I live in a different state, but a friend who lives locally has been having a hard time and I wanted to send her some flowers to cheer her up. I ordered a specific arrangement online, and added the chocolates with a card to be delivered. The arrangement arrived and it was wildly different that what I'd originally ordered - see the picture of what I thought I ordered vs what was delivered. I called the shop to ask if there had been a mistake, and was told that they didn't have the flowers pictured online, so they made a different arrangement at a comparable price. I guess that might have been okay -- if you'd called me to ask?? I spent nearly $100 on an arrangement that was supposed to have a particular meaning for my friend, and they just made a substitution without informing me. If I hadn't called to follow up after my friend sent me the picture of what she received, I wouldn't have even known! Not the kind of service I am used to. I have ordered from local flower shops remotely before and they have always contacted me about any changes or substitutions different from what was advertised and paid for online. What if the person receiving the flowers had a specific allergy?? Just not acceptable. I will not use them again if I need to order in this area. read more

I ordered flowers for my Dad's funeral online and they had pictures of the arrangements. I ordered flowers that were a wreath shape and would have a ribbon that said Dad across it with specific instructions. I walked in to my Dad's funeral visitation and was embarrassed at the arrangement that I spent over $200.00 for. It looked like a 50 to 75 arrangement and was nothing like I ordered. It was 6:00 pm when I walked in his visitation and before I could see his body I was met with these flowers are nothing like what I ordered. It was one of the most important days of ordering flowers that were supposed to say Dad and they had no ribbon or anything. I should not of felt that walking in to see my Dad. I now have to wait to 9:00 and see if they can even fix their mistake in time for his 2:00 service. I thought this place was the best in Athens and the disappointed me on a very important day! Super disappointed with the flowers I ordered. I order these specific flowers off of the website because I liked the simplicity of them and how clean they looked. I also paid for the largest bouquet hoping that they would come how they are in the photo (I attached for reference). The other picture is what they ended up sending. The arrangement is beautiful, but not what I asked for or wanted. She also included a ton of greenery, which was not in the photo on the website. The owner/lady that made my arrangement, Debra, called me and said that I only gave her $115 and that if I wanted more roses I would of needed to pay more. Keep in mind I paid for the largest arrangement for the bouquet on their website. This completely shocked me and really annoyed me. I bought the flowers based on what the photo looked like on the website. I completely understand if they need to change the color of flowers because of seasons, but the arrangement was completely different than what I wanted. I ordered a Designer's Choice arrangement for my best friend who lives in Athens. They designed the most gorgeous arrangement for her! It's a cottagecore dream come true in the cutest wooden box! It has a stunning combination of colors and it feels like a beautiful wildflower field with tons of rich greenery. I really cannot over-state how stunning it is! When you walk into the front door of this very simplistic florist, you may notice the white sign taped to the door which reads "this is a pet-friendly facility." This may just pass through your mind as you read it or it may stick with you. Personally, it stuck with me, which is why I was not surprised when a kitten darted past me as I entered. Yes, there are live animals in this florist, and personally it adds a sense of charm to the very friendly atmosphere that is present. Deborah made my bouquet and boutonniere for my March 30, 2013 wedding. At first, I was going to do it all myself, so I called Flowerland and spoke with Deborah, just to see how much a few peonies would be. She was so kind and told me she would call around to her suppliers and let me know. When she called back, she told me they were out of season and would be super expensive, but she suggested that I look into several roses that look a lot like the peonies, but would be less expensive. I did just that and called to ask how much she could get them for. In short, Deborah was so kind and sweet that I conceded to her that I was going to make my bouquet and boutonniere myself because I had a quote from another place in town and bouquets started at $150.00, which I was not going to pay. Deborah laughed, said she understood, and told me that they've been in business for 40-some years and can accommodate all different types of budgets. I told her my limit and she made a beautiful bouquet and boutonniere for that price, which I though was more than reasonable - plus much, much less stress and hassle for my wedding day! I chose Flowerland based on the overwhelming amount of positive reviews online but I was very disappointed with my experience. However, the details of my experience are less important than my conversation with the owner. I called to politely explain that the flowers I received, though beautiful, were not to the specifications of my order. I stated that I was not interested in any refund, I simply wanted to let her know about my experience as a customer. The owner rudely interrupted me multiple times, made excuses for the mistakes, accused me of being misinformed, and I was far more frustrated when I hung up the phone than when I called. Overall, I feel that Flowerland cut corners on my order which were clearly reflected in the finished product, while charging me twice the average price. read more
