We LOVE our ice cream on vacation. Anyone who reads my reviews knows this. So when I found this Kilwins close to my hotel in Clearwater, close to the beach, I had dreams of walking the shoreline enjoying my cone. The reality was a mediocre-tasting ice cream that melted before I made it to the end of the block. I'm no ice cream expert, but I have to imagine it's the brand or recipe they use since that wasn't my experience from other ice cream spots we visited. The best waffle cone smelled better than it tasted but still got the job done. At the end of the day, the service was quick and friendly from the teen behind the counter, and it got the job done. Frankly, there are better options, but if you're passing by and need a fix, you won't go wrong with Kilwins but it deserves its 3.6 rating. read more

This spot is on a Main St in Clearwater right by the beach so expect it to be pricey! Line moved quickly and service was friendly. I got the chocolate ice cream in a waffle cone and it was delicious. The location is convenient since it's right off the beach, but unfortunately, the ice cream didn't live up to the price. Service was disappointing -- the person helping us didn't smile or show any friendliness, even when I tried to be polite. She seemed bothered when I asked to sample a flavor, which made the experience a bit uncomfortable. My son ended up with chocolate ice cream and chocolate sprinkles, which was just average. I had the chocolate chip cookie dough on a regular cone -- also decent, but nothing special. For the cost, I've definitely had better ice cream and far friendlier service elsewhere. We went here for ice cream I got the marshmallow s'mores in a chocolate dipped cone, delicious. I went another day the same week and got kilwins tracks in the same cone and it was fanomanal. Then lastly we went a third time I got something I don't remember in a cone bowl and my mom got mango sorbetto and it was soooooo good. And the chocolate was amazing to the peanut butter cups with dark chocolate is sooooo good. Then the people were so kind and gave us great service with no problems the 3 times we went in one week. Everybody in there was admiring and craving on how the food looked or tasted, and to be honest I was too. We dicited to go here over the ben & Jerry's not that far along manalay avenue. Kilwins came highly recommended by a friend, so I made sure to stop in when I was in town. It's just a little place, with a couple tables for seating outside. When you walk in, you're immediately hit with the smell of house made waffle cones. It's delightful. There are premade chocolate treats to grab, or you can pick individual items from the case. There's also an ice cream case with loads of options. Because I'm a sucker for a hot fudge sundae, that's what I chose. I was pleasantly surprised that it was serviced in a waffle bowl. Let me tell you, that waffle is perfect. The sundae really hit the spot! So good. I also purchased some chocolates and caramels for gifts, which were given rave reviews Cost wise, I spent about $30 on the following: hot fudge sundae, a small handful of caramels, a chocolate bar and a chocolate heart pop. Super friendly staff and great flavor choices! The have a great system in place, and they get you through really quickly, even with a line. Kilwins makes their own waffle cones, and the delicious smell wafts down the sidewalk to draw people in. That's certainly what got me through their doors! It took us a few tries to make it inside, since the first time we got told to leave because we didn't have masks (I saw them lose a TON of business for that rule since most other places don't require them). Once we finally remembered our masks one night, we ordered some ice cream and shakes. I wish I could say that it was comparable to the smells that lured us in, but it wasn't anything special. And it was VERY overpriced. They charged us $10 for a single shake. Yikes!! I get charging that much if the ice cream is life-changing, but it was just regular, average, grocery store ice cream. Basically, the smells were 5 stars, but the actual experience was only 3 stars. You can 100% find cheaper ice cream that tastes the same, if not better! read more

After spending a few hours getting nice and golden brown on the beach and subsequently stuffing my face, I decided to take a nice stroll down Mandalay. The street is quaint and packed full of small shops. That's when I came across Kilwins. My eyes grew as wide as saucers and my inner fatboy was immediately drawn to the ice cream counter. While the shop is small, it is tidy, super clean, and also carries other confections such as fudge. I settled on my one true love: mint chocolate chip. For being basically across the street from a very popular beach, the price was fair and I feel got good value, considering how many other places tend to price gouge tourists. The cone was just the right amount of sweet and held up the last bite without getting one bit soggy. I've seen some negative reviews on the lack of seating. There are a few seats available out front, but with this type of cone, I felt better walking down Mandalay and stuffing my chipmunk cheeks. The experience reminded be of being back on a boardwalk in New York or the Texas coast. I was tempted to make the 35 min drive back the next day just for seconds. read more
