from 5-6. They have a choice of white or red and a couple trail mix kind of snacks. Really cool they do that. I will definitely be back when I go back to The Land! read more

I expected this to a be a trendy upscale hotel based on pictures but all that stops in the lobby. The elevators barely work and the room was a disappointment on every front but for the shower. Honestly one of the best showers I have ever taken and the water pressure could refill lake Meade. The room itself was small, poorly lit, and cluttered. The trendy brass lamps clanged as we walked around and ANY movement in the bed resulted in loud squeaking and clunking. The door into the room had a solid inch of bright hallway light coming in all night. The AC was right next to the bed and very loud. Not at all worth the money. This hotel was nothing like what is advertised . The shower head was moldy, all the outlets didn't work, the hairdryer was broken, the shower vents were broken and there wasn't even hand soap for us to wash our hands. We asked at 9 am the next morning to switch rooms. They said no Problem come back at 1 pm. We came back at 1 and they said come back at 5 pm or we will call you. No one called so we called again after our dinner at 9:30 pm and they said " sorry we have no open rooms". Just a really gross room and not great experience. read more
