I didn't know Kilwins had a location in Port Jeff. We usually get it in Sarasota FL, our favorite place until the hurricane hit last year. Hope it's still operational. This one has less in every selection. The one in FL has more flavors and categories. The concept is the same, of course. When we visited the store, the chocolate maker wasn't present, but there was a place for them to prepare some chocolate. The service was the same, good and happy. A cute store with sweet flavors! This recipe caramel was developed by Don Kilwin and is still cooked today in traditional copper kettles. Do you like Nut brittles and crazy popcorns? Their hand crafted Corns and Brittles are also made fresh in traditional copper kettles. Their signature Nutcracker Sweets are made with combining popped corn, almonds, pecans, and caramel. Mmmmm mm! Excellent ice cream. Prices are stupid ridiculous $$$ but I wouldn't mind that if the staff didn't have such bad attitudes. I've only been there twice but the bad energy both times was likely why the place is usually empty. We were actually joking about it later. I saw a woman ask one of them a question and the girl behind the counter reacted like she asked her to build a house. I figured they must be related to the owner, no one is that bad (they are that bad). If business here isn't booming like you want and your bottom line isn't looking so good, just hire nicer people. Kilwins is a chain that feels like a local mom & pop candy store, this one located right on the main strip across from the water in Port Jeff. When you walk in, you'll often find someone working on handmade taffy or some other tasty morsel, and I've been offered free samples on more than one occasion. They have a large selection of ice cream and beautiful chocolates. I'm also a big fudge fan and have tried the classics and unique flavors (turtle and mud fudge are my favorites). Have never been disappointed! Only downside is that sometimes in the summer lines can be quite long- but they move fast and I do believe these lines speak to their quality treats! read more

Very beautiful location with all of the Kilwins staples around the space. It is far more spacious that most of the other spaces but I guess when you ate not positioned directly on the boardwalk or in a shopping mall, it gets way better. There is another confectionary in the area that brings in alot of business with their ostentatious displays and prime location but i assure you, this is where you would rather be. I always have a caramel apple with peanuts from here and of course it was delicious, but the packaging was fancy too! You would expect pretentious employees but they were the nicest people ever. First time here and such a cute shop that makes chocolate and fudge! The perfect combination for a sweet tooth. They offer samples of ice cream which is the first I've seen since covid, which was nice. The young man behind the counter was polite but never smiled. A smile goes a long way for customer service. Now let's get to the ice cream. Tried the Georgia peach which was delicious, creamy and smooth with real chunks of peaches. Would definitely get again. I also got marsh mallow smore in a waffle cup and this was just as equally yummy! Honestly, I always had good things to say about kilwins. Today I left extremely disappointed. I took my parents out for ice cream and they both ordered 2 scoops in waffle dishes. I'm upset I didn't notice until after I left but this has to be a joke. I literally paid $16 for what this girl thinks is 2 scoops. Not sure what her name is but she was actually kind of rude and acted like she was annoyed that we were getting ice cream. Not sure if my mom asking to sample a flavor pissed her off for some reason. I mean I get because of COVID, they may have new rules, but I don't understand why that would upset someone. Seriously a joke, my parents are super disappointed. Guess I probably won't be coming back here. It does suck because whenever I have family and friends in the area I always bring them here or I refer people to try some of the great products. Where do i even begin? Wooooww! everything we got here was so scrumptious. Carmel popcorn! omg!!! Fudge... probably the best we've ever had! Super friendly staff which created a great first impression for me! Immediately I was greeted and asked to try some fudge samples, my favorite was probably the salted caramel. Now onto the ice cream, it was phenomenal! My dad got a cone with 2 scoops and it was quite large. They let us try a bunch of flavors before we finally decided on one to purchase. I want to start of by saying that this ice cream is kind of pricey ($5 a single scoop) in comparison to the other ice cream places nearby. BUT they can justify their price because their ice cream is nothing like you've ever had before. The first time I came here, the worker recommended me and my friends to try the apple pie ice cream. I kid you not, after we all tried it, every single one of us ended up getting the apple pie scoop. I'm not sure if that flavor was seasonal but it actually has chunks of apple pie (AND CRUST) in the ice cream. It tastes like they put an entire apple pie and blended it with cream to make the ice cream. I also had a sample of their pumpkin pie and it tasted exactly like pumpkin pie as well. I don't know how they do it but their flavors taste exactly what you would expect the original food to taste like which is pretty amazing. I hope next time I go back they still have the apple pie ice cream because I can't get enough of it. (If you like a specific flavor you can get a full tub if you ask them to scoop it out for you. This is a great candy & ice cream shop with wonderful fudge, made right in the store. By sheer luck we found this store on it's opening day. As soon as we walked in, someone greeted us and asked if we wanted to sample some fudge. Like a moth to a flame, I ran over to the fudge counter, choosing a flavor to try. This was some of the best fudge I ever had. We also tried some ice cream which was very good. And while standing around eating our ice cream, we were offered some new fudge they had just made minutes before (we watched them working it on a big marble slab). There isn't anything not to like about Kilwins, and it's been a while since I was at their Patchogue location. What struck me most on this outing was the prices of their confections. Maybe rent in Port Jeff is 15% higher than other places but I found their prices about 50% higher on items like Bear Claws and chocolate/nut clusters. My wife loves their ice cream and they do have good chocolate creations, but, I just can't get over the price discrepancy. Maybe I'll be back, but maybe not. I can get chocolate just as good much closer to home, and I won't need a payment plan. read more

