Our group had a wide range of experience, ranging from never been camping to frequent outdoorsmen. Arriving to camp each day with tents set up and shaded canopy waiting was great. It allowed us to not worry around set up and enjoy the river, and get some fishing in. The food was 5 star that we were over the moon about. We left wanting recipes but were so amazed on the freshness and preparedness MRO provided each day. No hot dogs on sticks here for sure. We saw lots of options when looking for a guided trip. I am so happy we chose Mountain River Outfitters. They allowed a Multi-generational trip, that got us all of comfort zone, to happen. We put it at Vinegar Creek boat ramp, outside of Riggins, and jetted up to China Bar Lodge where we ate lunch. They supplied us with home made sandwiches and delicious home made cookies, and we sat in the lodge and enjoyed the beautiful view of the river. The trip itself was fun. We got to see a lot of Idaho landscape that you will never see from any road, and were lucky enough to see some wildlife along the way. Bald Eagles, deer, mountain goats and sheep. It was awesome. Jeff, our boat pilot and one of the owners of the company, was super nice and he stopped the boat several times to tell us about the history and events that took place along the river. Also important to note was Brenda, who I spoke to several times during the reservation process. We had to change and update our reservation several times, as family availability for the trip changed, and as we had to make adjustments on who would be coming. Through all of this, Brenda was super helpful and took care of everything perfectly. All-in-all, this was a great experience, and would highly recommend Salmon River Tours for your wilderness river vacation experience.

In February my brother in law and I were watching DIY (Building off the grid, the river of no…read morereturn) about a fishing tour business that were rebuilding a cabin off the grid on the Salmon River. We texted back and forth for about an hour and soon decided to book a trip. Family and new friends from Alabama, Arizona, North Carolina and Idaho decided to make the trip. Well the long and short of it is we had a fabulous time with an amazing outfitter. I can't speak highly enough about SRT and the way they made the trip a total success! After watching the episode we felt like we knew Jess and Brenda but we had no idea how much fun it would be. Jess went way out of his way to see we had the best possible time and made the trip a total success. Rocky was a great tour guide and went way out of his way to take care of anything we needed. The food was was far more and way better than anything we expected. Dinner was prime rib and shrimp and breakfast was just as good, gourmet all the way. The jet boat trip is a can't miss. Jess gave us a fantastic tour and really highlighted the beautiful canyon they call home. I've been boating for most of my life but Jess can maneuver this boat like nothing I've ever seen! It may be their business but we think it was much more than that. The worst thing I can say is that we didn't book a couple more days to really appreciate the canyon. The best thing I can say about it is we're all planning to be repeat offenders to this hidden jewel, some as soon as within 2 months. This time we're going to spend the time fishing with people at SRT who truly know the river and canyon. We did a lot of research. There's a lot of outfitters out there. If you'd rather travel with people who truly love what they do this is the group for you. Watch the episode, book the trip. You won't regret it.

Yes, the…read morewilderness of Hells Canyon and the river is stunning in its beauty, but this three-day trip was perfect in every way because of our top-notch tour guide, idahoafloat Dave (owner-operator) and his guides Austin and Sam are professional and knowledgeable - with safety, comfort, and enjoyment of their guests top priorities. The day before putting in, Dave stopped by the motel where we were staying to give us an orientation and give us waterproof bags to pack before morning. He showed up promptly the next day to take us to the dam to get started. Meanwhile, Kate back at the office was a key member of the team, reaching out to me to ensure my dietary restrictions were accommodated in the menus for the trip. Dave and his guides were on top of the river conditions, stopping to scout the more challenging rapids and smoothly navigating all of them. Coffee and breakfast was ready to go when we came out of our tents (and the coffee was better than I expected on a camping trip). Every meal was very good and balanced - Dave and team went out of their way to ensure our satisfaction. Near the end of our trip, a couple guests strayed away and the guides went on their way to make sure everything was ok. Despite a one-hour delay to take-out because of this, Dave and his team took it in stride with smiles. I highly recommend Dave and idahoafloat.com for your Snake River trip.

On my morning walk I witnessed a gentleman two campsites down walking his dog off a leash down by the boat Storage. The Park host asked him to put the dog up and he did so immediately. While the Park host continued walking her dog around the park, she witnessed somebody else three campsites down from him, exercising his hunting dogs down by the river. She yelled at this older gentleman to lock his dogs up, but I would say it was safe to assume he couldn't hear. The Park host then walked her dog all the way into somebody else's campsite where they had their dog leashed and tied to the fire pit. After a few seconds, the park host little dog snapped at the other dog chained to the fire pit and they got into a fight. Nobody was injured, but the Park host was definitely in the wrong. She screamed at my girlfriend and I while all this was going on and we were five campsites away doing nothing. While this is happening the gentleman three campsites down was putting his dogs in the trailer and the lady screamed at him as well. After everything was said and done the gentleman with the two hunting dogs who had nothing to do with any altercation whatsoever was kicked out of the park that day for something he had nothing to do with. Because the Park host demanded an apology from him for something he had nothing to do with. The lady that owned the other dog involved in the altercation went and told the Park host it had nothing to do with the other gentleman, but because he hurt the Park hose feeling by not apologizing for something he didn't do he was kicked out. This was not fair or just. It has nothing to do with me, but I watched the entire scenario unfold and the park host as well as the park Owner were completely in the wrong!
