In Spring 2025, system stopped working. Shumate tech informed me that the 6 y/o heating coil that…read moreTHEY installed was leaking coolant. There was none left. Put in 5 pounds of coolant, charged me $900. Two days later, that coolant had leaked out, too. (What did the tech THINK would happen?!) Needed to order materials to replace heating coil, should arrive early next week, then the week after, then the week after that. Meanwhile, I have no HVAC at all. Called another company, and was up and running in 2 days. Avoid. Avoid. AVOID.

Something's amiss, and I got that sinking feeling, fearful that my AC was also sinking. Time to call Shumate and find out. I was referred to the nicest young man who patiently took me through the troubleshooting step by step, including, "Is your Humidifier turned on?" So sure I was that it was not, I said, "No, but please hold while I make sure." Oops! "Sir, it was ON." I corrected it, and immediately noticed the comfort level was already changing. I thanked him. My point in sharing my story is that a lesser person or a lesser company might have said, "Ma'am, sounds like you need a new compressor," or something similarly catastrophic. This employee was honest, and his integrity reflected well not only on him but also on SHUMATE. I forgot to ask for his name, but please check your records -- it was close to 5:00 PM today, June 27. And please tell Ms. Shumate for me that I am grateful to him and Shumate for having principles valuing honesty. Your loyal customer, Margaret E. Roney ("Peggy") PS: Please give my regards to Mr. Jim Bridges, another fine employee.

R Tillery was a pleasant surprise! I had been getting the runaround from a warranty company who…read moresent an incompetent vendor out to fix our A/C repairs recently. I made an appointment on a Friday through my warranty company and the service vendor they assigned couldn't come until the following Tuesday. August in Georgia is no joke. The vendor ended up not fixing anything on Tuesday, but added 2lbs of freon and left. No inspection, didn't check the furnace, didn't come in to check the vents, nothing. So on Wednesday, once the A/C went out again I followed up and made an another appointment, this time we were set for for Friday. The second tech the vendor sent tested the freon and saw that it was empty even though they had just added 2lbs 3 days ago. So the second tech did some test and started packing up. I asked what time he'd come back so that I could be home and he indicated the test takes 48-72 hours to determine where the leak is. I'm not a HVAC professional, but that sounded odd. Once the second tech left without attempting to fix anything, I started calling around and found R Tilery's website. I called to see if I could make an appointment and Ray himself picked up and said he could come later that afternoon. Wow, same day service, what a novel idea. You'd think if I told the vendor my warranty company used that other company's can make same day appointments it would make their heads explode. Ray showed up a few hours later, took the A/C unit apart quickly and inspected the inside and found oil in the bottom of the unit indicating a leak. He tested some gas in the line and we could hear the gas leaking from the unit. So it took Ray all of 15 minutes to do what two different techs could not do in two separate visits. Ray was great, I should have called him first. Don't be like me, call ray first. We will be calling him again if we are ever in need. Thanks Ray!

Want to recommend Vu at Smart Comfort Heating and Air…read more I've tried a few companies for HVAC issues and decided to try Vu after some positive reviews on Google, and I'm glad I did. Keeping your HVAC in good condition is better than dealing with issues that usually end up as emergency situations. I contacted Vu to find out if they offer maintenance programs and to find the cost. Price was reasonable so had him come out. Communication was clear, he informed me when he was on his way, and he was punctual. His did a thorough evaluation (since it was the first time he was seeing the system) and provided some recommendation. He wasn't pushy or seem like he was wanting to make a quick buck. He's now come out for 2 visits and one when I blew a capacitor (that I didn't change when he recommended me to). Moral of the story, keep your system in tip top shape, review the recommendations and ask for a reasoning. Vu did that and I understand the things he's charged me for. I feel my system is in a better condition now than a year before. He so installs new systems and thermostats. I have already recommend Vu to a few friends. A+
