Nikki literally saved my breastfeeding journey! Nikki came highly recommended to me by a friend, and she exceeded every single expectation! We started with a prenatal visit, and having discussed things beforehand made a world of difference. So many topics we covered actually came up, which reduced my fears immensely while in the hospital. Once my son arrived, breastfeeding turned out to be one of the most challenging parts of my postpartum experience. For the first 9 weeks of his life, Nikki worked closely with us through shallow latch issues, a tongue and lip tie that had to be corrected, and every other hurdle that came our way. There were times I was close to giving up, but Nikki stepped in, gave us the exact support we needed, and turned everything around. Now at 12 weeks postpartum, I am exclusively breastfeeding with a completely painless latch, a super stable milk supply, and a happy, thriving baby! Beyond her incredible lactation expertise, Nikki is just an amazing human who knows so much about baby care in general. I cannot recommend Nikki enough. We will definitely be working with her when I transition back to work and for any future littles! read more

If I could only choose one thing to do again with my second child, it would be my visits with Nikki. We met before our daughter was born, and that visit gave me so much confidence going into breastfeeding for the first time. After an emergency C-section, Nikki was there every step of the way--answering my texts while I was still in the hospital, visiting us less than an hour after we arrived home, and even being a safe place for my first solo outing with the baby. Her guidance helped me feel confident that breastfeeding was going well, and I was able to successfully nurse my daughter for 20 months. Even beyond breastfeeding, Nikki's support through every stage of early motherhood was invaluable. Every visit felt like sitting down with an incredibly knowledgeable friend who truly cared about me and my baby. Beyond her expertise, Nikki is organized, welcoming, funny, patient, and an absolute professional. I can't emphasize enough how much her support meant to me. Every new parent deserves someone like Nikki in their corner. read more

10/10 highly recommended. I wouldn't have BF my daughter for 3.5 years without her. The plan was 3 months, but it changed my life. Nikki helped diagnose a lip/tongue/buccal ties and helped fix my milk production issue. She helped my baby girl gain weight and thrive. She is 100% professional and uses the most evidenced based research to back up everything she says. I recommend her to anyone that's even thinking about getting pregnant read more

Nikki is incredible. She truly helped me so much. Our daughter had a tongue tie and BF was so hard for me. She made me feel so comfortable and validated the struggles I was having. She always gave me actionable steps and notes I could go back and review after our appts. As a first time mom, her guidance was invaluable and she was so honest with me about my progress. I'm so thankful I found her and would recommend her to every mom I know. Worth every penny and some! Truly she's a gem of a human! read more

Nikki was more than just lactation support (which she was phenomenal at!). She saw and supported me as a whole person through not one, but TWO postpartum/breastfeeding/pumping experiences and is the singular reason I was able to combo feed my first for 8 months, and exclusively breastfeed my second for 13 months through supply difficulties, tongue ties, and more. I do and will continue to recommend her to anyone and everyone. The BEST! Caring, attentive, funny, down to earth, and a wonderful person to boot. read more

Nikki is the BEST! So knowledgeable and truly cares/knows what she is talking about. She saved my breastfeeding journey and made the experience so much more enjoyable than my first time around when I did not have her. HIGHLY recommend! You will never regret having extra support read more

When i was pregnant i never thought about possibly having issues with breastfeeding. All i knew was that it was something i wanted to do. Here comes me freshly PP after having a c section and having the most horrific time in the hospital trying to learn how to breastfeed. Baby had latching issues and i was in pain nipples crusted bleeding and absolutely exhausted. I found Nikki and she completely changed my BF experience. I was drawn into the instagram side of pumping and breastfeeding seeing my small output and only milk coming out of my right breast thinking to myself what is wrong with me? What am i doing wrong? Why me? Nikki gave me the support and encouragement to keep going and she shifted my views on my journey. She asked me why are you pumping? You really don't need to pump you work from home. I knew i was a velcro mom always with my baby anyways and i'm like you're right. I started my exclusively nursing journey with her support and guidance and it completely changed me and all my anxiety and expectations went away. I also started nursing on my right side only (i was scared that it was wrong because i only saw people ever switching off boobs). Nikki said well your right is doing amazing and you'll have one smaller boob but who cares. i'm like you know what....you are right. Sometimes all you need is someone in your corner who will advocate for what you want and will help you fit this into your lifestyle if it's something you really want. Nikki did all of that and more. She helped guide us with mouth massage videos on youtube and helped us exercise baby's mouth with pacifier to help latch better. She really is the real deal. So down to earth and so passionate about what she does. She also helped me navigate the nightmare of my HMO insurance coverage issue and i'll forever be grateful to her. It's because of her that i am still here breastfeeding 2 years later (baby just had second birthday) and i will always encourage my friends to see an IBCLC - especially Nikki if they are in the area. Thank you for everything Nikki you are a treasure to us mamas and babies. PS - i'll never forget the toys and clothes you gave me my baby Emilia wears all of them! I'd go back and visit you but i'm in Columbus, OH now. read more

