I've been here a few times with my Daughter and Goddaughter and its a great spot to shoot. They have everything you need to shoot of you just want to come out at the last minute or you can bring your own gun, ammo and safety equipment and have a good time. Fudd range rules, poor target selection. Really irritating to be interrupted while shooting and told "1-2 seconds between shots" considering im 90% alpha, not mag dumping or shooting the ceiling. Apparently every range in Columbia does this for whatever reason. read more

I go here often. I've noticed that gun ranges/shops tend to attract butt holes/rude ppl that work behind their counters. Well not this place. Everyone I've encountered has been polite and professional. They ask you what you are shooting and if you need ammo. If you don't Need ammo they don't get an attitude about it. You wouldn't know they sell guns because they never pressure you to buy one. They do have a nice assortment that you can rent for the range. But this place is primarily for shooting. I take my 14yr old son here to shoot, I feel that it is safe or I wouldn't do this. My wife, older son and brother in law and sister in law took the CWP class here and enjoyed it. read more

Great Place To Shoot!! Very nice indoor shooting range! A fifteen minute ride from downtown Columbia, down I20 to Lexington- Being kind of a newbie to the shoot em up - bang bang gun world I was a little intimidated about going to "The Range" The people at Defender Shooting Sports Indoor Range are super nice! They totally put me at ease, and made me feel comfortable about the whole experience. They took the time to explain the common sense rules and expectations- gave me a little tour and made sure to let me know that they were always available... The facilities are clean and comfortable, They have a nice little lounge area with a few chairs and tables. The range itself has 10 well lit stalls with fold down tables and automatic target retrieval systems. They don't offer a lot of merchandise and don't have a real big display area or store front. They do sell guns and gun accessories- however, I think this is primarily a place to go and shoot. They offer guns that you can rent and try out...If you've ever wanted to play Clint Eastwood..this would be the place to go shoot em up :) Overall- Very professional, super nice staff- Very nice facilities- Five Stars! read more

Took a CWP class with Kevin at Kilo Charlie's on 1-17 2021. Class is put together well, Kevin knows his stuff. It is not a hard class if you are familiar with firearms and the requirements around them. Rates are reasonable, and it is no-nonsense, as anything to do with firearms should be. With the way things currently are, and getting crazier all the time, prepare yourself and get that CWP you have been putting off for a while. Take the class from Kilo Charlie's and Kevin. Get to the range and practice. Lessons are also offered. Good gun control means hitting exactly what you are aiming at. They can help you get to that point! read more

I took a beginners class here and loved it. Very informative and willing to answer all types of questions and hypotheticals lol. I definitely recommend taking one of the many classes offered! It had a really chill and family vibe going on (but did not compromise on safety) which I really liked. I felt safe and comfortable. Also love that they have ladies day! Person at the register was EXTREMELY unprofessional towards the "leader" of our self defense class. There may or may not be issues between these companies,but due to the attitude of the guy at the counter, I will never attempt to shoot at this range again. read more

A nice safe range, personal and friendly staff, great training courses and other events, etc... help make it easy for me to recommend Kilo Charlie Shooting Range! They have 10 lanes out to 25 yards, rental guns, ammo, and hearing and eye protection available if needed, a small store (with an online store available with a wide selection), a restroom, coffee, a training room, etc... In addition to pistols, you can also shoot rifles up to .308 and shotguns (buck shot only). Kevin also offers CWP and other training including low light shooting events, defensive pistol, etc... and does a great job. Getting your CWP is only one step along your path to self-defense. Don't stop there and trust your life to just what you learned in your CWP class. Get more training and practice frequently. Not only will you be prepared if you are forced to defend yourself from a violent criminal, but you will also have some fun learning and shooting at the range. Another thing to keep in mind is that it's easier to learn to do things the right way at first than to have to break bad habits later. It's very nice to work with a local business where they want to help, are happy to answer questions, etc... I enjoy the range and training and really appreciate having someone I can go to for anything firearms related that I might need. I moved back to Columbia from out of state and I'm almost laughing when I see people praise the prices here. Then I remember that all ranges in Columbia are obscenely high. The guy running the place was a nice fellow. I just miss Shooter's in Augusta, which is about half the price of any range in Columbia and has the same friendliness and service. The most fairly priced range here is PSA, where you're treated like cattle being shoved through a slaughter house. I'll take Defender over that. read more

I've only recently found this great place, but i've already been there twice to shoot in the last week. they're still getting off the ground, so they don't have too many options on gun rentals, but what they do have is great. The staff there is wonderful. They're extremely knowledgable, and anyone who's been to shooter's choice would love to know that the Defender staff is very polite too. They take time to make sure you're comfortable and well informed. They sell a few gun accessories, but they are primarily a shooting range so don't expect a ton of merchandise. If you're looking for a good place to shoot though, look no further. read more

My all time favorite shooting range in the Columbia/Lexington area. The environment is friendly and both clean and organized. Kevin and his staff are truly AMAZING and are very helpful and knowledgeable with everything. I definitely feel comfortable asking questions and getting help if I have trouble with anything. My wife and I took our CWP class with these guys. The owner and his wife are very knowledgeable and helpful. My wife and I have been there to shoot many times. They even checked out a gun my wife bought at the gun show and gave her free range time to get used to it. Genuinely nice and caring people. Great place to shoot in a climate controlled environment. Average prices for range time; good deals on gear. Good hours/access. Staff are professional and helpful. The atmosphere is one of education and safety - no condacending or intimidating people work there. My family of 4 our CWP training here and it was quite thorough. Especialy like that it is so easy to find and offers plenty of parking. Highly recommend to serious experienced and novice shooters alike. read more
