I suggest purchasing your food on the earlier side as the last part of the barbacoa can be a bit on the fattier side. A large package of tortillas runs $3.00 while the barbacoa is ~$17/lb. What I like about the barbacoa vs other places is that the meat is nicely marbled, with very little fat and good seasoning!

An Exceptional Dining Experience That Feels Like Escaping Houston…read moreFrom the moment I arrived at BCM Taste & Tradition, I knew this was going to be a different kind of dining experience. I originally noticed that Houston Restaurant Week reservations were completely booked through September, but I decided to stop by around opening to see if there was any availability. Thankfully, the hostess was incredibly gracious and accommodating and was able to fit me in before the restaurant became fully booked. I genuinely appreciated the hospitality because it gave me the opportunity to experience what turned out to be one of the most memorable dining experiences I've had in Houston. The food was exceptional. I tried the ink rice with shrimp, which was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. The dessert was equally impressive--honestly, to die for. It was the kind of meal where every course feels intentional and thoughtfully executed. The service deserves its own recognition. Javair at the bar was phenomenal--professional, attentive, and personable without ever being intrusive. We had some great conversation, and he even shared some fascinating details about the artwork throughout the restaurant. Learning that some of the pieces displayed were original Picassos was an incredible surprise and added another layer of sophistication to the experience. And then there's the ambiance. BCM Taste & Tradition genuinely feels like stepping outside of Houston without ever leaving the city. The interior, artwork, music, and overall atmosphere create something incredibly refined and intimate. The live music was especially beautiful--calm, serene, and perfectly suited to the setting. It created an atmosphere where you could actually slow down, enjoy your surroundings, and be present in the moment. This is more than just a restaurant. It feels like an experience curated around food, art, music, and hospitality. From the gracious hostess to the exceptional service, memorable food, stunning artwork, and serene atmosphere, BCM Taste & Tradition absolutely earned every one of these five stars. I highly recommend experiencing it for yourself. This is the kind of place you remember long after the meal is over.

The bar is the first thing you see when you walk in. We got sat right away so I didn't get to see much of the place but you couldn't really walk around if you wanted to anyways. The ambience at the bar was nice and the staff were great. I did think there would be more decor around but I would describe the vibe as simple and modern. An improvement could be to have purse hooks. We were immediately given the HRW menu (which we were intentionally there for) but we weren't given a regular menu to see what food they offered normally which I was hoping to see. The menu I would say was well rounded with options to upgrade. They also gave us a slice of bread with oil and salt. I ordered the shrimp for my first course which was an upgrade. I will say this was the most bang for my buck. The serving came with a good helping of shrimp. My friend ordered the patatas bravas. Both orders tasted nice but I think I was hoping for something more with the potatoes. They also gave us the croquetas which were really yummy. My second course was the filet mignon. The steak was cooked to my liking and I felt was a decent serving size. It came with snap peas, pearl onions, and mashed potatoes. My friend got the duck. This was cooked well and was really tasty but there wasn't much with it besides the sauce. Final course was dessert. We got the lemon tart and the sponge cake. The lemon tart was probably the best thing I ate that night. The custard and the fruit really complement each other. The sponge cake was interesting since it was hollow inside with the cream being most of the dessert, it was good. They also gave us some dessert wine which was nice. Overall everything was really good and had no complaints but I do think because of how much people talk about this place and it being a Michelin star restaurant I was expecting to be blown away. My takeaway is that it was a good experience but probably just a one time thing.

All week during my conference, Shaye was working hard at the Starbucks, delivering great service, tasty coffees and navigating a broken expression machine ... and all with a smile! On my last day I got to chat with her more since things calmed down and despite (what looked like), a crazy week, she still had a smile on and was so nice. The whole staff was honestly amazing, Jennifer served my team and I during a VERY busy lunch rush and she navigated a 150+ crowd with ease. Abigail was running food out and had a bubbly personality and Rachel was also hustling hard during the height of a busy crowd! I really appreciated the whole staff here. As far as the food, I got a bagel with cream cheese everyday and it was perfect for a quick bite. My last day I treated myself to an omelette and it was a great finish. For lunch at Blake's I tried the chicken nachos and they were good as well. This place was always packed and the staff was consistently friendly and efficient while I stayed here! The overall vibe was chic and clean. I didn't get to try the buffet while I was here, but I did see several people enjoying it! Thank you!

Our server was not friendly and she seemed to be annoyed we were seated in her section. We ordered the shrimp kisses, which were yummy and had a unique variety of flavors. I then ordered the fish tacos. I was really disappointed. They were presented pretty but all three had a slab of tasteless, dry, very bland, white fish in them. I didn't understand this because the menu described the fish tacos as blackened and so flavorful, but they seemed to have no seasoning at all. Luckily, my husband ordered the Blackened Seafood Pot Pie, which although could have been spicier, he enjoyed it very much.

We pulled up into the MFA parking lot and came across this beautiful truck. Colorful, eccentric, and best of all CLEAN. We walked up and took a look at their menu. Tostadas, burritos, quesadillas, and tacos, and all looking heavenly. They had plenty of meat choices too, such as chicken, beef, and even carnitas! We grabbed an order of their chicken tacos (all entrees served with beans and rice), and we were AMAZED. The food came out quick and perfectly hot. The chicken was flavorful, juicy, and their toppings were so good! Our corn tortillas tasted fresh and the taco just melted in your mouth. Not only was the service quick and the tacos delicious, but the owner was SO incredibly nice. We spoke to him and his mother (who helped run the truck) and we were just in love with their kind, gentle personalities! We are obviously getting them to cater our wedding and do an updated review on their catering services. Since they are a food truck, they're not always in the same location. Just give them a call/text on the YELP phone number provided and they will tell you their location schedule, so you can hunt those tacos down!