Nikki saved my breastfeeding journey. As a first time mom there was a lot I wasn't sure about less than two weeks postnatal and I was having a very difficult time. I am so grateful for Nikki! Without her, I wouldn't have been able to breastfeed my son for 13 months. I was 6 weeks postpartum and really struggling with breastfeeding. Almost gave up on it completely. Sent a desperate 3am email to Nikki and saw her that same week. Our appointments were always encouraging, so insightful, and extremely time effective. She was able to help me get my son back to his birth weight, and beyond. I received traveling tips, pumping tips, going back to work tips and I am so appreciative of her help. If you are struggling or having doubts, I promise there is light at the end of the tunnel and Nikki can help you get there! read more

Nikki is soooo wonderful and knows her stuff! she walked me through everything i needed to know about latching, pumping, tongue ties, you name it she knew it and offered different options to suit our needs. i appreciated that she changed course if something wasn't working for me. she also knows the majority of local pediatricians and children ent/ dentists and they know her as well (and all spoke so highly of her!). bonus: she deeply cares and is just an awesome person. read more

Nikki is the best! I was having some challenges with my sons feeding and was feeling really defeated and ignorant. But she made me feel safe, heard, and understood. She listened to my concerns with compassion and kindness. She is approachable and down to earth which is refreshing given that many providers can have terrible bedside manner that leaves you feeling disrespected. I look forward to all of my appointments with her. After each session, she texts you a summary of notes from the visit and "homework" for your personalized care plan which is super helpful! read more

I am so grateful to have found Nikki in my daughters first week of life. I was really struggling to breastfeed which was giving me a ton of anxiety. I worked with the lactation consultants at the hospital but was never able to successfully establish a latch and my baby was losing so much weight that I was getting recommendations from the pediatrician to just formula feed her which caused me all kinds of depression. I reached out to Nikki and she was able to squeeze me in for a next day appointment and successfully get my baby to latch and actually stay latched! Our appointments always flew by, from learning exactly how to latch my baby, how to use breastfeeding pillows accurately, and mostly how to get comfortable enough to nurse without needing any pillows or support. With Nikki's help I was able to get my baby back to her birth weight and now 3 months later she's a Michelin baby. Nikki also taught me how to use my spectra pump correctly and find the right flange size for utmost comfort and to get the most milk from the least amount of pump time. I was also prone to getting milk blebs which Nikki had a solution for as well. Nikki is just a lactation goddess and has an answer to everything you can throw at her. I highly recommend working with her if you need any help with lactation. She's the best! read more

Nikki was so extremely helpful and I am beyond grateful for her. She always had a solution to a problem that came up during my breastfeeding journey. She is knowledgeable, sweet and easy going. I'm so happy I was able to connect with her. I would recommend her to anyone! read more

There are not enough words to describe how incredible Nikki is. She has helped my baby and I tremendously by getting us back on the right track after my baby had lost a lot of weight due to not being able to latch properly. He had a tongue tie, which she helped get us the proper treatment. Because of an improper latch and poor guidance from the lactation consultant at the hospital, my nipples were not in good shape with a lot of deep cracks that were too painful and deep to continue feeding my baby. I thought it would never be possible to breastfeed again but she encouraged me that it would still be possible. She came up with a plan to heal them properly and a solution to feed in the meantime. She really goes above and beyond to get you the support you need so you can have the most successful outcome. I feel beyond lucky to have found her and have her help on our breastfeeding journey. I cannot recommend Nikki enough. read more

