This style of ice cream is called rolled ice cream or Thai stir-fried ice cream (supposedly that's where they came up with this preparation method). My family and I had tried it while visiting Chinatown in Chicago and had been very pleasantly surprised by the flavor of it. So when I found out there was a place just like that in Louisvile, I just had to try it! The process of making this ice cream is explained in other Yelp reviews and there are YouTube videos out there that show the process. This place did not disappoint and the ice-cream was very comparable to the one in Chicago. It's hard to explain what makes it so good, but it just tastes fresh and creamy in a way that's different from regular ice cream. In addition, there are many potential ways to customize it. Just select a base (original = vanilla, matcha = green tea or latte), add whatever flavors you like and then the crew goes to work and the ice-cream is literally made before your eyes. For example, you could do: - original base + fresh strawberries = strawberry ice cream - original base + chocolate syrup = chocolate ice cream, etc. I had the matcha base + banana + graham cracker and liked it a lot. The customization possibilities are almost endless and you can also add up to three toppings per cup. Great place, friendly service, excellent ice cream that is unlike the stuff you get at other places in town. We will definitely be back! PS - if you are in a hurry, don't get this ice cream. It takes a few minutes to make it for each person so some patience is needed. - the stand is in the mall but NOT located near the food court, it's on the opposite end near JC Penney. - the price per cup is about $6,50 which isn't cheap but you get a good amount of ice cream, so I feel it's on par with other good ice cream places .

So my mom swears by rolled ice cream! She had it when she was on vacation in Miami. She was so…read moreexcited to see it here in the middle of the mall. She loves this stuff! I'm dairy free so she is the reviewer here. Fresh fruit on top too. It looked amazing. It is pricey but she said it's so worth it. It's pretty neat to see how they make it. The line was super long and the process takes some time to get your ice cream.

The pecan flavor shined while the smoke was a nice complementary undertone. Waffle cone was not too sweet which I loved. The sorbet was not like other sorbets. This one was less icy and more creamy. Delicious! When we arrived, there was a line out the door and halfway down the block. We walked up anyway and found that the line moved quickly. Service is unmatched! It's a small place with just a few seats inside but the vibe is cool. Loved it!

$7.75 Waffle cone, single scoop…read more I arrived shortly after opening on a Saturday and ordered the Bourbon Smoked Pecan. The bourbon flavor was very pronounced, almost overpowering. I had heard a lot of hype of national recognition so I was expecting every lick to be creamy richness. I can't say that was the experience. This scoop had lots of ice crystals, which made it noticeably less smooth and creamy than good ice cream should be. I was expecting a rich, velvety texture with a balanced bourbon and pecan flavor, but this scoop fell short of those expectations. I'm not sure whether the powerful bourbon flavor was specific to this batch or the texture related to storage, but the ice crystals really detracted from the experience. Overall, this flavor didn't meet my expectations for a gourmet ice cream shop. I would be willing to try another flavor, because like I've said before: any day with ice cream is a good day.
