No fish at 5:00 on a weekday

Somewhat ridiculous prices and a rather pitiful vegetable selection. You want fresh organic string beans? Not gonna find em here. They have 2 options for string beans and they both come in prepackaged plastic bags and are ALWAYS about 4 days away from expiring and look limp and brownish. And one of the two options isn't even organic. The broccoli heads are almost always discolored and yellow. Be sure to check them rigorously for bugs. Yeah I had the misfortune of getting an infested bunch there before. (On the plus side guess that means it really is pesticide free?) Stop and Shop has nearly as many organic options for a much fairer price. Organic strawberries at Wild By Nature for $15 or organic strawberries at Stop and Shop for $7? Hmmm. And if you want to return something they need to see your license and have you sign a form. Lol ok. As for positives? The place smells real nostalgic- just like it did in the 90's. Walk in and take a deep breath and it instantly brings back memories of coming in here as a kid. And the gentlemen who runs seafood department is quite friendly (When they have fish).

Very expensive produce - $14 for a 16 oz box organic strawberries?! That's daylight robbery. Total rip-off.

However, the premium quality comes with an equally premium price tag, a reality that has persisted, and perhaps even intensified, since its acquisition by Amazon. For the savvy shopper, there are still ways to navigate the costs. Keen attention to pricing, coupled with strategic use of Amazon Prime discounts and in-store sales, can help balance the ledger. Ultimately, the store's unique draw lies in its exclusive selection; there are certain specialty items you simply won't find anywhere else, making it a necessary stop for certain needs. Our family has found a practical rhythm: we always begin our shopping at the Trader Joe's across the street. After surveying their selection and prices, we then visit Whole Foods for those few, special items we can't get elsewhere. This approach makes the added effort, and expense, feel worthwhile. Despite the undeniable cost, shopping at the Lake Grove location remains a valuable way to support and enrich a healthy lifestyle, especially for those living on Long Island's East End. It's a curated experience, one where careful planning can turn a luxury stop into a sustainable part of your routine.

Listen, if you're a Long Islander and you keep your eyes peeled when driving around places, then…read moreyou might've noticed that Redefine Meals locations are popping up everywhere. Apparently their meal prep situation is pretty legit, but I wouldn't know because I haven't tried that. What I did try is the one and only (because there's only one!) Redefine Eatery, and boy was it pretty tasty. You see my wife and I were looking for some dinner this evening and so we decided why not try the new Redefine Eatery which features a bowl-type assembly line setup (a la Chipotle) as well as the wild card: brick oven pizzas. Let's backtrack a moment and just mention that the interior of RE is small but clean and cute. A few tables and countertops, some tiny plants, and the vibe that the food here is fresh and genuine. All those positive words can go into the staffing as well who were mostly friendly and helpful with explaining the menu and bowl process. A good start to the experience. Things continued in a positive direction after we chose one of their chef-curated bowls (BBQ) and a brick oven vodka sauce pizza to-go. The pizza was made from scratch and cooks pretty quick, though we had a few minutes to hang around while we waited, so I snapped some pics, looked in the fridges which held drinks and a few of those Redefine pre-made meals, and checked out the variety of bowl ingredients displayed along that assembly line. Before we knew it, the pizza was in our possession and away we went to eat our goods. Back at home we popped the pizza open and found some splendid scents coming from the box as well as a handful of pretty fantastic flavors. The vodka sauce on the pizza was the real deal and though only about 6 slices in size, worth the price ($12.99) for the quality. As for the BBQ bowl, it also had great tastes coming from the marinated chicken, pickled red onions/jalapeños, cilantro lime rice, and BBQ sauce. Say it with me: quality. Now I'm hesitant to necessarily jump into five star land at this point (though it could easily get there) as there are a few small things I'm curious about going forward. One piece is a toughie as its location. Redefine is at what many call a "cursed corner" as the five roads of traffic make it a little difficult to enter the lot, and it definitely makes things troublesome upon exiting. I'll move this one aside if everything written above keeps being great. Though another interesting item is that pizza which is only available in two types (the aforementioned vodka sauce, and a Margherita). Like I said, tastes were entirely there, but I could see this limited pizza selection quickly getting a little monotonous. Time will tell. Overall though, I'll happily give Redefine Eatery four stars with an asterisk of knowing that that fifth star is within reach. How could it not be when an eatery such as this offers a nice setup, friendly staff, and quality grub? Here's hoping any taboo location nonsense gets the voodoo lifted from Redefine's tasty cuisine and the place hangs around long enough to earn those five stars. I wish them luck!

One of the wraps basically turned to a mushy mess. Overall I'm happy with the variety and convenience of getting meals here for a fair price.