I can't thank Nikki enough for the support she gave me through a challenging period. She answered all my questions, showed me exactly how to do certain holds, and reassured me throughout. Everything changed for me when I met with Nikki. I wish I worked with her sooner ! I had gone through 4 LCs and none could figure out what was going on with me, Nikki solved all my problems in one session. Ah Nikki...my personal breastfeeding sherpa Having her in my corner during both of my postpartum times was essential in surviving the infant stage. She helped me navigate ALL of the challenges (clogs, managing supply, latch, holds, sons' tongue/lip ties, pumping, weaning, maintaining sanity..) Whatever BF goals I had, she always had a plan for us to get there. Plus, she's just a really great person to chat with...always a breath of fresh air while I was in sleep deprivation/no adult interaction mode. Practically speaking, I especially loved that she could do home visits when my body was recovering (although her office is nice too). Thanks for always being a text away Nikki!! read more

I really can't rave enough about Nikki. When my baby was born, I thought nursing would just happen... that babies know what to do and my body would too. It did not go smoothly for me. My child had difficulty latching so I spent their first month of life solely pumping. I was missing the bonding and biofeedback that transpires through nursing directly. My pediatrician recommended Nikki and within one visit, my child latched. It took me a few visits to replicate, and some ongoing work to get where I wanted to be. Nikki helped me keep my milk up during this time by putting me on a program. She is extremely knowledgeable about / great with babies in general and helped us well beyond our breastfeeding journey with her valuable advice. I don't think without her I would have ever been able to experience the joy and bond of breastfeeding. I'm so grateful! I'd also like to say that right off the bat, Nikki worked with my insurance and everything was covered. I'd wholeheartedly recommend her to any new moms. read more

Breastfeeding was a dream of mine. I thought that would be the easiest part of being a mama- that it would come natural and intuitively. Fast forward to a week postpartum... my nipples cracked, the baby feeding every hour, no sleep and breastfeeding that was feeling extremely painful and unnatural. Me just wanting to embrace my baby girl and feed her. Simple right? Wrong! Breastfeeding almost broke me. I don't give up on my dreams, but this was the closest I had been to giving up. Thankfully my midwife referred me to Nikki. Nikki is a light in this world. Not only is she supportive and helpful, she is a wealth of knowledge and resources. She shows you how to do things so that you CAN do them on your own. Her energy motivated me to go on. She believed in me and gave me all the tools for success. Seeing her every week was the highlight of a new mama struggling and trying to find my way and rhythm. When I was in her office I feel like there was hope. and guess what, there was! My baby is now 7 months and I am still breastfeeding and collecting 3 oz a day of extra letdown. My baby had a tongue tie, lip tie, refused a bottle and pacifier and was on my boob for extended periods of time. And yet, somehow the pain subsided and my breast and baby worked together in sycrinicity and now breastfeeding relaxes me. It calms me, makes me present and connects me to my baby. Nikki went above and beyond to get me to this point. She answered all my text, met my husband half way to get me a flange i needed, taught me about nipple shields, pumps, hand expressing. She send me videos, provided links, did hands on training with me and my baby. But more than anything, she was a mama supporting and guiding another mama. I am forever thankful for her. There are no words to describe my gratitude. Thank you Nikki, you kept my dream alive and baby girl and me are thriving read more

Nikki was amazing and would highly recommend her to anyone needing a lactation consultant. I truly knew nothing about breastfeeding and she not only educated me through her sessions but also made herself available by phone/text for any additional support I needed. I know I would not have breastfed my son for as long as I did without her guidance. She also helped me through the lip and tongue ties my son had and referred me to a great pediatric dentist who specialized in frenectomy procedures. As a first time mom, she helped me through the very early and rough postpartum period. I always looked forward to our sessions. I cannot thank her enough for everything she did for me and my son! read more

Nikki is AMAZING! She helped me to be best prepared for success as a first time BF momma. I had no idea what my BF journey would look like, or for how long I'd be able to go, but here I am 6 mos in and my baby is thriving! She is such a kind and sweet person, and FUNNY too! She helped me and my baby girl work together to get the best latch and the best positioning to help us both. She also is so very supportive and understanding of how each baby is so unique and different. My little one was tongue tied and lip tied and once we got that released things progressively got better with feedings. She even sat with me as I struggled with PPD AND PPA and caring for a very fussy little one, and assured me that I wasn't alone and that it would get better. She felt more like a friend, and confidant in many ways. And when my daughters pediatrician told me that my baby wasn't gaining weight and that I needed to supplement with formula, I felt defeated and disappointed that my BF journey may be done, but I immediately reached out to Nikki and we got to work and put together a plan to "fatten her up", and within 2 weeks we were back on track and her weight was up. She always shares helpful tips and tricks for BF , parenting, feeding, toys, etc. something I absolutely needed as I am a older momma, for the first time, and without friends with kids similar in age. I am so happy I listened to all my friends and family and sought the help of a lactation consultant to help me out. I highly recommend Nikki, you won't be disappointed! read more

