She does not listen to what customers are communicating and seems to schedule appointments based on what is convenient for the salon rather than honoring the customer's request. I specifically book my appointments because I want to see my preferred nail technician. Yet, I have shown up more than once only to be told that my technician is unavailable and that I would need to see someone else. Had I been informed that her schedule was overbooked or that she would not be available, I would have made an appointment at another location instead. This is not a one-time misunderstanding; it has become a recurring issue. It is incredibly frustrating to make an appointment, plan your time around it, and show up expecting the service you requested, only to find out that the appointment was made without regard for what you communicated over the phone. This is a matter of professionalism, communication, and respect for the customer's time. If the requested technician is unavailable, customers should be told upfront so they can decide whether to reschedule or take their business elsewhere. After yet another frustrating experience, I chose to walk out rather than settle for a service I never agreed to. At this point, I will likely not return. I visited iStudio to see JMACPALMS nails located in Suite 7, who specializes in nail services ranging from gel polish manicures, acrylic manicures, natural nail manicures and spa pedicures. I think the iStudio concept is cool as gives a chance for independent beauty professionals to practice individually, without the overhead of setting up a whole shop on their own, or renting a booth in a pricier salon/spa. If you are looking for salon type services, check them out. If you are looking for a serene spa environment, be aware that the ambient background noise is more of a salon atmosphere. That being said, the service here can be hit or miss. I never manage to keep track of technician's names that I particularly like--or when I do, they're gone after a few appointments. I've never been upset about the finished product, but pedis are a little more low stakes than manicures. I have had the occasional "rough" technician, where the relaxation is disturbed by occasional pain. And you only need to be sliced open by the sharp edge of a nail file once before you're on high alert to prevent it ever happening again. I didn't say anything because I didn't see the finished product until the end, but I also didn't want my teen thinking the nails she just got for her event were "bad." I will be coming back here, but this last visit was the first in a long time and upon re-entering I realized my less frequent pedis were because the place just isn't as relaxing as it once was. Like I said, not giving up on Velvet, but I am always on the lookout for the Pedi Heaven I seek. I hope they can bring it!
