Hervey, Hervey, Hervey...where would I be without you? Probably still in that same, horrid splint they put on me in the ER when I fractured my elbow back in May. And it's a good thing I'm not. Because that thing was hella itchy, and no matter how hard I tried to shove pens/forks/swords down it to relieve myself of the intense itching, nothing worked.
You saw me in a hospital gown, hairnet, and those horrid socks they made me wear. You saw me in surgery when I woke up crying. You put a metal plate and pins in my elbow to attach a chunk of bone and mend a torn ligament. You are my elbow hero.
As much as I'm thankful that my elbow has fully recovered, I miss our time together. I miss you winking at me when you would say hello to me in the waiting room. I miss you laughing at my stupid elbow jokes. I miss you calling me a superstar.
Sometimes I think about breaking my left elbow, or a hand, just so that I could see you again. And really, would that be so wrong? read more