Nikki is my savior! I am a first time mom and my sister set me up with Nikki before I gave birth. I thought breastfeeding would be a walk in the park, boy was I more than wrong. My baby boy had to go straight to the NICU and was given a bottle of formula right away and I didn't even get to attempt to latch him until day 2 of life. Due to this, he struggled with wanting to latch because all he knew was the bottle. On top of that he was severely tongue tied. I pretty much only bottles fed for the first 6 weeks. Nikki helped set up us with an ENT to get the tongue released and worked with us every single week to get him to latch! I wanted to give up so many times and Nikki was more than encouraging and truly is the only reason I didn't give up. It took about 7 weeks but we finally were latching full time and it was the best feeling. We finally "graduated" from her after 10 weeks and I actually am kind of sad that we don't get to see her weekly anymore. I can't thank her enough and I will encourage every FTM or even an experienced mom to see Nikki. We love you Nikki! read more

I cannot say enough good things about Nikki! She is the owner and IBCLC and most importantly a mama! It started when my first baby was born. I was told in the hospital that I had such a great supply and that baby was going a great job but I was in so much pain and my baby was crying while feeding. I had another lactation consultant company come out, and while she helped me it still felt like something wasn't right. I contacted Nikki a couple months later and she came out that same week and diagnosed my baby with a short tongue tie and advised me to get it cut. Even two pediatricians missed it when I asked. We went to an ENT and she spotted it instantly. After the procedure baby was feeding much more easily and gaining weight quickly. Then came my second baby, I knew from the get go I'd have Nikki come out right away. Even though I BF for a year last time, I needed help getting the latch right. Again she came to my house and I felt super comfortable with her instantly again. She assessed the baby And our feedings and even helped me with pumping technique too. I am so glad I found her. read more

Nikki, the owner, is an amazing lactation consultant. Today is Thanksgiving, and I have made it a point to take time out of my busy family filled day to show my gratitude. I am first and foremost thankful for my beautiful daughter but I remember how nervous I was after bringing her home from the hospital. I was frantic and in pain. I thought I was doing everything wrong. I had no way of knowing if I was giving my daughter the nourishment she needed. So, I asked for lactation consultant recommendations from my daughter's pediatrician and contacted Nikki. Right away she was able to put me at ease and help me with my concerns. She was incredibly kind and knowledgeable. I would text her in the middle of the night and would get a response at an equally odd time because she is a mother herself going through the same midnight wakings. Her dedication to her family and her clients is outstanding. I highly recommend her services. This year and for the rest of my life I will be thankful for meeting her. read more

I wish there was an option for 1,000 stars! Nikki hands down saved my breastfeeding journey. She was at my house the very next day after I delivered and put us on a strict plan to save my milk after my baby was having difficulty latching due to a tongue and lip tie. She was so much more knowledgable than our pediatrician and guided us through the entire challenging process of a revision for him. Besides latching, Nikki has helped me with countless other things.... Showing me how to do tummy time, sending me an amazon list of developmental toys, referring me to local therapists for PPD and PPA, and linking me with a fellow mom who also had a fussy baby so I could have some support. ( just to name a few examples) She is such an expert and an all around amazing person, and I'm so sad for when the day comes that we won't need to see her anymore! read more

Where do I begin, I had a really difficult time with breastfeeding my first and ended up exclusively pumping. So with my second I really wanted to be prepared and have every tool in my toolbox to give breastfeeding another try. Enter Nikki, and wow what an amazing experience our family had. I met with Nikki prior to giving birth, she answered all my questions and we set out a game plan and foundation to start with. After I delivered Nikki made home visits, quickly diagnosed my daughter lip and tongue tie, recommended the best dentist to go to. Provided tangible, effective techniques so I could get a better, deeper latch. As well as trouble shoot with a sleepy baby to get her weight up so she could thrive and have more energy to nurse. Which she did gain weight, and we learned together how to breastfeed. Aside from the fact that Nikki is an amazing IBCLC, she also becomes your best mom pal and really supports you through the process! read more