I was back home for a visit and was able to go to one of my favorite spots, Port Jefferson. We love to walk the little and big shops that they have. We went Into Kilwins as we do every time we are home. We love to look at all the different treats that they have especially the fudge. They have many different flavors that are to die for. I just love this place! It is always cheerful and beautiful to walk in. We never miss an opportunity to stop in when we are in Port Jeff. Recently we took it to another level and ordered a variety of sweets as favors for family events. We started with small boxed chocolates and candy apples as favors and have since expanded to custom boxed assortments as raffle prizes and chocolate covered marsh mellow platters on guest tables to compliment other desserts. For a relatively new location, Kilwins is already super well put together. The store is clean and always smells heavenly when you enter, also the location is great, located in a heavily frequented spot of Port Jeff and there is a parking lot right behind it! As for the staff, everyone working here is super friendly and helpful! They also currently have samples of all the fudge, which is an added plus. (Also the fudge is homemade by the staff so you know it's fresh and quality). I've come here so often since they've opened that I've tried samples of most of the ice cream flavors and I've never had anything I didn't like. My favorite is the salted caramel, but each flavor is super creamy and rich and well worth the money paid for it. Not to mention the waffle cones are warm and fresh. I've come here so many times before and will continue doing so, Kilwins was the perfect new addition that Port Jeff needed. read more

If people are in their right mind and want a sweet in this lovely area of Port Jeff, they know to avoid Roger's Frigate. My friends and I always choose Kilwin's! All the homemade fudge flavors are incredible in their own way, and there's enough of a variety to match whatever chocolate mood you're craving (the raspberry is my favorite.) They're all creamy and flavorful, but so rich and decadent you'll have leftovers! The chocolate boxes always make nice gifts, each time I give them out I get good feedback! As friends if mine know I'm a huge chocolate person, but the one dessert I love more is the hard-to-find salted caramel, hence me getting the best ice cream cake of my life here! Poured as liquid onto a marble slab and worked with giant paddles until the fudge reaches the right creamy consistency, it's then shaped into logs the size of railroad ties. When you buy fudge, they pack it with a mini-knife to cut it. I'm not a big fudge fan, but Kilwin's version of sea salt caramel is superb. Everything looks pristine-clean and neat. They offer ice cream by the scoop or cone, pre-packed, and ice cream cakes. The flavor we tried (Mud) was gooood with a nice contrast of smooth cream base and almost-bitter chocolate pieces. You can order by the piece, by the pound, or grab some pre-packed candies from their display counters. There are chocolate-covered Twinkies. I think I'm a little dizzy now. read more

Visited Kilwins Port Jeff last evening for a breast cancer event on behalf of Mather Hospital. What a wonderful experience made that way because of the family who runs Kilwins: Christine & Brian Viscount. They made us feel like we were part of their family from the minute we arrived until we left. Everyone had samples galore of their delicious candies and everyone went home with a half pound of the yummy creamy fudge made right in front of our eyes.
