With a name like Swirlee's, of course we had to come in and grab a sweet treat. This ice cream shop is really cute! I love the decor. Two gals were working tonight. They both greeted us. They patiently waited for us to decide what we wanted while we checked out what was in the ice cream cases and the toppings they had. They have a bunch of fun toppings and syrups available. Most of them were candy and dry toppings like cereal or cookies. Everything looked good! There was lots of options of Hershey's ice cream. I have heard of Hershey's selling ice cream but never had the opportunity to have it till today. With as many options as they had, I got a small scoop of rush hour. My husband got a large cookies and cream shake. My scoop was the perfect size. Enough for a little treat after a big dinner. Rush hour was a coffee ice cream with chocolate chips in it. There was also a third item to the ice cream but I can't remember. The ice cream was creamy and sweet. It had a great coffee taste to it and it wasn't overwhelming my husband's cookies and cream shake is great! It was topped with whipped cream and an oreo. It was thick and creamy! My husband finished every bit of that shake! The girls did a great job whipping it up. It was nice coming into this ice cream joint after dinner. I wish I would have asked about the toppings they had available. I didn't want to assume that we can just add them to our ice cream. Back home, toppings and ice cream are all weighed per oz. But there wasn't a sign or scale by the toppings so I just left my ice cream the way it was. The two gals working tonight were sweet. The joint is really cute. Hopefully i can make it back for one more scoop before we travel back home.

When we went the line was out the door as the customer area is tiny inside but it adds to the ambiance. We tried two pastries, can't recall the exact names - a peach and almond danish and a cinnamon bun. The peach danish but flaky and buttery. The peach flavor could have been a bit stronger but the danish was well made. The cinnamon bun was just live a cinnamon roll center without the icing but the custard in the middle was delicious. Excited to go back and get a load of bread. Prices were as expected.

My visit was during the morning rush so there was a line to order but aside from it allowing me more time to choose my breakfast treats, I was also able to watch the baker pulling out fresh bread from the oven. It's truly a working bakery. The blue and white exterior is very eye catching as you arrive in the area and the warm natural color tones inside the bakery are soothing and elegant. The staff who took my order, as well as the one who made my coffee order, were very friendly and calm, despite having a decent line of eager customers hoping what they wanted wasn't taken by the customers before them. Tight quarters inside so not really a place to sit and savor your selections but they do have seating outside, in a patio area next door. If you purchase loaves of bread, you are able to have it sliced! I'm looking forward to trying the bread next time I'm in town. Definitely add this place to your next visit to Athens!

Classes haven't started at UGA, so there's plenty of street parking, including a 15 minute spot right in front of Baladi's. There's also a garage adjacent to the shop. Located super conveniently next to a Hilton Suites and several apartment building, I imagine this place will be busy in a few weeks! We were greeted with a smile immediately upon entering, and the cashier was super helpful in getting all our orders. We were able to adjust the sweetness of the drinks, and no one balked or made a big deal about any special requests. LOVE having so many non-dairy choices for lattes, teas, and refreshers. The pastries look rich and probably taste amazing. Alas, it's not what we wanted today. The ice teas are served in a plastic "can" with a pop top. My strawberry matcha was made with a syrup (v. purée), but it was delicious! The matcha wasn't too overpowering but I could definitely taste it! I got mine with coconut milk. Yum! Blue lavender tea was artfully made. And the mango smoothie my son ordered was inhaled quickly. Can't wait to visit more often!

The shop itself is beautiful, with a trendy and aesthetic atmosphere that's perfect for studying, getting work done, or catching up with friends. While I didn't get a chance to try any of their sweet treats, especially the Dubai-inspired desserts, everything in the display case looked fresh, authentic, and delicious. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu.