Since birth, my baby had trouble latching. Maybe it was due to his tongue tie. Maybe it was due to me being a first time mom and not knowing what to do. Regardless of what it was, I needed help. After being discharged from the hospital, I turned to a lactation consultant. No progress was made, even after three weeks of working with her. With hopes of breastfeeding still alive, I decided to switch lactation consultants. That's when I found Nikki. I instantly had a connection with her. At our first visit, she got my baby to latch; something that hadn't happened in weeks! That gave me hope. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to build upon that initial success. At our second visit, I was in tears and was ready to throw in the towel. Thankfully, Nikki talked me out of it. She encouraged me to practice what she had taught me and to not give up because results would come. Ever since that day in her office, my baby has continually breastfed. It was like a light switch was turned on. So for you mamas out there who are struggling to breastfeed you baby, don't give up! Brush off your tears and trust in Nikki. She also gave me advice on how to lower my milk supply which I thought wasn't possible. No more painful engorged breasts! My baby and I are so happy. Thank you Nikki! We will forever be thankful for your help and encouragement. read more

Cannot recommend Nikki enough! She can either come to your house or you can go to her office (which is also very comfortable). She's incredibly knowledgeable, super sweet, and I'm sooo so happy we found her. My son had trouble latching so my midwife referred us to Nikki. It was Nikki who discovered he had a lip and tongue tie and she recommended us to a fantastic dentist who took great care of us. After that we were still using the shield for a bit but with Nikki's help we got better and better and eventually dropped the shield. Yay! She was so encouraging, even when I felt frustrated or like we were never going to get it but she kept reassuring me we were headed in the right direction. 9 months later we're still breastfeeding and loving it! I've recommended her to so many people and I also just love her as a person. After meeting her once I recommended her to my sister whose little one was almost 3 months old at the time and still not feeding well. My sister wasn't sure if it was too late since her babe was already 3 months old but sure enough Nikki saved the day there too :) You can text her at any time, even about other random things unrelated to breastfeeding and she will give you her honest opinion without judgment. Truly amazing! Go see her, you won't regret it mama! read more

I reached out to Nikki for breastfeeding and lactation support almost a week after I had my baby. I was overwhelmed, scared, and I felt so defeated. I had 3 in home sessions with Nikki. She was proactive and flexible. She was sensitive to where I was at and provided emotional support. She presented all the options and information about breastfeeding and pumping along with pros and cons. She wasn't pushy or judgmental but prioritized collaborating with me to establish a clear goal. She supported my wishes and helped me implement a clear plan. She always followed up and kept track of how I was doing physically and emotionally. She was germ conscious with hand washing and masks/gloves and sanitizing which was very important to me especially during a pandemic. I can't say enough good things about how supportive, dedicated, and knowledgeable she was. Thank you Nikki! read more

I have breastfed 2 babies before and Nikki was referred to me by a friend while I was pregnant with my 3rd. I almost didn't reach out to her (because I figured I knew "enough") but thought, why not give it a shot? I am so thankful that I did! I thought breastfeeding was just *supposed to hurt for the first few weeks, you're *supposed to get cracked nipples, you're *supposed to go through multiple containers of nipple butter, you're *supposed to wince in pain every time your baby latches on, etc...Nikki showed me that is not the case! I had a consultation with her prior to having my baby and she is so easy to talk to, made me feel very comfortable, was not pushy about anything, and really made me feel so much more confident before delivery. After our baby was born, we learned she had a tongue tie which we don't have experience with. Nikki referred me to an amazing doctor, helped us through the healing process and new latch afterward, and has been there for our family for a few scares as well! I called her late at night in a panic and she talked me off the ledge plus helped me understand what was happening. She is so knowledgeable, humble, kind, understanding, I can go on and on. She was truly a key part in our breastfeeding success. Thank you Nikki! read more

Nikki Brown-Barton was a life saver for me and my daughter in our breastfeeding journey. I am a second time breastfeeding mom and thought I knew what I was doing from the beginning , but boy was I wrong. There was a lot more going on with my second baby such as a tongue tie, damaged nipples, extreme pain, anxiety, and mastitis that I had not experienced before. Nikki supported me through it all and was always available to answer any questions. She always took her time at our appointments, provided thorough summary notes and links for me to reference back to, and checked in often. I 100% recommend Nikki to all breastfeeding moms out there. Lactation consultants are not always referred to or talked about, but I believe it's such an important part of the postpartum process in order to ensure the momma feels supported, educated and confident in their breastfeeding journey. The best part of it all was that after consistent support and care from Nikki, my daughter and I were able to exclusively breastfeed. read more
